David Blaine is famous for enduring harsh physical conditions and calling it magic. Unfortunately, even though he can manage being trapped underwater for days at a time, he’s not immune to acts of God and dealing with them the way the rest of us non-illusionists would. So when his pregnant fianceé Alizee Guinochet went into labor during one of New York City’s recent blizzards, he did what any spazzing dad-to-be would do — he hitched a ride to the hospital on a snow plow.
Blaine was unable to catch a cab during the storm that fell on the city January 19th, so he and Guinochet got a ride to the hospital by flagging down the only vehicle they could find on the road, a plow. Guess he couldn’t work his street magic to clear the actual streets. Guinochet gave birth to a health baby girl at the hospital soon after and they’re both doing fine. The baby’s name has not been revealed yet. They’re probably still mulling over the perfect plow-related moniker.
Better pre-order those pink and blue Louboutin baby stilettos now: Mariah Carey announced the sex of her twins. According to their press release to Life & Style, Carey will be birthing a fabulous little boy and girl with happy husband Nick Cannon, who revealed Mariah’s due date will be late April or early May. “Even before we announced it was twins, I was trying to keep everything gender-neutral because I didn’t want to impose an identity on them too soon,” Mariah gushed. “There were fan contests on Twitter about what gender they are and rumors about them being two boys or two girls – but nobody guessed this!” Given that we know their sex, can we start imposing an identify on them now? Like, Fiercest Fetuses Ever, or Infants Most Likely To Have Rhinestone-Encrusted Baby Toys?
Cannon confirms baby names have been picked out, but there isn’t an Apple in the bunch. “They won’t be crazy names like Carburetor or something. But they’re definitely unique,” the singer jokes. Let’s see, Michael Jackson already used Prince and Paris, Nic Cage used Superman’s birth name Kal-El…do we have any Hello Kitties yet? She already has that room all set up; they might as well!
Congratulations to new mom, Christina Applegate! She gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday and has somehow kept it under wraps till now. Applegate and her fiance, musician Martyn LeNoble (bassist for Perry Farrell‘s band Porno For Pyros) have named their daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble and a family friend told People, “She’s a beautiful little girl and they are so happy and in love with her.” Their official statement announced , “Actress Christina Applegate and fiance, musician, Martyn LeNoble, welcomes daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 in Los Angeles. Mother and daughter are doing great.”
We’ve been rooting for Applegate, who is a breast cancer survivor, and were thrilled when the couple announced her pregnancy last July—with Christina wearing some stylish maternity clothes. We’re looking forward to seeing the pictures of the new family.

It’s pretty obvious that Kate Hudson is pregnant, but up until now, the actress hadn’t actually confirmed that she’s carrying Matt Bellamy‘s baby. During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show on Friday however, she finally opened up about the bun in her oven. “I’m just starting to pop,” she told the talk show host. “We have a couple of names, but we’re not telling anyone,” she continued, and said that the baby “feels like a girl, but I don’t know.”
One rumor Hudson was keen to dismiss was that she and Bellamy are engaged. When asked if she and the Muse frontman were planning to wed she replied “No, no, not that I know of! I don’t like putting that sort of pressure on it and I don’t feel it necessary to get married…I am 31, I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.” Hudson sounds like she’s taking after her mama Goldie Hawn. Hawn and Kurt Russell are easily Hollywood’s most famous common-law couple, and they’ve been pretty happy for twenty-five years now.

Kate Hudson has yet to confirm her pregnancy, but she isn’t doing much to fight the rumors. The movie star sported a noticeable bump under her sweater and bulky coat while leaving Heathrow Airport in England, with boyfriend Matthew Bellamy of the band Muse showing up ten minutes later with their luggage. She sure seemed in a good mood too…you might even say she was glowing.

