Is Keira Knightley trying to give Rihanna a run for her money? Because Rihanna posed naked for the December cover of GQ, whereas Keira is just topless for the December cover of Allure. But there are no losers here, least of all any of those two because they look incredible. Where Ri-Ri was styled far more naturally (or is it au naturel), Keira’s look is a lot more glamorous with red lips and tousled waves, which, as the hairstylist Christiaan helpfully explains as, “We wanted it to look sexy and flexible—like it was destroyed after a wild night, but not too, too wild.” Rihanna’s jacket that (barely) covered her modesty was a leather one, but Keira’s is a more glossy sequined version. And considering it’s a little hard to miss that she’s wearing nothing under that sparkly little bolero, the interview itself doesn’t let you forget that either. Keira talks about nudity in film saying, “I’m quite rigorous about what gets exposed. No bottom half! I don’t mind exposing my tits because they’re so small—people really aren’t that interested!” And as for deciding how much to show, “I think it’s much easier as you get older. You can say, ‘No.’ ‘Yes.’ ‘No.'” This is the part that we’re going to insert that she’s only 27-years-old. There is no “older” just yet.

Allure is essentially a beauty magazine, so we can’t understand how they came up with this? They have Kate Beckinsale on their August cover, who is gorgeous. They also have access to the best products and makeup stylists, so no excuses again. How is it that they made such a lovely woman look so bland? We’re not saying they should have put her in teal eyeliner and fuchsia lips, but the combination of the dark brows, non-descript eyes and nude lips is just completely blah. And that smile looks forced. Somebody give the woman a tube of lip gloss, please? Luckily, some of the shots inside make up for the cover, and Kate also compensates by jumping off the page with her personality. She has a laugh about herself, especially with regard to her upcoming film, Total Recall, saying, “It’s an odd trajectory, I’ll give you that. If you’d asked me when I was at Oxford, ‘Do you think you’ll ever be running up and down holding a machine gun as a bad guy in a big American movie?’ I would have said, ‘God, no!'” Which also subtly reminds the ready that this beauty has brains thanks to the Oxford name-drop.
The laughs continue with her talking about her training regime, which we’re guessing also applies for the Underworld series. “On the first day, they took me out and said, ‘We just want to kind of get a sense of where you’re at. So let’s just see how you run,'” she says. “They had me run across the parking lot. I ran like a girl, with my arms up, so that had to be knocked out of me. Then it was ‘All right, let’s see you throw a punch.’ I did, and therefore earned myself a couple months of boxing training.” Badass, beautiful and brainy — this woman deserved a better cover, Allure peeps! It’s not particularly … alluring.

How are we feeling about this July Allure cover of Anne Hathaway? We actually find the photographs inside the magazine — like the one we have on the right — far sexier than the picture chosen for the face of the magazine. We’re fans of the thick cat-eye eyeliner, the tousled hair, the strong eyebrows, as well as the black Alexander Wang top she has on. The cover itself has much of the same makeup, but she isn’t selling it. The expression — which we think was supposed to be a soft, serene smile — looks flat. But it’s nice to see her long hair again, since Anne has been sporting a buzz cut for her Les Miserables role of late.
She’s dishing on her various film roles in the cover story, which is interesting to read. Of her unforgiving latex suit for her portrayal as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, the actress moans, “[It was] a psychological terrorist… the suit, thoughts of my suit, changing my life so I would fit into that suit… it dominated my year. I went into the gym for ten months and didn’t come out.” Add to that, her crazy regime for Les Miserables, and you have one very … hungry woman. She explains, “I’m doing some crazy weight stuff right now… I’m on day six of detox … this diet makes me break out, so I love that. Nothing like living on hummus and radishes and then being all like ‘And I got a pimple’ Yeah.” The things people do for art, huh? We couldn’t. And we’re not putting down this Snickers bar, either.

