Oh, did you guys ever notice that Academy Award-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence is clinically obese? Oh no, because only a total moron would think that? Clearly you are not a film executive! “I eat like a caveman, I’ll be the only actress who doesn’t have anorexia rumors,” the Hunger Games star says in her new Elle interview. “In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress, I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach.” While some people might take umbrage with a thin, smoking hot 22-year-old claiming to be obese by anyone‘s definition of the word, we think it’s great. It’s not only great, in fact. It’s necessary.
You might recall back in April, when some critics were ragging on Jen’s size as unbelievably large and well-fed for a Panem resident. Lawrence allegedly scoffed it off, but apparently this has become a running theme in her rise to stardom. Personally, we’re glad Jennifer Lawrence has been consistently real with us with regards to how Hollywood perceives her…because it reminds us how totally divorced from reality Hollywood standards can be. If conventionally thin and attractive Jennifer Lawrence is obese, then clearly it’s the system that’s screwed up, not any one individual’s weight. If Jennifer Lawrence is “obese,” then the center cannot hold, people!
Let us burn a pleather garter belt in memorium: according to her interview in Elle, Taylor Momsen quit acting, unless you consider “acting like every parent’s waking nightmare” to be part of the craft. “I quit acting, actually,” the teenager-turned-front woman told the magazine. “I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band and that’s pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully I’ll be able to only do that for the rest of my life.” How is this girl living out everyone’s high school fantasy? 15-year-old us is burning with jealousy! To be fair, 15-year-old us also thought she was going to marry both Joshua Jackson and James Van Der Beek, so what did that little dweeb know?
Having bailed after five seasons as GG‘s Little Jenny, Momsen is currently touring Japan with her band Pretty Reckless. While there she can expose an entirely new continent to her special brand of “stripper boots” and audience make-outs, which even our 15-year-old self would find a little much.
How gorgeous does Demi Lovato look in Elle‘s September issue? With all the recent drama in her life and her phoenix-like return, we were hoping we weren’t going to get a candy-coated interview alongside the photo shoot. Luckily, she didn’t dissapoint. Nothing seems off topic in this piece especially when she talks about the start of her downfall. She recounts how she, “…was completely out of line all summer. Just the worst attitude — totally ungrateful”, leading up to her infamous fight with backup dancer Alex Welch. Again, she doesn’t (pardon the pun), hold her punches about it saying, “I just felt like she’d betrayed me. That’s the bottom line.”
But there’s also conciliatory Demi here. Someone who seems genuinely apologetic for her mistakes. About the whole mess that followed after the fight, she reveals, “When you punch someone on a plane, enough is enough. Right after, I texted my mom and just said, ‘I’m sorry’.” But lest you think her breakdown was all because of a broken relationship with one Joe Jonas, she reckons you’re wrong. Demi flat-out says, “I wouldn’t credit my meltdown to a guy. There was so much other stuff in my life.” Good show, right? We’re totally rooting for her! We also love the fact that she still seems feisty and hasn’t lost her edge even though she’s suitably apologetic.
