What’s scarier than that decrepit clown jack-in-the-box from The Woman In Black trailer? Well, nothing, but Daniel Radcliffe’s former drinking problem runs a close second. In an interview with British magazine Heat (the same one in which Radcliffe discusses his body hair preferences at, um, length), the Harry Potter star claims he can pinpoint the exact scenes in his famous films during which he was under the influence. “I went into work still drunk,” he confesses. “I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes. I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem.” Dead behind the eyes! Oh, he means inebriated. Wait, that’s still pretty bad!
Daniel doesn’t specify exactly which scenes he’s referring to, but has discussed in the past how his drinking ramped up during the filming of 2009’s Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. “I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamoured with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me,” Radcliffe told The Telegraph this past summer. Radcliffe says he stopped drinking in 2010, maintaining, “I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work.” Man, can you imagine filming Dumbledore’s death scene three sheets to the wind? We could barely stop crying as it is, and we were stone cold sober. And in a crowded movie theater!

With results finally emerging a month to the day of her passing, Amy Winehouse’s autopsy has allegedly revealed that there were no illegal drugs in the singer’s body at the time of her death, at least according to her family. Said their spokesperson Chris Goodman, “toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death.” While Amy’s family reports that it is still unclear what killed the Back To Black musician, the results supposedly do show that “alcohol was present” in her body.
Winehouse’s rehab stint earlier this year, combined with her rocky history of substance abuse, had many assuming drugs would be a significant factor in Amy Winehouse’s death. However, prior to autopsy results, Amy’s family suspected alcohol withdrawal might have been a factor instead. There will apparently be a second inquest into the singer’s death in October, which will hopefully offer a clearer picture as to the exact circumstances around her passing.

Did you know that Daniel Radcliffe had a drinking problem? This comes as news to a lot of people, because his excessive boozing was kept as a well-guarded secret. That’s just bad news, isn’t it? That’s how celebrities — specifically the younger ones — start sliding down fame’s very slippery slope and end up burning out. Luckily, DanRad seems to have a solid head on his shoulders and controlled what could have spiraled into quite a nasty addiction.
Daniel’s now a teetotaler who prefers nights in as opposed to nights out. And he’s spending them with a girlfriend, explaining, “I’m actually enjoying the fact I can have a relationship with my girlfriend where I’m really pleasant and I’m not f—ing up totally all the time!” He hasn’t specified who “she” is, but we’re guessing it’s one Olive Uniacke. If so, she’s turned a new leaf too because Olive was known to be quite the party girl. Radcliffe talks about his complete dependance on alcohol, especially after he turned 18 and during the time he was filming Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. His choice of poison? Whisky and some hard partying.
Don’t look at us — we didn’t know and we’re not making it up either! He said, “I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamoured with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me.”Daniel also talked about how nobody knew about this destructive streak of his. A lot of it was pure luck, as he revealed, “I really got away with that because there were many instances when a shot like that could have been taken. Our Boy Wizard has apparently, not touched a drop of booze since August last year. Good for him and thank God, he’s so level-headed! It takes some serious cojones to stop dead in your tracks like that.
There’s good news and bad news. The good news is that it’s our first post of 2011! The bad news is that it’s about someone going to rehab. Any guesses who the celebrity is?
Hint: He was just spotted photo bombing four Oompah Loompahs right around New Years Eve. Yes, it’s a he, and that was just one of the signs that he needed to get to rehab. That male celebrity is… [Photo: Getty Images] Read more…
