Beyoncé had an intense 2009 and is pretty burned out as a result. You’d be tired too if you had an 11-month touring schedule, were upstaged by your male “Single Ladies” dancers on SNL, performed for Barack Obama‘s inauguration, and had to allow Taylor Swift to finish her VMA acceptance speech all in one calendar year. Now that it’s 2010, Ms. Knowles is taking some much-needed time off.
Beyoncé has confirmed that once her I am... world tour ends next month, she’ll be taking some “me” time, explaining “It’s definitely time to take a break, to recharge my batteries. I’d like to take about six months and not go into the studio. I need to just live life, to be inspired by things again. I’m going to do random things. I want to go to restaurants, maybe take a class and see some movies and Broadway shows.” And maybe get pregnant? Because seriously, the spawn of Beyoncé and Jay-Z would probably be the most musically-gifted child ever.
We hope Beyoncé enjoys her sabbatical and in the meantime, we’ll just be watching babies dance to “Single Ladies” on YouTube to get our fix. [Photo: Getty Images]
Poor Mariah Carey. Apparently she mistook herself for Barack Obama‘s third daughter, and thought she was supposed to sit with the First Family during our new president’s inauguration. When she discovered that someone had the audacity to seat her in the V.I.P. section – along with Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Bruce Springsteen and Alicia Keys – she flipped out and was apparently “furious.”
A source close to Mimi told the NY Post that, “somehow she thought she’d be up with the Obama family. When she realized she wasn’t, she bailed.”
We know Mrs. Cannon’s had a bit of a comeback in recent years, but let’s not forget – this is still the woman who starred in Glitter. She’s lucky to still be considered V.I.P. [Photo: WireImage]

Welcome to The Rant, where we let Scandalist scribe Kate Spencer blow a gasket. In this episode, Kate rants about bad hat fashion at Barack Obama‘s Inaugration — including Aretha Franklin‘s enormous bow accoutrement and the fur mountain that topped Jay-Z‘s head.
The parties continued long after Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th President yesterday, and Scandalist‘s own Libby Keatinge brings you the inside news from the inaugural balls and parties. Click the photos below to enter our gossip diary.
While most of the country spent last night glued to the TV watching President Obama and the First Lady dance to “At Last” over and over again, celebrities swarmed the Capitol celebrating at various balls in Washington D.C. We’ve gathered pics of all the stars and their glamorous (or in the case of Fall Out Boy, not so glamorous) outfits for your viewing pleasure below. Just think, you can squeal with delight at Michelle Obama and Jill Biden‘s gorgeous gowns all over again. Wheeeee! [Photos: GettyImages]
Well, it looks like the rumors were off the mark, as our favourite celesbian couple Samantha and Lindsay Lohan-Ronson (hey, we like the sound of that double-barrelled!) have been snapped out and about together for the first time in flipping ages. They pitched up in Washington D.C. for the Declare Yourself Inauguration kick-off event, and shall we say it, looked really cute together on the red carpet. And they even spent a precious few minutes puffing away on the cigarettes outside later together, too. Hey, the couple that smoke together, stay together. Or something like that.

Look who we just spotted enjoying President Barack Obama‘s (!!!) inauguration! It’s Diddy, Beyonce, and a dude in a giant fur hat. Oh wait, that’s Jay-Z, sporting the first fashion faux pas of the Inauguration. We almost gave that title to Aretha Franklin‘s bow hat, but she rocked it too hard to deserve a diss, even if that bow almost did eat her head.
Also spotted: Oprah Winfrey, Adrien Grenier, Rachel Leigh Cook, Sting, Trudie Styler, Spike Lee, Denzel Washington, Anne Hathaway, the Bush twins, Malia and Sasha Obama, and of course our new President Obama and Vice President Biden with their wives Michelle and Jill! Lately, Michelle Obama‘s sleek style has hijacked the conversation surrounding the new First Lady, stealing the focus from her accomplishments as a scholar, lawyer, hospital administrator, mother, wife and all around bad-ass. But it’s easy to see why – she is glamorous without being gaudy and sparkles yet doesn’t hijack the limelight with her looks. In short, she’s perfection.
Mrs. Obama didn’t waste anytime bringing her fashion sense to Capitol Hill – check out the pic snapped today of her inaugural outfit. We’re loving the look – perfect for a day that’s both serious and celebratory. What do you think? [Photo: GettyImages]
