Tom Hanks’ Mustache And 5 Other Emmy Things That Deserve Their Own Twitters

Tom Hanks

After Angelina Jolie’s leg at the Oscars, we thought basically every funny thing (intentional or not) on a live TV event would get its own Twitter account. But maybe the people who do these things were too busy celebrating Homeland’s big sweep of the Emmys to do so tonight? At least Kat Dennings‘ boobs are well represented on the social networking site. Here are the other things we’re surprised haven’t been tweeting all night:

  • Tom Hanks’ amazing mustache (see photo above) Update: Oh! Here it is.
  • Lena Dunham’s bathroom cake (which she ate in the nude during the opening sketch)
  • Julie Bowen’s nipple covers (which she thanked profusely in her acceptance speech)
  • Ellen DeGeneres’ pants (mentioned twice during the show)
  • Jimmy Kimmel’s parents (ousted by Tracy Morgan for their false promises to Jimmy)
  • Tracy Morgan’s nunchucks (or his sparkly jacket)

Did we miss any? Have these Twitter accounts been made since we posted this story? Let us know!

“Tonight’s The Night, Cheadle”: The 15 Most Memorable (And Hilarious!) Emmys Quotes

Memorable Emmy Quotes

Apart from Aaron Paul’s sniffle-inducing shout-outs, the greatest Emmy quote of the night has to be Julia Louis-Dreyfus‘ beautiful acceptance speech for her Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy. As the Veep star put it, “First of all, I’d like to thank NBC, Parks and Rec, my beautiful boys Archie…and…Abel…” Oh wait! That was Amy Poehler’s acceptance speech, which the Parks and Rec star scrambled on stage to change out for Dreyfus’ real speech, making it the second year in a row Amy Poehler was responsible for the Emmys‘ best bit. Classic Knope! Of course, host Jimmy Kimmel and the rest of the Emmy attendees had more than few excellent quotes in their couture back pockets, such as…

Lena Dunham, Elisabeth Moss And More: Who Rocked The Short Hair The Best At The 2012 Emmys?

Best short hair at the 2012 Emmys

They say that less is more, and that’s definitely true for these lovely ladies who hit up the 2012 Emmys red carpet with short haircuts! Girls star Lena Dunham  made her first big Hollywood event appearance since “Miley-ing” her hair a few weeks back, and just like Ms. Cyrus she looks ahhhh-mazing! We’re especially diggin’ the smokey eyes makeup. Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss also showed off her newly short ‘n’ blonde ‘do, while Julianne Hough had us fooled by pinning her long tresses in a cute 1920s flapper fringe. Ginnifer Goodwin loked adorable as ever with her trademark pixie, so there’s no surprise there. And then there’s Jeremy Davies, who apparently got into a fight with some hedge clipper wielding dude. Or maybe he just got run over by a lawn mower. In any event, it’s a dramatic look, similar to the hairstyle we rocked when we were three and cut our own hair. Get a closer look in the gallery below! And then cast your vote in our poll for who had the best short ‘do.

The 8 Cutest Couples At The 2012 Emmys

Sometimes the best fashion accessory isn’t a cool bag or awesome sunglasses, but a loving partner! The red carpet for the 2012 Emmy Awards was awash with adorable PDAs from some of the biggest A-listers in television. Breaking Bad star and newly minted Emmy winner Aaron Paul could hardly keep his hands off of his lovely fiance Lauren Parsekian, and Broke Girl Kat Dennings was seen looking deep into the lovey dovey eyes of boyfriend Nick Zano. Power couple Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt looked very much the adoring duo (and now we know what that special twinkle in her eye is all about). Jon’s Mad Men costar Christina Hendricks came in on the arm of husband and 500 Days Of Summer goofball Geoffrey Arend.  Head on down to the gallery below for some awww-inspiring photos from the 62nd annual Primetime Emmys!

Emmys Best Dressed: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler And Kat Dennings Work Their Curves

Let’s be real. Comedic geniuses and BFFs IRL Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have never looked better. Flaunting their figures in Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney frocks respectively, the pair looked confident, sexy and positively radiant. Whatever you’re doing, ladies, it’s working.

Other red carpet highlights included Kat Dennings‘ flawlessly foxy red-on-red look and Heidi Klum‘s doubly sky-high slits. Mad Men‘s Jessica Pare took a page from the Megan Draper fashionable playbook and rocked a custom Jason Wu black and white ensemble.

Aaron Paul Emmy Win For Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama

Jesse Pinkman won another Emmy, yo! Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul might have already won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in Drama Series in 2010 for his meth-dealing sidekick steez, but you wouldn’t have guessed it from all the tears streaming from his beautiful eyes tonight. Seriously, were we the only ones who welled up when he did? No, right? “Oh my God, I truly didn’t even attempt to prepare a speech,” Paul gasped at tonight’s Emmys. “I can’t believe I’m standing on this stage.” If that’s true, then he’s the only one. If that doesn’t make you misty, how about these gems?

  • To his (no doubt wonderful) parents: “Thank you so much for kicking me out of the house and making me chase my dreams.”
  • To everyone in Hollywood: “We’re in a room full of people just chasing their dreams.”
  • To BB creator Vince Gilligan: “Vince Gilligan and the rest of the writers: thank you so much for not killing me off.”
  • To fiance Lauren Parsekian: “Thank you so much for looking at me the way that you do. You truly saved me.” Aaaaaand there goes the waterworks!

