Zooey Deschanel took a bit of a fashion risk in this whimsical Moschino dress at the Our Idiot Brother premiere last night, and we think she totally pulled it off. The ruffled collar could be a bit much on some people, but Zooey played it right with black YSL heels and perfectly pinned up hair. She even kept her make up simple and understated, accentuating just her eyelashes, which look extra long and luxurious.
Madonna has transformed herself so many times over the past 25+ years that it’s easy to forget just how iconic these transformations have been. Lost in that blur of pointy Gaultier bras, bleach blond hair and henna tattoos is one of America’s greatest creative revolutionaries. Or, to put it simply, the biggest bad-ass of our time. In honor of her birthday today, we’ve singled out ten of her most memorable fashion phases — from the lace gloves to the high ponytail to the Evita days. The journey down Madge Lane begins with her most infamous performance ever — “Like a Virgin” at the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards.
Olivia Wilde‘s got that ‘thing’: her parents genes game together and created a superhuman with out of this world good looks and no matter what she may do to uglify herself, she can never battle her beauty and win. She is just TOO PRETTY. But girl is trying! She showed up to the Do Something Awards in this Chloe number, which really should be hanging in the Museum of Dresses No One Should Ever Wear, Even Stunning People in the Argh, Why Do We Keep Trying To Bring The 70s Back? exhibit.
And still, even in this outfit, which will surely make Worst Dressed Lists in our supermarkets’ finest tabloids, she manages to look beautiful. You can’t beat Olivia’s pretty, ugly dress! But we appreciate the effort.
Sensitive bad boy rocker John Mayer has emerged in Los Angeles, where he was spotted visiting a doctor’s office yesterday. We’ve haven’t seen much of Mayer lately, he’s been laying low both online and in person. Clearly absence makes the heart grow fonder, because we’ve almost missed the guy! John, who’s gone through clean cut phases in the past, seems to be embracing his grungier side. We like the look on him – the long, shaggy hair is a nice touch. We couldn’t help but be reminded of another handsome bad boy who rocks the locks, shades and hat. Johnny Depp, is that you?
Lady Gaga left a recording studio on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles at 2 AM this morning, looking, well, kinda casual! Now this would be like a black tie outfit for us. But for Gaga, what’s a cute printed LBD and a shy-high pair of Louboutins? This woman is used to wearing haute couture garbage bags and Alexander McQueen booties with 12-inch heels to the grocery store. We’re loving the little touches to this look: square sunnies, a simple clutch, giant arm bangle, and some serious red claws. You know — Lady Gaga’s version of a hoodie and yoga pants.
Olivia Wilde decided to go sheer, romantic and completely dotty in Gucci at the premiere of Cowboys & Aliens in London yesterday. It somewhat reminded us of Miley’s Cyrus‘ similar silhouette at the EMA’s last year! Miley’s dress was a tad more demure though. What’s so not demure about Olivia’s, you ask? While we’re fans of the polka-dot, we’re just wondering whether there’s too much sheerness happening on the side, if you catch our drift. The solid panel of fabric seems super narrow, revealing a whole lot of side boob as you can see in the picture above. She looks gorgeous as always, but is she headed toward wardrobe malfunction territory?
Please give a listen to a little Montell Jordan while viewing this amazing shot of Kate Moss on the cover of Vogue‘s September issue. Because this, my friends, is HOW YOU DO IT. Mario Testino shot the iconic British super-super-model, who perches delicately yet confidently in Alexander McQueen. Inside is a massive spread filled with pics from her bo-ho-y wedding to Jamie Hince, which included tee-pees, fifteen bridesmaids and one smiling Paul McCartney. Yep, exactly like our wedding.
We think these three hit out of the ball park yesterday. And because we can’t decide who looked the best, we’re going to ask you to help chip in. On the left we have a very sexy Olivia Wilde in Munich, Germany at the Cowboys & Aliens premiere. She wore a Tom Ford dress, Brian Atwood shoes and Carrera y Carrera jewelry. In the middle we have a radiant Anne Hathaway at the One Day premiere in New York. She’s wearing an Alexander McQueen dress, Tiffany & Co. jewelry and bag and shoes both by Christian Louboutin.
And at last, we have Katie Holmes, looking better than we’ve seen her in a while, on the right at the Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark premiere in New York, again. She’s wearing her own collection — that’s a Holmes & Yang dress (with Alexandre Birman shoes). Click on the gallery below to see the photos in full and vote for your favorite look!
Our ten picks for Best Dressed at the Teen Choice Awards all have something in common: they each dressed in a way that best highlights their personal style. Kourtney Kardashian‘s flowy blue mini was pure California glam, Zooey Deschhanel‘s signature retro look was topped with enviable locks, Rachel Bilson kept it simple in white with killer (literally) heels, and Selena Gomez was youthful and elegant in an Erin Fetherston mini. Ashley Greene‘s Givenchy was sleek and elegant — just like her hair, Nina Dobrev was perfectly girlie in gingham and a high pony-tail, Zoe Saldana sparkled and twirled in her summer-y strapless dress, and Blake Lively‘s printed heels helped her sunny orange dress pop even more.
Two dudes also made it onto our list: the ever-dapper Darren Criss, who rocked a sweet little skinny tie and fitted suit jacket, and Taylor “Wait a second did he suddenly get really hot?!” Lautner perfected his action star look in leather. Yes, Taylor is officially doing the Tom Cruise look BETTER than Tom Cruise.

You know what our favorite part of Justin Bieber‘s outfit is? It’s not the “F**k You” t-shirt, because that seems like a pretty obvious ‘only a seventeen year old would wear this’ clothing choice. Nay, it is the prayer beads (used by Tibetan monks for, you know, praying) hanging around his neck accentuating the ridiculousness of his shirt. The singer and his bodyguard, also in a ridiculous tee, did some shopping at the Armani Exchange at the Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood yesterday. Perhaps they’re in the market for some more message-y tees?
