News from out favorite website ever — Goop. Its founder Gwyneth Paltrow has posted a behind-the-scenes ‘Emmy Scrapbook’ and thus made our day. These photos are taken from her personal camera and you can clearly tell the before and after. Because the one on the left is like her in Contagion, only smiling, and not contorted in pain and horror.
It starts off harmlessly enough with her introducing the diary with, “So nearly two weeks ago, getting everyone settled in back to school mode, I woke up to a huge surprise: I had won a Creative Arts Emmy for my guest role on Glee!” She adds a heartfelt bit about her late dad, writing, “This was especially meaningful, as my father (who made great TV shows back in the day—”The White Shadow”, “St. Elsewhere”) had been nominated and lost the Emmys nine times. So I’m pretty chuffed about the whole thing. And then it goes very Gwyneth and talks about jetting from the Shangri-La in Paris to London and then to L.A! And Audi’s and facials and what not. Gotta love her life.
What we love especially (and non-sarcastically) about this though, are the photos! We cracked up at the one with Tina Fey and Jack McBrayer because the caption is, ”I live for Tina Fey and I love Kenneth from 30 Rock!” We have a sneaky feeling she totally forgot Jack’s name. What’s even funnier is that with all that professional help, she still ended up in our Emmy Worst Dressed List! It may not sound like it, but can we say how much we love Gwyneth. There’s truly no one else like her!

Before we get started, let’s acknowledge the obvious: Jon Hamm is an insanely handsome man. I think that very few people, when posed with the question “Would you trade your looks for Jon Hamm’s?”, would answer in the negative. However, at the 2011 Emmy Awards on Sunday night, he didn’t quite look his usual Hammsian self. In fact, he just looked … REGULAR HANDSOME (which, for him, equates to fugs).
It’s hard to tell exactly what went wrong on Sunday, but a natural starting point would be his hair. What did he DO to that luxurious mane of his, anyway? As we have seen in his many red carpet and acting roles, the man is capable of pulling off every hairstyle in the books, from a slicked down Brylcream special to just-out-of-bed-head. But at the Emmys, it looked like he had just stumbled upon a case of expired Vidal Sassoon mousse leftover from the 80s moments before the show and just went hogwild with that shizz in the limo. His most egregious offense, however, was not taking a pair of shears to that one piece of straggly hair that cascaded down his forehead like a reverse rat tail.
It had to happen someday. TV’s biggest night brought with it a meeting of equally epic proportions, as Charlie Sheen and Ashton Kutcher met face to face for the first time. Unfortunately the Men-star summit took place backstage at the Nokia Theater and was not part of the Emmy broadcast. What were the producers thinking?! But luckily these few precious twit-pix survive of two, courtesy of Sheen himself. What could have been one of the greatest showdowns in award show history was actually incredibly cordial, even warm. “Giving the new kid a little advice..!” Chaz captioned the picture above to Kutcher. “Seriously… great talking to you! We’ll all be watching! Make us proud!!” Ashton responded in kind by writing, “Good to meet you too. Wishing you the best on your new gig.” Awww. It’s like a passing of the bizarro torch. Ashton will have his own pornstar entourage in no time!
Sheen is showing his mellower side these days. Maybe he’s kicked the drug called “Charlie Sheen” in favor of a drug called lithium. Last week he hit the talk show circuit and expressed remorse for his outbursts last winter. And last night he even addressed the assembled television gliteratti with a heartfelt (if awkward) message. “I want to take a moment to get something off my chest and say a few words to everyone here from Two and a Half Men,” he began. “From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best from this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together, and I know you will continue to make great television.” Charlie says that he’s throwing a viewing party to watch the premiere of a Sheen-less Two And A Half Men tonight. Will you be tuning in too? Let us know!
