Amy Winehouse’s Family Plans To Open Charity Out Of Singer’s Home

In death as in life, Amy Winehouse‘s legacy seems to be the ability to take a whole mess of pain and turn it into something that touches people very deeply. Following Amy Winehouse’s death almost two weeks ago, People claims that the singer’s family intends to open the Amy Winehouse Foundation in her $4 million London home. The charity will reportedly help children in need; those heading up the organization will release their official mission statement on what would have been Winehouse’s 28th birthday, September 14.

“The foundation is going to help thousands of people. That is Amy’s legacy,” the singer’s father Mitch Winehouse tweeted this week, adding today, “Once again, thanks for your beautiful messages. I will keep you all informed as to the progress of the foundation. Mitch.” In the meantime, the Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett duet “Body and Soul,” recorded earlier this year for Bennett’s album Duets II, will be sold as a benefit single for the foundation, a great idea considering we were all going to buy it and listen to it in the fetal position anyway.