Emmys Worst-Dressed? Claire Danes, Zosia Mamet, Emily VanCamp And Others Troubling Us

Claire Danes, Emily VanCamp, Zosia Mament
First of all, no one on the red carpet of the Emmy Awards was particularly awful, well with the exception of Phoebe Price, who really goes for awful every time. But there was a handful of ladies — ladies whom we love and admire — who made us scratch our heads and want to send angry letters to their stylists. Mostly, there was a disturbing trend in being terrible to boobs. The gowns on Emily VanCamp, Claire Danes, Morena Baccarin and Zosia Mamet were rather unkind in the bust area, and after spending a little too much time admiring Kat Dennings‘ girls tonight, that just made us sad. Anna Chlumsky and Hayden Panettiere disappointed us by wearing gowns that would look amazing on someone 20 years their senior. Leslie Mann, meanwhile, made a terrible choice of color, and we wanted to rip the sleeves off of Julianne Moore’s gown and the ruffles off Elisabeth Moss‘.

Again, none of these were offensively bad. And maybe you disagree? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!

We’re Obsessed With Kat Dennings’ Emmys Red Carpet Dress (Not To Mention. The. Girls.)

Kat Dennings Emmy Dress

We hope you were standing near your fainting couch when you caught a glimpse of Kat Dennings‘ flawlessness on the Emmys red carpet just now. Dressed in plunging deep red with porcelain skin and loose, romantic curls, the Two Broke Girls star was basically required by law to discuss her insane decolletage with E!’s Giuliana Rancic before the event. “S‪o matter what I do they’re there, so…‬,” Kat joked. “‪Well, you know what I mean? I looked in the mirror and I was like, ‘Ugh, god.’ But what am I gonna do? They’re always the same size!‬” And spectacular.

Dennings brought her boyfriend/costar Nick Zano to the awards tonight, a man who, in addition to being very grateful to the universe, has a very special role to play: keeping Kat’s ladies from bursting out of her frock. “‪If I stand up too straight, there’s a possibility. So if I hunch, that’s why. If I have terribly posture, it’s from fear of things coming out,” Kat laughed about a nation’s hope. “He has been alerted to the possibility of emergency and he’s always primed and ready.” ‬ Dennings is also rocking OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark, if you even thought to look at her nail steez. Which you did, because you want to soak in every aspect of her epicness.

Emmy Snubs: Which Of Your Faves Didn’t Make The Cut?

Alexander Skarsgard, Cheryl Hines, Andrew Lincoln

We’re going to treat this space as a bit of an open ranting thread for any of you left huffing and puffing about the TV Academy being stuck in their ways and ignoring your favorite TV shows in the 64th Primetime Emmy nominations list. For the most part, we’re actually pretty happy with the nominees — there are a few surprises that make it seem like this show might actually be a little hipper than years past. But still, there are some GLARING omissions. Here are the snubs we’re kinda peeved about:

Vampires: Sure, True Blood and Vampire Diaries are soapy and campy (that’s why we love them). But Alexander Skarsgard displayed some serious acting chops when Eric lost his memory last season. (He displayed some other things too, that should win all the awards.)

The Walking Dead: As Andrew Lincoln’s Rick struggled to keep the group together, maintain his friendship with Shane and survive the zombie apocalypse, his performance often left us breathless.

Glee: Dot-Marie Jones was rightly nominated for guest performance, but Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Diana Agron and Naya Rivera all had some seriously dramatic moments that drove us to tears.

Emmy Nominations: Girls, Downton, Zooey And More Make This A Competition We Actually Care About

Zooey Deschanel, Michelle Dockery and Lena Dunham

When we planned this post, before Scandal’s Kerry Washington and a pajama-wearing Jimmy Kimmel announced the 64th Primetime Emmy nominations, we thought we’d make this list short and sweet. Traditionally, this is an awards show that ignores our faves and gives all the kudos to the shows our parents love. But then we got a very pleasant surprise and discovered we actually care about almost all of the nominees. Maybe the Emmy voters are finally getting younger and hipper. Or maybe really good TV is back in a place where everyone can agree on the shows that CAN’T be ignored.

Our longtime obsession Mad Men and new addiction American Horror Story lead the pack with a whopping 17 nominations apiece. Downton Abbey’s got 16 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and acting nods for Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Brendan Coyle, Jim Carter, Maggie Smith and Joanne Froggatt. Of course, HBO is a dominating force once again, but we can’t complain when that means Game of Thrones has 11 nods and Girls has five nods — for Outstanding Comedy, writing, directing, casting and, naturally, Lead Actress Lena Dunham. Speaking of girls, New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield are nominated. As expected, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, 30 Rock and Modern Family also have tons of nominations, but we love them just the same.

After last year’s moving speech, Melissa McCarthy has another shot at Lead Comedy Actress (she’s up against Dunham, Deschanel, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Edie Falco and Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfuss). We’re also excited about another of other favorite ladies: Connie Britton for American Horror Story. Also, Blossom is back! Mayim Bialik‘s role on Big Bang Theory earned her a Supporting Actress nod. Among the leading ladies in drama, Dockery is competing with Julianna Margulies, Claire Danes, Kathy Bates, Elisabeth Moss and Glenn Close.

In the male comedy category, there’s one guy we’re rooting for, for the potential hilarity of his acceptance speech alone: Louis C.K.! He’s got to beat big shots like Larry David, Jon Cryer, Jim Parsons, Alec Baldwin and Don Cheadle first, though. If the Earl of Grantham wants to take home a statuette, he’ll have to defeat the likes of Steve Buscemi, Bryan Cranston, Michael C. Hall, Jon Hamm and Damian Lewis. We confess, our loyalties are completely divided there.

Check out our gallery of favorite nominees above, and a more complete list below. And let us know which shows you’ll be rooting for when the Emmys air on Sunday, September 23.
