Amy Winehouse‘s brilliant dad Mitch has been doing his bit for drug treatment research in the UK this week by addressing Parliament about the issues around it – and he’s also managed to confirm the rumors his daughter’s had a bit of a boost. We recently reported the claims that Amy’s spent an incredible $56k on getting a new rack, and speaking to daytime show “This Morning,” Mitch confirms the op did happen.
“[Amy's] Fantastic, fantastic. Her boobs are great as well. I shouldn’t have said that should I? She looks absolutely fantastic,” he said. OK, so it’s not of the haunting calibre of Joe Simpson’s now-legendary quip about daughter Jessica’s assets (“She’s got double-D’s! You can’t cover those suckers up!”), but we think there should be a blanket rule. Dads should never be allowed to speak about their daughter’s breasts, ever. Actually, they shouldn’t even be aware that they exist. [Photo: Splash News Online]
Mel B’s hot, fierce body has become a new career for her these past couple of years (burlesque show, DVD, underwear modeling, various pap shots poolside with bikini and heels – you get the picture), but unless we hadn’t already guessed, it takes fearsome work to look the way she does. The former/current/oh, who cares anymore Spice Girl is the face of International Fitness Week (apparently), so gave an interview to the UK’s New! magazine terrifying us with how hard she works at it.
- On how she stays fit: “I like to work out with other people – we might do an army workout or hike if I’m in LA. This week I’ve been running – I ran six miles yesterday and six miles the day before.”
- On doing 600 situps each day: “I do it at the end of my workout. I do it every ten reps so it goes quickly. I rest every 200.”
- On being “addicted” to exercise: “Once you get into it, it’s like a drug.”
- On her diet: “I’ve trained my body to crave clean, healthy food.”
Our whole body is crying out for a nap on the sofa and a bag of Kettle chips just reading that. Still, at least Mel gives herself a break by knocking back the wine every time she’s in London (seemingly). You can take the girl out of Britain, but you can’t take the Britain out of the girl! Rachel Zoe is responsible for putting some of the most glam Hollywood looks together, but she admits she’s not always gorgeous herself. The stylist is a celebrity in her own right, hence her Bravo series “The Zoe Project.” Zoe explained that seeing herself on TV was a bit of a shock that she wasn’t prepared for. After seeing the first season of the show, she says, “I thought, ‘oh my god do I really look like that everyday?’ I need less hair, less makeup, less everything. I can’t even watch it. It was way too much of everything. Why didn’t anyone tell me I looked like that?” Um, because we thought you knew something we didn’t, Rachel. You’re the stylist.
Zoe has also been criticized for encouraging her clients to be thin, and she herself is famously tiny (er, unhealthy-looking). To that end, she says, “Not one of my clients is a size zero. It’s not the norm.” That’s a relief but it’s something we wish Zoe would consider for herself – being that skinny is just bananas.

In a totally predictable Hollywood move, apparently Mischa Barton has been told to drop the poundage. Fresh out of rehab for addiction problems and straight back onto the set of a new show about supermodels – which is bound to make anyone feel pretty insecure – Britain’s Star magazine is claiming that bosses are demanding the fragile actress get “in shape” and drop 10lb.
“She knows that means they are calling her fat behind her back. She knows she is heavier than she needs to be,” says a source.
Call us woefully naive, but wouldn’t it be nice to see a healthy-sized Mischa appear just how she is on a show that’s clearly going to be all about body image? Just so it can have a dose of – what do you call it again – actual reality? [Photo: Getty Images]
Kevin Federline, seen here posing for his “Before” photo, is lining himself up with EP-2, otherwise known as Extreme Physical Performance, to shill for the weight loss product. The former dancer (remember when he was a dancer?) has let himself go as of late and is ready to start shedding weight in preparation for a new reality show. Even Britney Spears has reportedly been poking fun of his figure, referring to him as Kevin Fatterline to her friends. While we think that people who live in crazy glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, that is pretty funny.
