The president is disappointed in you, Kanye. At least, off the record he is. President Obama had an informal chat with a CNBC reporter yesterday and when he was asked about the VMA controversy he explained that he thought Kanye West was a “jackass”. Of course no one in their right mind would report that the president said something like that especially when it’s off the record, but ABC reporter Terry Moran heard the news feed and Twittered about it. The Tweet read “Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a “jackass” for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT’S presidential.” Whither thy journalistic integrity, Terry – using Twitter and sarcasm in one swoop?
The post was quickly taken down and ABC issued an apology for prematurely reporting the quote. We actually think the president’s views on pop culture should be more transparent, it makes him more human. Forget healthcare, what does he think of Lady Gaga? [Photo: Getty Images]
It was a coincidence that Kanye West was scheduled to appear on the premiere of Jay Leno‘s new talk show the night after making worldwide headlines, but he wasn’t supposed to be a sit-down guest with Leno, he was just going to perform. However, after he realized what an ass he made of himself at the VMAs, he requested an interview with Leno to clear the air and tell America that he has a lot of thinking to do and what he’s done.
West told Leno, “Dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist—or from anyone—because I only wanted to help people. . .It’s actually someone’s emotions that I stepped on. It was rude, period. I’d like to apologize to her in person.” West, who lost his mother last year, explained away his actions, saying, “You know, obviously, I deal with hurt and, you know, so many celebrities, they never take the time off, and I’ve never taken the time off, just music and music and tour after tour, and I’m ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt.”
Has Kanye not seen Taylor’s video for “The Best Day,” which is a tribute to her own mother? Maybe Mrs. Swift can take him in and help everyone heal together. Reality show premise?
Premium airhead of The HillsStephanie Pratt is well on her way to morphing into an Aubrey O’Day-Heidi Montag hybrid. At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards last night, she looked almost unrecognizable walking the red carpet. The sister of Satan spawn Spencer seems to have gotten her lips plumped and nose refined, all at the young age of 23. It seems neither the acting nor the beauties of The Hills are natural. Everyone else has spoken out about Kanye-gate, so it’s about time we heard from the girl at the center of all the VMA drama. Taylor Swift sounded kind of deflated when speaking to reporters about being upstaged by Kanye West during her Best Female Video acceptance speech, for good reason.
“Well, I was standing on stage because I was really excited because I had just won the award,” Swift said. “And then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage. And then I wasn’t so excited anymore after that.” So sad! Unlike so many of her celebrity fans (i.e. Kelly Clarkson and Pink) who were royally pissed off by West, Swift remained diplomatic, explaining “I don’t know him, and I’ve never met him, so…I don’t want to start anything because I had a great night tonight.”
She also gave a shout out to Beyoncewho invited Swift back on stage at the end of the show. “They told me to stand by the side of the stage, and I didn’t really know what was going to go down, but I thought it was so wonderful and gracious of her to do what she’s always done. She’s always been a great person before anything else. Before the talented artist, the superstar, she’s always been a great person and I just, I thought I couldn’t love Beyonce more tonight.” Amen to that, these ladies know how to keep it classy. Amidst the shocking moments and outlandish performances at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards was some glitzy and glamorous fashion. Metallic frocks dominated the arrivals, with Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Leighton Meester rockin’ silver and gold. Keri Hilson looked impossibly bangin’ in a satin jumpsuit and Beyonce flaunted her curves in a ruffly scarlet number. Not even piles of money and stylists can prevent fashion disasters, and the red carpet at the VMAs is one of the riskier events where oh-so-much can go wrong. Judging from last night’s showing, there were disasters a’plenty. Whose outfits weren’t up to snuff? Let’s have a look.
Kelly Clarkson may be low key and chill most of the time, but she can rip you a new one if she wants to – which is just what the singer has done to hip-hop drama king Kanye West. After last night’s Kanye-Taylor Swift fiasco, Kelly took to her blog to take the guy to task for ruining Tay’s big moment. Check out her rant below, and tune in to VH1 Divas this Thursday, September 17th at 9PM EST to see her awesome sass in action. [Photos: GettyImages]
What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough?? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we’re all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like shit. I mean, I’ve seen you do some pretty shitty things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, asshole ways. It’s absolutely fascinating how much I don’t like you. I like everyone. I even like my asshole ex that cheated on me over you…which is pretty odd since I don’t even personally know you. The best part of this evening is that you weren’t even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a moon man that much of a life goal?? You can have mine if it will shut you up. Is it that important, really??
I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and I was excited for her…so why can’t you be?? I’m not even mad at you for being an asshole…I just pity you because you’re a sad human being.
On a side note, Beyonce has always been a class act and proved again tonight that she still is. Go TEXAS!!
Taylor Swift, you outsell him ….that’s why he’s bitter. You know I love your work! Keep it up girl!
Prepare yourself for a ton of exclamation points and a whole lotta nonsense. Kanye Westhas apologized to Taylor Swifton his blog (which we can’t access right now because an army of TSwift fans has swarmed it for a g-rated takedown, probably). Enjoy his rant below (via Rolling Stone); we’re off to nurse our VMAs hangover with some “True Blood” and a gallon of wine. [Photo: Getty Images]