There’s yet another young actress who may be joining the long list of mothers-to-be and new celebrity moms this year — Star Magazine reports that Hilary Duff is pregnant. Of course, they’re claiming she’s seven weeks pregnant, which is incredibly early to make this news public, so take this info with a grain of salt.
Duff married Mike Comrie, a hockey player for the Pittsburgh Penguins, last August. Maybe you’ll recall that the ceremony included a Vera Wang dress, ginormous ring, and lack of spell-check. The pair has openly discussed wanting children, but a source said that “They weren’t actively trying to conceive but agreed that if it happened, it happened.â€Â
If Lizzie McGuire is indeed pregnant, we wish them the very best!
We’re hopping the Clueless star is right now filling her closet with maternity clothes, setting her tiny early ’90s computer to “Match” and letting those racks spin, because Alicia Silverstone is pregnant! “I’ve been wanting to have a baby since I was 2 years old – I’m destined to be a mother,” Silverstone told People earlier this year. Her rep now confirms that baby Silverstone, Alicia’s first with musician husband Christopher Jarecki, is on the way. We are totally butt crazy in love with this news!
In addition to popping out the most adorable little Betty and/or Baldwin imaginable, Silverstone has her plate full in the new year with Ecotools, her line of green cosmetic brushes and Vamps, a supernatural romantic comedy with Krysten Ritter, Signourney Weaver and Clueless director Amy Heckerling. We are definitely looking forward to seeing more of Silverstone in 2011. We’re just glad it won’t be sporadically.

The baby brigade is really booming in Hollywood. Joining the list of fab moms is Selma Blair, who’s reportedly pregnant. She’s expecting her first child with her fashion designer boyfriend Jason Bleick. There’s no official statement from the couple yet, but the news is everywhere and a source told Star, “Selma and Jason are ecstatic! It’s still early on but they have started telling family members and close friends. Selma never thought she could be this happy. Her life right now is a dream come true!”
Blair was previously married to Ahmet Zappa for two years, till 2006, and started dating Bleick last year after ending a relationship with Mikey Day (who she was with since 2008). The source continues talking about their relationship revealing, “Selma started dating Jason last year and although the pregnancy was a surprise, she couldn’t be happier. They gave each other promise rings but they have no plans to marry.”
Congratulations to the couple! We wonder when the baby is due and what new star sign he or she will be?

If 2010 was the year of the celebrity breakup, 2011 is the year of the celebrity pregnancy. There have been at least a dozen births or pregnancy announcements since the new year began, and if Us Magazine is to be believed, Kate Hudson is among the expectant mothers. Us claims that Hudson and boyfriend Matt Bellamy, the frontman of Muse, are expecting and that the actress is a mere 14 weeks along. Hudson also has a seven-year-old son, Ryder, from her marriage to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson.
Hudson and Bellamy have been together for nine months but it’s been an intense year for them. Within a month of dating, Bellamy met Hudson’s mom, Goldie Hawn, and the pair reportedly were house hunting in New York this summer for a place to live together. Hopefully they found a place with an extra bedroom!

We’re very interested to see how Rachel Zoe having a baby boy will affect the reality star’s parenting style—we doubt any of the other moms are going to wear Alexander McQueen’s Armadillo shoes to t-ball practice. While chatting with Women’s Wear Daily, Zoe hinted at the sex of her unborn offspring, saying. “It all depends on his arrival.” Following Rachel’s slip-up, husband Roger Berman confirmed, “It’s a little boy.” Despite denying the pregnancy in October only to confirm it via Twitter a month later, Zoe is well into her seventh month, a fact she’s not letting slow down her hummingbird-on-5-hour-energy-shots pace. “I’ve been asked to slow down. But to be totally honest, it’s kind of next to impossible when you’re planning your show and launching your collection, and in the middle of award season,” Rachel confirmed, before restyling the interviewer’s scarf, pinning a broach to Rodger’s wallet and flying around the room on a gust of her own manic energy.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Berman confirms their son will be fashionable from the minute he gets pushed from the womb, whether he likes it or not. “Look at me! I have no predisposition to fashion, but thanks to Rachel I can’t leave the house without worrying about whether or not my clothes match,” Berman joked. Watching Rachel Zoe try to handle a sugar-crazed seven-year-old or a petulant teen driver while draped in vintage Chanel makes us hope their reality show keeps going forever. Or at least until the kid starts potty-training.
