Good Morning America‘s Josh Elliott really earned his pay today, when he sat down with Kris Humphries and his mom, Debra Humphries, for Kris’ first interview since Kim Kardashian filed for divorce. As Elliott asked about the split, Kris responded again and again with the words “focused,” “basketball,” “moving forward,” “family” and “my foundation” — just rearranged for each question. And still Elliott pressed on.
To a question about what Humphries hopes to gain by filing for an annulment, he said, “Right now I’m focused on basketball; other things will take care of themselves. It’s a great day for the NBA and the fans, for most people camp starts today at 4 p.m. Hopefully I’ll be on a team soon and get ready to go.” Read more…
It’s even almost a year since Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson announced their divorce, which means almost 365 days of them living out The Best Divorce Of All Time. Okay, sure, we’re certain both of ScarJo and Ryan spent plenty of hours crying on the bathroom floor, but despite the public nature of their split, both actors have been champs at being civil in public. “I’m a big believer that when something feels right, you should do it,” Scarlett explains in this mouth’s Cosmo. “I’m a big believer in instinct. Getting married was the right thing to do because it was natural. It grew out of a romance and love and a desire to have a future with somebody, and I was very fortunate that I married somebody who turned out to be the person I thought he would be.” She then defended Green Lantern against its critics, quoted all the funniest lines from Van Wilder complete with character voices and wrote out a treatise on how great Ryan’s shoulders look in a suit…essentially.
In case you’re wondering why the two split, if their marriage was as ScarJo put it, “the best thing I ever did,” the answer isn’t Sean Penn or Justin Long or even Blake Lively, who Reynolds was spotted smooching this week, even though that would make for a much more exciting interview. “Being married is a living, breathing process. I think I was not fully aware of the peaks and the valleys. I wasn’t prepared to hunker down and do the work,” Johansson admits. “Both of us were extremely busy. We spent so much time apart. It’s very difficult.” Celebrities! Their marriages fall apart just like ours! But with less screaming and tire-slashing.
Kris Humphries’ rep confirmed earlier this week that he would be filing for legal separation from Kim Kardashian in the hopes that it would lead to an annulment of their 72-day marriage instead of a divorce. Now we have the actual paperwork filed in court yesterday. It cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation and “fraud” as the basis for declaring the marriage void. Humphries’ response to Kardashian’s divorce filing also seems to be an attempt to skirt around their prenup, stating that property rights are still undetermined. Or, maybe we’re cynics and Kris is holding on to his religious belief that divorce is wrong. We shall see. Check out the papers below. Read more…
Everyone get into the parking lot! There’s about to be a fight…over the equitable distribution of property and debt! Well, hopefully not, but that’s our first impression after finding out that Kris Humphries is seeking an annulment, rather than a divorce, from his erstwhile wife Kim Kardashian. After news got out that the NBA player was filing for legal separation, Humphries’ rep confirmed to Us Weekly that Kris is hoping a separation will lead to an annulment of their 72-day-long marriage, an outcome he sees as preferable to entering into potentially messy divorce proceedings. If a judge grants the couple an annulment, their marriage would be considered void; grounds for an annulment can range from anything from fraud (hmmm) to bigamy (we can only dream!). We’re assuming Kim isn’t particularly interested in a separation or else she would have, you know, filed for that instead. We could be wrong to smell trouble, but in the meantime…everyone take out your earrings and Vas up your face. Just in case!
In the latest issue of Us Weekly, sources close to Kim Kardashian paint Kris Humphries in a pretty terrible light. “He belittled her in front of people,” a source reportedly told the magazine. “He’d call her stupid. It was truly sickening.” He also allegedly called Kim “fat ass.”
The report set off some alarm bells in our head. Especially after we watched the promo for the new season of Kourtney & Kim Take New York. “Your wife has to find out your in a different country on Twitter,” Kim scoldingly tells Kris, after a number of scenes of him and Kourtney‘s man Scott Disick partying. “If it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be,” Kourtney says. We don’t know if they’re talking about Kim and Kris’ marriage in that clip, but we have also heard, via RadarOnline, that the show will paint Kim as a “victim” this season. And this decision was supposedly made after Kim saw all of the footage shot during their brief time together. Read more…
Multiple reports are coming in as we speak stating that Demi Moore has filed for divorce from Ashton Kutcher, after six years of marriage.
Not that anyone’s surprised, mind you. We are still sad, however. After all, we hoped that camping trip and those Kabbalah center visits were working to heal the wounds opened after Ashton’s much-publicized tryst with Sara Leal. Not to mention the ones inflicted by totally unsourced rumors that Ashton was the father of January Jones’ baby.
“As a woman, a mother and a wife, there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life,” Demi said in a statement.
Shortly after the announcement, Ashton tweeted, “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK.”
Kim Kardashian haters, stand down! The backlash to the backlash has begun, and it’s nice to see some other celebs rush to Kim’s defense. Well, maybe not rush; she did announce her divorce over two weeks ago. Olivia Wilde, herself newly divorced, repped Kim super-hard to the New York Post this week, explaining, “People judge you because divorce is seen as failure. [Kim] took a risk. No one should be attacking her. Our attention should be focused on things that are truly scandalous.” See, in Hollywood, Kim Kardashian’s 72 day marriage isn’t scandalous at all. Olivia is just trying to show us what Kim looks like…through famous eyes!
Meanwhile Tyler Perry responded to a proposes boycott of his upcoming film The Marriage Counselor over Kim’s minor role. “She literally has millions of young people following her. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film. To have the young people that look up to her, see her in a film that is about, what happens in life when you make the wrong choices,” the director wrote in a statement. Is anyone else now picturing Kim, Olivia and Tyler breaking into some kind of fabulous First Wives Club musical number? If so, why not? Discuss your reasons below.
“All week we’ve just been crying and crying and posing and crying and …,” Nasim Pedrad whined, playing Kim Kardashian in SNL‘s hilarious spoof of “Kim’s Fairytale Divorce” over the weekend. Our stomachs still hurt from laughing. But seriously, folks. We’re not sure if Nasim can match the real-life posing Kim did in front of husband-for-now Kris Humphries‘ house in Minnesota on Sunday.
She was photographed standing on his back porch, looking distressed while talking on her cell. Here’s the thing: We know the impulse to step outside when you want a minute alone to talk on the phone, especially after a fight with someone inside the house. But that is a big freaking house. There are many rooms in which she could probably talk in private. And obviously, if you’re Kim Kardashian, you know there are paparazzi outside, ready to catch your every gesture. So, color us cynical, but that phone call seems a little much. Read more…
Talk about adding insult to injury. The New York Post noticed today that Kim Kardashian has unfollowed Kris Humphries on Twitter, even though he’s still following her. To be fair, his last post was on October 30, so maybe he’s just avoiding social-networking, or all Web activity, while he heals his broken heart. Don’t worry, Kris. Once you get back on your feet and embark on one of these promising new careers, you’ll have plenty of new loyal followers.
Interestingly, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher raised eyebrows in September when they apparently unfollowed each other in the wake of his alleged jacuzzi dalliance — practically confirming the story. But we wonder, do most people unfollow their recent exes? Or is it better to keep tabs on them, just in case? Well, you tell us:
