Michael Fassbender’s On-Camera Pee, And Other Oscar Roundtable Moments

Whether they’re peeing in front of a camera, talking about their bat nipples or discussing people slicing off their toes, celebrities truly are just like us. And by us, we mean giant weirdos. When Newsweek assembled George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Viola Davis, Charlize Theron, Christopher Plummer and Michael Fassbender for their Oscar roundtable, plenty of creepy stories and awkward moments started to emerge. “I did actually pee on-camera, ” Fassbender admits about his starring role in Shame, explaining that he got it done in three takes. “Hard to stop, isn’t it?” Clooney blurts gleefully. Other delightfully off-putting moments that cropped up during the stars’ discussion included:

  • Clooney’s depressing shoe salesman years. “There was a whole generation of women who had a toe cut off to fit in tight pumps,” he…jokes?
  • Charlize Theron commanding that Viola Davis recognize, “You’re hot as sh–!”
  • Clooney’s defense of the Batman sequels, which gets derailed by Tilda Swinton’s memory of his prominent rubber batsuit nipples. “Had I known they were going to put nipples on the thing, I would have rethought it,” George sighs.
  • Christopher Plummer’s very real beef with Tree of Life director Terrence Malick, saying of his experience making Malick’s film The New World, “I gave him sh–. I’ll never work with him again.”
  • Charlize’s amazing impression of Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids.

So … can we give all of them an Oscar for all this riffing? Or just to Tilda Swinton for uttering the phrase, “There are laws about erections now, aren’t there?” We don’t need all those short film Oscars. Just swap one of them out and no one will be the wiser.

Michael Fassbender And Carey Mulligan Wow Us At The London Critics’ Circle Awards

Carey Mulligan was a repeat offender at the 2012 London Critics’ Circle Awards held at the BFI Southbank yesterday. Not that we have a huge problem with it because that Roland Mouret Spring 2012 dress is boss. She paired the red jersey dress with white leather flower appliqués — called “Edith” —  with a pair of blue YSL Palais pumps. Carey wore the same dress with black pumps only last week at a Fox Studios party at the Chateau Marmont in L.A. Her co-star in Shame, Michael Fassbender, looks ridiculously hot (as usual) in a three-piece suit. Michael is pitted against Ewan McGregorin our weekly Hotness poll — have you voted yet? They share screen space in Haywire, and we don’t know how we’re going to concentrate on the movie with those two men in it.

Shame was nominated for Best British Film of the Year while Carey and Michael picked up nomination each for Best British Actor of the Year and Best British Actress of the Year. They may not have won but they win through red carpet domination. Click on our gallery to watch them in action.

LL Cool J To Host The Grammys — Is That A Good Thing?

For the first time in seven years, the Grammy Awards are getting a host: LL Cool J, the veteran host and co-producer of the Grammy Nominations Concert Live show, according to Grammy.com. Now this raises a few questions: 1) For what percentage of the show will Cool James be wearing his sunglasses? 2) Will he be covering up those beautiful arms of his with a tux the whole time? 3) Will he be any good? As we’ve learned from uncomfortable experience (ahem, James Franco and Anne Hathaway), non-comedians don’t have a good track record as awards show hosts. But LL never ceases to surprise us with his many talents. I mean, he has been acting since 1985′s Kush Groove, and he managed to hold his own opposite Queen Latifah in Last Holiday. He’s written four books. And his ex-Navy Seal character on NCIS: Los Angeles speaks Arabic fluently (and yes, that show is still on CBS, the home of the Grammy Awards on February 12). Wrangling a few musicians onstage should be cake, right? Now for the real question — do we really need anyone to host the show? Vote below, and then watch LL’s collabo with Elmo after the jump.

The Artist Earns 12 BAFTA Nods — Here Are The Real 5 Reasons To See It

So, The Artist, a movie with by a French director, with French stars, that takes place in Hollywood, is so completely dominating awards season that it’s earned 12 nods for the British kudosfest the BAFTAs. It’s already won three Golden Globes and four Critics’ Choice awards. And it’s nominated for all the other big pre-Oscar awards: NBR, PGA, DGA, SAG and Independent Spirit. But we worry that all this lofty buzz (not to mention the attention it garnered during Cannes) is actually doing the opposite of drawing certain people to the theaters. A critically acclaimed, bound-to-be-Oscar-nominated black-and-white silent movie by a foreign dude? “No thanks,” some of you are saying. But I am here to say you are wrong. Here’s why you should see it:

1. Uggie as “The Dog.” If you saw the Jack Russell terrier hamming it up onstage at the Globes, you got a tiny taste of his scene-stealing antics. Also, Robert Pattinson fans should recognized this talented pooch as Queenie from Water for Elephants. He’s not just a pretty face, either — his heroic feats rival Lassie’s in the pic, and he may have made us cry once or twice. There’s even a campaign for him to get an Oscar.

