Kristen Stewart Is A ’60’s Goddess On The June Elle U.K. Cover, But Do You Prefer Her Old Elle Avatar?

Is Kristen Stewart guest starring on Mad Men? Because her new Elle UK June cover — seen on the left — made us think of a 60’s diva immediately. The shoot went down on March 13 in L.A. and aims to promote her forthcoming film Snow White And The Huntsman. They even documented Kristen’s time at the session sending out messages like, “On outfit 4. It’s still sunny but there’s a chill in the garden, so Kristen’s covering up in a zip-up hoodie between shots.” So we know she tried on multiple ensembles. The one they eventually picked for the cover was this gorgeous, textured Jil Sander dress. Pair that with sexy minimal makeup and retro-chic hair, and we got ourselves a hot cover. We don’t really get the association of this image with what her role in Snow White is about — other than the dress being white, of course — but we’ll take what we can get because she looks beautiful.

This is the second Elle cover for Kristen, FYI, which you can see with the photograph on the right. This was also released in June but back in 2010. That shoot was pretty spectacular too, even though she was still growing out her The Runaways hair. Even though the styling in that photograph is pretty modern, the hair takes us straight back to the ’70’s, thanks to her amazing portrayal of Joan Jett in the movie.

So here we have it. Two covers. Both for June but shot two years apart. One is fabulously retro and the other is the ’70’s-meets-modern. You have to tell us which one you prefer.

Rihanna Tricks Us With Elle Chris Brown “Liberation” Quote

We see what you’re doing here, Rihanna, and we don’t like it. First you go and make us write about you ALL the time, what with your ever-changing hairstyles and topless pics and nasty racist rice-cake tweets and Ashton Kutcher booty calls and wearing fancy pajamas to a Battleship premiere and, yes, you’re ill-advised collaboration/renewed friendship with the man who beat you to a bloody pulp. Then you tell Elle magazine that we, the bloggers, are “wasting” our time by “ranting” about you and Brown. And that really makes us want to rant even more! You trapped us! Not fair!

Here’s her exact quotes, from the May cover story: “[Breaking up with Chris Brown] gave me guns. I was like, well, f—. They know more about me than I want them to know. It’s embarrassing. But that was my opening. That was my liberation, my moment of bring it. […] Now you know that, so you can say what you want about it. I don’t have anything to hide.”

And on reaction to her reconciliation with Chris: “The bottom line is that everyone thinks differently. It’s very hard for me to accept, but I get it. People end up wasting their time on the blogs or whatever, ranting away, and that’s all right. Because tomorrow I’m still going to be the same person. I’m still going to do what I want to do.”

OK, keep doing that. But also, maybe think about the fact that your audience is not just bloggers, but actual young women who might find themselves in abusive relationships. /Rant off. Now look at the pretty pictures of blond Rihanna in her undies.

Heidi Klum Covers Elle, Reluctant To Discuss Split With Seal

Heidi Klum is finally talking  — well, sorta talking — about her split with husband Seal. And she’s doing it in the best way possible: by looking soft and beautiful off the cover of Elle’s April issue (an alternate cover from the Jessica Simpson one). We’ve actually been waiting to hear from her, since we’ve so far just read the (ex) couple’s joint statement and Seal’s take on the marriage breaking up. Heidi’s sort of addressed it, in a general way, but we’re glad she’s opening up a little more. Of the divorce, the supermodel reveals, “I feel like I’m in the eye of the tornado. It’s emotions inside of your body that are a tornado. And then the outside world doing all this craziness — with you wanting it or not wanting it — is another tornado. But as hard as it is, so is life.”

She also addresses the reasons why she’s trying not to talk about it, especially to the media. Heidi told the magazine, “I don’t want to talk positively or negatively about the ups and downs that we had. Every couple goes through things. Unfortunately, we’re in the public, so the highs are out there. But I don’t think it’s necessary — especially for our children — to have the lows being printed in magazines and talked about.” And just like that, we don’t want to know anymore, because we totally agree with her.

Blake Lively Tells Elle She’s Only “Had Four Boyfriends In My Whole Life”

First let’s just get how good Blake Lively looks on the March cover of Elle out of the way. Because this is one of the best covers we’ve seen in a very long time. It’s chic, beautifully understated and the hair, makeup and styling is spot on. The shoot inside is a different story altogether, because can someone say steamy? What we find interesting in the interview is how Blake reveals, “I’ve had four boyfriends in my whole life. I’ve never been with anyone that’s not a boyfriend. If I spend time with a man, it’s because there’s somebody that I know well who has been a friend for a while.” Does this include Ryan Reynolds, her current flame? And Leonardo DiCaprio, the ex of a couple of months ago? And can someone point out that Blake is only 24 so her “whole life” doesn’t really apply here? Because we have a feeling we’re going to see a fair amount of A-Listers on Blake’s arm in the future.

Jennifer Aniston Hurled Chair At Director In A Fit Of Rage

Lights, camera, aaaaaagh, watch your face! While promoting her upcoming directorial debut, Lifetime’s Project Five,  it was apparently revealed that Jennifer Aniston threw a chair at a director in a moment of fury. Somehow, that just makes us like her more. “I threw a chair at a director. It wasn’t my proudest moment. He was treating a script supervisor horribly,” Aniston explains in Elle magazine. “When the director walked in, I threw a chair at him. I missed, of course. I was like, ‘You can’t speak to people like that.’ I can’t tolerate it.” Jen declined to name the director, which means we can fantasize that it was any which one we want! So who directed Rumor Has It…?

Given that story, we take our hats off to the interviewer to be brave enough ask about Aniston’s interest in having a baby, ostensibly with boyfriend Justin Theroux. “There’s no desperation,” she says. “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. I’m at peace with whatever the plan is.” Unless that plan involves her baby being mean to the script supervisor. If so that baby needs to develop his or her fine motor reflexes, and duck!

Katy Perry’s “Enormous Boobs” Make High School Hell, Rest Of Life Awesome

Funny how the things we got teased about as teens can later turn out to be our biggest, um, assets. Like how Katy Perry used to be teased about her huge breasts! “I had enormous boobs that I didn’t know what to do with, so I wore minimizers, which were not cute,” the star tells Elle. “Those thick-ass straps! I got made fun of for the over-the-shoulder boulder holder, and all I wanted was to look like Kate Moss.” Now you can’t turn on your TV in this country without getting an eyeful of Katy’s cleavage. Take that, everyone in sophomore gym! Any chance those same haters are the ones who complained about Katy’s boob-tastic visit to Sesame Street?

“Little did I know that these things would come in handy someday,” Perry now jokes. Normally we roll our eyes 360 degrees when celebs complain about their beautiful bodies (Jessica Alba, we’re looking at you here), but we feel Katy Perry’s pain. High school can take a Gisele and make her feel like a side-show escapee. Now if only acne scars and overbites would come into vogue, then we’d all be confidently rocking what we’ve got. Katy, we look to you to lead the way!