The company has reportedly offered Federline $2.5 million to endorse their muscle-building diet supplement but Federline hasn’t found the time, in between smoking cigs and babysitting his four kids, to sign on the dotted line just yet. [Photo: GettyImages]
If only we could all be Rebecca Romjin. The actress has dropped around 60 pounds since giving birth to twins in December (her hubby is Jerry O’Connell), and she did it by just sitting around being gorgeous. “I think within the first three weeks, I took off, like, 35 pounds without doing anything!” She gushed, much to the horror of real women everywhere.
Romjin claims she hasn’t had time to work out, and that her weight-loss secret involves that age-old tradition: breastfeeding. “Breastfeeding is the very best diet I’ve been on. It’s amazing,” says the star. “It’s like you have to eat 5,000 extra calories a day or you can’t produce enough food for them. So, that’s been fun as well.”
But don’t go hating hard just yet. Rebecca also admits that she’s not in the best shape of her life, but has one more secret up her sleeve that keeps her looking good. “I’m not pretending to be back to the shape I was in beforehand anyway,” Romjin confesses. “I still have a ways to go…We’ve got Spanx underneath almost everything.” [Photo: GettyImages]
Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna‘s trainer Tracy Anderson horrified us when in an interview, she declared “anyone can have a teeny-tiny body.” Clearly disregarding the debatable values of wanting to look like a toned seven-year-old, she’s the celebrity trainer du jour, and apparently has now set her sights on getting rid of Scarlett Johanssen’s lovely curves honing Scarlett Johanssen‘s body. Star magazine claims she’s lost a stone (14 pounds) already by following Tracy’s “method” while filming Iron Man 2 with Gwyneth.
“The pair have been doing workouts with Gwyneth’s personal trainer Tracy Anderson. Scarlett has been also staying away from carbs. She has always been happy with her curves, but recently has been feeling the pressure to lose a few pounds,” the mag says. Don’t do it, Scarlett – reach for the bread basket! Is it just us, or does Tracy sound like the Rachel Zoe of workouts? [Photo: Getty Images]
“Kelly Clarkson pregnant” has been high up on Google Trends all morning, which perplexed us as she very recently revealed that she doesn’t want kids. “Oh, my God, I have no desire,” the singer told USA Today. “I would not be a good mother.”
So what gives? According to speculation on The Insider, it’s just “weight gain.” You’d think the fine citizens of America, in which 63 percent of the country is overweight, would be able to distinguish a couple pounds of water weight from a growing baby belly (seriously, WTF is wrong with you, America?) . After all, it’s the two things we’re most obsessed with in the U.S. But what’s most troubling to us is the assumption that Kelly’s gained something other than commercial success. That’s all we’re looking for these days – bellys to criticize or celebrate – even when there’s no reason to do so. [Photo: GettyImages]
As if we needed further proof that yoga is awesome: Ashley Dupre, the woman made famous for “servicing” ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer as an escort, is crediting the ancient practice with saving her life. “Yoga has really helped me turn it into a huge learning experience,” revealed the ex-hooker. “I’m working hard to take what I went through and turn it into something positive. Yoga helps me focus.”
An added bonus of her new addiction? A blooming BFF-ship with a famous fellow yogi. “Russell Simmons and I have been going to the same class, and he’s just an amazing and wonderful person and spirit,” Dupre says of the rap mogul and vegan. “He’s become a mentor, and has helped me work through my issues. I feel liberated and honored that people like him support me. I’m starting to feel respected for who I am.”
If you’re hungry to support Dupre too, you’ll soon get your chance – her “pop rock” album is set to drop in January 2010. [NYP. Photo: Splash News Online]
Since she had adorable daughter Harlow and rediscovered a couple pounds, the media focus has switched away from Nicole Richie’s teeny-tiny frame and onto new painfully thin stars (hello, Amy Winehouse!). Interviewed in the latest issue of UK Glamour though, Nicole attempts to defuse questions about her extreme skinny phase as just something, like, totally normal.
“People get 10lb heavier, 10lb lighter, but 10lb is a lot on me. People do it all the time. Get a little too heavy, get a little too thin. And I had a moment when I was too thin. But I don’t think that’s much different to anyone else,” she said.
Uh-huh. We’ve got a feeling it was a little more than “fluctuating” 10lb that transformed Nicole into that protruding clavicle-bearer of a few years back. But, hey, she’s pregnant again and her daughter is cute as a button, so we’ll let this one slide …