So we have more tastefully nude pics to add to the portraits of Maria Menounos and Debra Messing we saw yesterday, from Allure‘s “Naked Truth” issue. Heidi Klum, Taraji P. Henson, Leslie Bibb and Morena Baccarin also stripped down for the breathtaking black-and-white photo spread. And because Allure is not Maxim, these photos are supposedly meant not to titillate but to make women feel better about their bodies. Huh? Actually, they just made me put aside the sleeve of Girl Scout cookies I was about to eat for breakfast. We learn in the accompanying video featuring everyone but Heidi that the ladies did feel slightly nervous about dropping trou for the shoot. Some even — gasp! — admitted to dieting.
“I told my friends [about the shoot], mostly because I’ve been starving myself for three weeks. And so when they ask me to go out to dinner, I have to preface it by saying, ‘Well, I’m actually not eating now,’ ” Homeland star Baccarin said. “Part of me wanted to say, ‘I don’t diet.’ But I do, and I work really hard to look the way that I look. I think that that’s comforting for women to know the truth.”
Nicki Minaj‘s ambition is nothing if not a force of nature. Do you think she’d be able to maintain that wig game or that repertoire of aggressively hilarious faces if she didn’t want to be the best of the best? Highly doubtful. “I never thought about music as just being the end-all, be-all. I always looked at it like a business, something that I could create an empire out of. So that’s why I’m only about to put out my second album and I’m already thinking about this,” the “I’m The Best” rapper told Allure. “I had a little conversation with Jay-Z at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. He said, ‘Congratulations on all your success.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m coming for you. I’m coming for your spot, Mr. Mogul.'” How embarrassing. Jay-Z doesn’t even have a wig game.
That being said, we are going to have to draw the line when it comes to what “being the best” entails. It should have nothing to do with girl’s weight. “I’m naturally petite, but I definitely struggle with keeping those extra pounds off,” Nicki Minaj claims. “And I hate working out. I can’t stand being on a treadmill. That mentally irks me. When I need to lose a few, I just cut out sugar and starch.” What pounds is she talking about? Statues could and have been made to Nicki’s insane figure, including the one we’re chiseling right now. Nicki knows we would only love her more if she weighed 400 lbs, right? More.
How hot it this shot of Ashley Greene in Allure? We love the cobalt blue corseted Zac Posen dress, the big hair and it goes without saying that throwing a drink in a man’s face gets our vote of approval too. Ashley kept apologizing to the male model after every take, which is hilariously sweet! The actress is also on the cover of the magazine and talks about the good stuff: men!
She dismisses any rumors of those claws coming out between her and Demi Lovato over Joe Jonas, saying, “She and I never had a problem with each other. But, you know, it doesn’t go away…. Jen Aniston still gets asked about Angelina Jolie.” She’s also completely denied that anything’s going on with Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane, stating, “Seth and I are friends, and he texts me: ‘I didn’t know that not only were we dating, but we have since been confirmed to not be dating.’ I can assure you that we’re not.” She practically linked up with every guy she’s photographed with! Considering they’re all pretty hot, it’s not the worst thing in the world. Saving best for last though, Ashley does a spot on Robert Pattinson-in-the-spotlight imitation, with, “Rob. Oh, Rob. He’s very endearing, but you’ve seen his interviews. He’s like, ‘Ah, I don’t know…. Oh, God’.”
If a photograph isn’t enough for you, check out her behind-the-scenes video at the cover shoot!

These photographs of Salma Hayek from Allure‘s September issue are bound to get temperature’s rising. The interview itself rocks with the actress addressing different questions about her body for instance. When asked what part of her body looked better a decade ago — she’s 44 — the answer was a humorous one. One which men across the planet will disagree with, as she replied, “My boobs. They’re not bad, by the way. I’m not complaining about them.” As she shouldn’t.
She also added, “As a woman, you should be more at ease with your sexuality when you are in your 40s. You are more self-assured about that part. And that’s the way it should be. If you are a girl who cannot walk in heels, it doesn’t matter how beautiful you are. If you look like a chicken that’s been spiked in the feet, it’s not going to be sexy.” Salma would know, right? We love the shoot and the sexy, touseled Brigitte Bardot vibe she’s channeling. Or Sophia Loren, considering these could be scenes from an arty Italian film. Does anyone else also see the similarities with Monica Bellucci?
