In our opinion, Michelle Williams can do no wrong. She is our Brooklyn homegirl with a flawless sense of style, and we are swooning over her Cannes appearance for her upcoming film Blue Valentine. Williams and her newly bleached blond crop looked amazing (she and Carey Mulligan might have to duke it out in the battle for most chic pixie hipster), and her red carpet poses with Ryan Gosling, who plays her husband in the film, are killing us. Can they please be the new indie couple that we swoon over? And look at them with their on-screen daughter Faith Wladyka. Most adorable fake family ever.

And the Naomi Campbell goes to…Biutiful! Amores Perros director Alejandro González Iñárritu‘s new film inspired the world’s angriest model to step out in a dramatic golden gown that made her look like walking trophy. Also attending Biutiful‘s Cannes premiere were stars like Gael Garcia Bernal, Meg Ryan, Naomi Watts and Kate Beckinsale, catching plenty of attention with her right leg sticking waaay out of her high-slit skirt. The math isn’t perfect—you have to skip his TV movies, short films and anthology works like New York Stories (or keep New York Stories and skip the redubbed Japanese movie What’s Up Tiger Lily?)—but You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger is arguably the 40th feature full-length directed by Woody Allen. It’s an especially impressive feat considering he’s been directing for less than 50 years—the 74-year-old hasn’t gone a year without a film since 1981!
Though Stranger star Antonio Banderas was too busy pimping the latest Shrek in LA to celebrate with the Woodster at Cannes, co-stars like Josh Brolin and Naomi Watts were in attendance for this weekend’s premiere, along with well-wishers ranging from Diane Lane to Evangeline Lilly to Jean Claude Van Damme. See what everyone wore in the gallery below.

It feels like the Wall Street sequel has been like 25 years in the making…oh, wait, it has. But now the film that stars Shia LaBeouf as Gordon Gekko‘s greedy financial district protége is finally ready to premiere at Cannes, and there was an abundance of men in light-colored suits there to celebrate. We don’t often visit the south of France, so that look is probably the norm – one person who opted for a burst of color however was the film’s director, Oliver Stone, who appears to be slowly morphing into late 1970′s Marlon Brando. LaBeouf and his Money Never Sleeps co-star and girlfriend Carey Mulligan both looked stylin’ in the tropical heat though, as always Mulligan can do no wrong with her fashion choices.

Once again, Cate Blanchett looks stunning on the red carpet, this time at Robin Hood premiere in Cannes. What’s more noticeable though is just how much she towers over everyone. Posing with producer Brian Grazer, Chau-Giang Thi Nguyen, co-star Russell Crowe and his wife Danielle Spence, Blanchett is literally head and shoulders above them – and that’s even with Grazer’s spiked hair. Blanchett wasn’t the only one with a voluminous outfit, check out our gallery to see who else dressed to excess at the premiere.

So, Lindsay Lohan’s playing a porn star in a movie. We’d reported that she’s going to portray the legendary adult-film actress Linda Lovelace in a film called Inferno. Unfortunately, the movie’s not getting her as much mileage as she was hoping for. If Lilo wants to make it to Cannes this year, she’s going to have to pay for it out of her own pocket. She’s apparently trying desperately to wrangle some moolah and swing a freebie to get there but no one seems to be coughing up the cash. “She’s been asking around, but hasn’t had any takers,” snarks a source.
Oh, and here’s the juice about the movie she’s about to star in, straight from the director Matthew Wilder himself, “It’s not something I can imagine that anybody would ever be turned on by, unless they’re really sick.” Sounds…interesting.
Is Cate Blanchett interested in a superhero movie? Because after seeing the shoulderpads on her Armani dress at Cannes yesterday, we think she’d do a great job as The Wasp in The Avengers. Cate’s in France to celebrate the premiere of Robin Hood, in which she plays Maid Marian against Russell Crowe‘s titular archer. Though Crowe’s shoulders looked plenty sharp in his suit, the actor’s real weapons were his young sons Charlie and Tennyson, who finally have an unrestricted film of their father’s they can see on the big screen (we bet they wish Russell brought his sword, though). See photos of the stars in the gallery below.
Phew, the girl’s got some sense. Hayden Panettiere has called it a day with Welsh TV presenter — and ex of Pamela Anderson — Steve Jones, after the pair were spotted getting cozy on a yacht in Cannes. Hayden blames that old chestnut, “distance” on the split, although we’d say a 13-year-old age gap might also be a valid reason when you’re only 19 years old.
“I’m single and mingling. Steve lives in London, the distance is a bit too much. I’m not dating anyone specifically and I’m not looking for a house with anyone. Cannes was a great experience. I was on vacation and some friends were going so I decided to come along. It was fun,” she said.
Firmly put. Now your next mission, Hayden, is to find a suitable boy under 25. Although we’re not holding out much hope. [Photo: Splash News Online]
Although they were swapping spit throughout the Cannes Film Festival, Paris Hilton vehemently denies one alleged PDA incident with boyfriend Doug Reinhardt.
British papers claimed the heiress was asked to leave David Furnish‘s yacht party after being caught in a “compromising position” in the bathroom of the boat.
“I would never do that,” Paris says. “It’s so lame that people will just create these crazy stories. I can’t believe the stories people will make up, so gross! I’m so sick of all these false rumors. It’s not fair that writers can get away with it. They have no credibility.” [Source: Us Weekly; Photo: Getty Images]
While Shoot ‘Em Up star Monica Bellucci was in the south of France for the closing ceremony of Cannes, thieves were stealing tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry from her Paris apartment—as well as Bellucci’s passport.
“It was clearly a meticulously planned burglary…there have been plenty of cases of the homes of professional footballers being targeted while they are playing in high-profile matches,” said an investigating officer. “But this appears to be the first time that the same kind of thing has happened to actors.’”
Bellucci and husband Vincent Cassel (Ocean’s Twelve) were at Cannes to promote her French thriller, Don’t Look Back and his Brazilian drama, Adrift. The couple has yet to comment on the robbery.
