We’re not shy about our vampire obsession around here. And even as angels and werewolves and dystopian battlefields take over the screens and bookshelves, it doesn’t look like sexy bloodsuckers are going anywhere. Sure, they experience a bit of boom and bust, but a look back at the last 100 years in pop culture proves their undying staying power. In 2011, our blood was stirred by a nice crop of undead seducers, from Eric and Bill on True Blood to Damon and Stefan on The Vampire Diaries to the entire morally upstanding Cullen family. There were others who leapt from the pages of books whose racy covers we sometimes had to keep hidden — Bloodlines, the spinoff of YA series Vampire Academy, made its debut; Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series is still going strong, and in City of Fallen Angels, the latest from Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, vampire Simon went from best friend to hot commodity. There were even a couple of “nonfiction” vamps who made it onto our 2011 list.
Before you check out our 25 faves, watch who such celebrity vampire experts as True Blood’s Joe Manganiello and Twilight’s Elizabeth Reaser, and non-experts like Andrew W.K., Robin Thicke and Questlove would nominate for Vampire of the Year. Because we just declared that a thing.
Now, take a look at our top 25, vote on your faves and let us know in the comments if we missed any of your favorites.
2011 will be forever known as the year that Rihanna officially shunned pants. We’ve already brought you a pantsless Rihanna retrospective, but to be honest we still had way too many super hot pants-free pix stocked up. And these are just from this year alone! And because the holidays are a time for giving, we’ve decided to share Riri’s 30 hottest pants-free looks of 2011!
It’s been an amazing year for Rihanna, and it’s even more incredible to think of all the stuff she did without bothering to cover up. We all have nightmares about being pantsless in public, but Rihanna does more without wearing pants than most people do in their entire lives. Allow us to demonstrate with our handy timeline…
Rihanna’s Year Without Pants
Rihanna set the tone for the coming year with an interview for British GQ Magazine, in which the singer addresses her haters. “People think I’m overly sexy,” she said. “It bothers them for some reason. Girls don’t like to see other girls dressed sexy.”
So in defiance, she posed pantless on the cover! But that was just the beginning…
In the age of Twitter, it’s pretty amazing that more celebrities aren’t putting their foot in it these days. But enough of our favorite (or least favorite) actors, musicians and other public figures managed to say and do the kind of awful things that simultaneously give publicists strokes and keep them in business. After those awful things come the kind of public apologies that make us cringe, squirm and thank god we’re not in their shoes. From Chris Brown to Gilbert Gottfried, Arnold Schwarzenegger to Lea Michele, Hilary Swank to Mythbusters, we had a lot of Schadenfreude to enjoy in 2011. We’re pretty sure the culprits would like us to forget these moments, but here’s a little gallery to remind you:

It’s been a busy year for Robert Pattinson, who spent much of his time shuffling through airports in Vancouver, Toronto, St. Thomas, London and Los Angeles as he shot Breaking Dawn and Cosmopolis, promoted Water for Elephants and hung out with his better half. In between all the traveling and guitar-lugging, Rob fit in an eventful year filled with magazine covers (Amish Hat, never forget), an adopted dog-child, a bevy of gorgeous Gucci suits and a memorable Movie Awards appearance filled with F-bombs and awkward jokes. We salute the Year in Rob with our favorite photos and moments, below.
It has been one heck of a 2011 for Beyonce. She dropped her fourth studio album, 4, released over five music videos, performed at numerous award shows, joined Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign to end childhood obesity and … hmm, what are we missing? Oh, yeah, she made a little Babyonce! (Forgive us, we’re exhausted just typing all of that out.) It’s safe to say that Bey has had a pretty spectacular year both personally and professionally, and she managed to accomplish it all with style and grace. We are nearly paralyzed with awe, but we managed to mobilize enough to gather 30 of her most fabulous and stunning looks from 2011. There is nothing this talented woman can’t do, and do simultaneously. Check out shots of B before the bump and pics of her fiercely rocking her new addition!
What did we do before celebrities found out about Twitter? Whether it’s hot bodies in bikinis, hot bodies out of bikinis, scabs, famous people without makeup or ill-advised tattoos, 2011 was a great year for celebrity TMI tweets. Everyone from Gaga and Kanye to Katy Perry and Mariah Carey wanted to share the inside of their hearts (and pants and bathroom stalls) with the world. Not that we want them to stop, mind you! Not like we would ever want them to stop. In the meantime, check out the 28 Best TwitPics of 2011: Because you can’t untweet something once it’s been tweeted, no matter how hard you try.
