Congrats to Shakira and her soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique — because we assume they wouldn’t trick us twice on this. “We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain,” reads a note on Shakira’s website, adding that mother and baby are in excellent health. While we immediately thought back to all the other celebrity babies named after famous places (hello, Brooklyn and Tennessee), the new parents have a different explanation for Milan: “The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.”
Thankfully, they follow that bit up with a more lighthearted statement about the new arrival: “Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.” We just wonder what the players for AC Milan think of this? (Oof, our sports jokes never work!)

There’s been sporadic news about Shakira through her pregnancy. We’ve seen adorable pictures of her baby bump, but not as many as we’d like. More, please? We’ve also been punked with a fake birth announcement by her hot footballer, babydaddy, boyfriend, Gerard Pique. Now, the beauteous couple has combined their gorgeous, soon-to-be-parental coupledom for a pre-natal portrait that is drop-dead amazo, and a call for a good cause. Shakira sent a tweet out yesterday that read, “We’d like to celebrate the imminent birth of our first child with all of you.” The picture you see of them above was attached to the tweet and the link led to a beautifully illustrated UNICEF page that said, “Join Shakira & Gerard Pique’s world baby shower to help UNICEF save children’s lives.” Donate, and you’ll receive a personalized thank you from the couple. It’s a lovely gesture, we think. The singer’s added message also reads, “To celebrate the arrival of our first child, we hope that, in his name, other less privileged children in the world can have their basic needs covered through gifts and donations. Thank you for sharing this unforgettable moment with us. Every expectant parent around the world shares all the same hopes and dreams for their children that we do,” adds Shakira. “Yet many don’t share the same opportunities. Together we know we can change that.” Anyone else want to hug Shaki, right about now? We do!

“Our son has been born! We are very happy! Thanks to all for your messages!” Barcelona soccer star Gerard Pique tweeted last night, announcing the slightly premature birth of his and girlfriend Shakira’s first child.
And the congrats started pouring in for the beautiful couple … until, er, he posted another message a few hours later:
Shakira really knows how to pull out all the stops. She attended the FIFA Ballon D’Or Gala yesterday along with boyfriend, footballer Gerard Pique. You couldn’t miss her, with that sequined strapless, fishtail red gown. It’s a tad OTT, but Shaki pulls it off. Possibly because her makeup was so discreet, and her new bob was coiffed so well. We’re totally digging the soft waves. You can’t beat the slihouette on her, either. Besides, the man attached to her arm, ain’t too shabby at all. All together, her entire ensemble and styling is so vintage. Do you like Shakira’s retro-vixen look?

About a month and a half after Shakira announced her break-up with longterm fiance Antonio de la Rua, the singer seems to have bounced right back into the dating game. And props to the She Wolf for moving on with a bonafied hottie. A fan posted this picture on Facebook of Shakira holding hands with Spanish footballer Gerard Pique.
Rumors of Shakira and Pique started during the World Cup last year (where the singer had recorded the official song Waka Waka) but all stories were denied, of course. The FC Barcelona defender was one of the stars featured in the video, and was cited as one of the reasons for Shakira breaking up with de la Rua. They’ve been denying stories of hook-ups for the last couple of months, chronicled by the Spanish newspaper El Periodico de Catalunya.
Good luck denying the rumors now, guys. A picture speaks a thousand words, so don’t even try denying it now! It’s not like it’s a crime or anything? Just two ridiculously hot people getting together.