The Golden Globes Back Story: 20 Of The Sexiest Backs On The Red Carpet

Swooping cowls, cut-outs, drapes, racer-backs, sheer lace work … Golden Globe gowns were as sexy from the back as they were in front this year. Whether it was Lea Michele‘s sheer silver Marchesa to co-star Dianna Agron’s and Evan Rachel Wood’s avian-inspired, red-hot lacy Giles Deacon dress and Gucci Premiere emerald gown, respectively —- the back is officially back. A couple of other favorites include a Glee actress again. Naya Rivera stunned in a silver Vera Wang gown which had a lovely keyhole back. We also truly appreciated the back view of Kathleen Robertson’s Maria Lucia Hohan dress, Stacey Keibler’s stunning Valentino, Kate Beckinsale’s Roberto Cavalli and Heidi Klum’s sexy Calvin Klein. Golden Globes Battle Of The Bands: Charlize Theron Vs. Michelle Williams

Two of the most stylish women in Hollywood picked the same accessory at the Golden Globes this year. Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams both put on  girly headbands to complement their gorgeous gown. Charlize is on our 20 Best-Dressed list, FYI. She wore a delicate, bejewelled silver headband, that looked lovely with her side-swept waves and her Dior Couture gown. Michelle wore a jeweled, vintage Fred Leighton headband, which vibed beautifully with her strawberry blond hair and navy and black Jason Wu dress. The question is, who do you think won the battle of the bands?

Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman’s Golden Globe Dress Gets Out-Marchesa’d By Olivia Wilde

Georgina Chapman is Marchesa, people. She established the brand back in 2004 with Keren Craig, and we all know how the brand took off after that. Everyone wears Marchesa at some point, but if anyone should get the most tulle, the biggest ruffle and the most intricate of drapes, it’s Georgina because she owns the frickin’ thing. All she needs to do is sketch something real quick, and it’s that one design that no one else will have. So, when we saw her Grecian gown with the embellished neckline and cuffs at the Golden Globes, we were a bit surprised she chose that particular number. Because Olivia Wilde already wore it four months ago (in September 2011) for the world premiere of Butter in Toronto. Something more original next time, perhaps, Georgina? Who do you think wore it better?

We Vote Gerard Butler As The Official 2012 Golden Globes Ham

We’re a bit flummoxed as to how someone could ham it up to such a high degree and still look so sexy? But that’s Gerard Butler for you. He’s giving Piper Perabo a run for her money in the comedy department and dare we say it, he won. That isn’t just any three-piece that he’s wearing, either. Gerard wore a Salvatore Ferragamo tux with a hefty Roger Dubuis watch to the Golden Globes. He can make all the funny faces he wants, we’re still ga-ga for Gerry. We also have a bonus picture of him doin’ his thang after the jump.  Read more…

Golden Globes Mystery: What’s Going On Here With Madonna And Jessica Biel?

From this photograph, it seems that something serious is about to go down between Madonna and Jessica Biel on the Golden Globes red carpet. Random blonde lady in black in the middle seems to be the referee. Biel and Madge seem poised in classic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fighting poses. What’s the beef about? Does Madonna want more than Four Minutes with Justin Timberlake? Does Jessica have a problem with the fact that Madonna in Reema Acra may just look (way) hotter than her? Has the quantity of granny lace on Jess’ Elie Saab dress made Madge see red? Answers below, people.  Read more…

Octavia Spencer Complains About Her Louboutins And 10 Other Great Golden Globes Press Room Moments

There’s a party going on right here at the Beverly Hilton. The Golden Globes truly are a celebration to last through out the year. (Check out our favorite moments from the show!) Dare we say that it might even be the most fun night in Hollywood… EVER. Everyone — press, crew, celebs — is in good spirits, the booze is plentiful, and the emphasis is on having a good time. And everything is so pretty! The Beverly Hilton is a beautiful and iconic spot any day of the week, but there’s something extra magical about tonight’s event. The red carpet actually felt like a living, breathing thing and it. Is. FIERCE.

But the best part of the night was, of course, hearing from the winners, in all their sweet, excited glory. We were stationed in the press room and had the privilege of listening to all their best moments — from the absolutely ridiculous to the downright cry-worthy. We count ‘em down for you below.

  • Octavia Spencer kicking her shoes off in the middle of answering questions, and then delivering this important message: “Christian Louboutin, I love you, but when you have this much weigh you gotta give us a little platform.”
  • George Clooney answering the “Where is Ryan Gosling?” question: “He’s [working] in Thailand. And you know what they do in Thailand.
  • Matt LeBlanc having a “Joey” moment onstage, answering a reporter’s question with “How you doin’?”
