Selena Gomez has been having a rough past few days with her breakup with long time boyfriendJustin Bieber. But she sure didn’t show it as she strolled the red carpet for Glamour Magazine’s 2012 Woman Of The Year awards last night in New York City! The 20-year-old stunned in an off-white peplum dress designed by Giambattista Valli. Selena was honored at the event with an Independant Spirit award for her film, television, music and fashion work, as well as her charitable post as UNICEF’S youngest ever ambassador.
“I just want to share to all the girls out there that you have a voice, that you have a chance to do what you love, whether that is acting or singing, and just being true to who you are” she said in an emotional acceptance speech after being presented the award by actor Ethan Hawke. ” The person that’s taught me that better than anyone is my mom. She is so strong and beautiful and has taught me everything, so thank you.” Selena was by no means the only famous face in attendance! She was joined by the likes of Eva Longoria, Lena Dunham, Gabby Douglas and so many more. See who was there and what they wore in the gallery below!
Yesterday, we showed you Taylor Swift’s newest iteration of her “surprised” look, this one more seductive than modest, on the cover of this month’s Glamour. Today, we’re checking out an entirely different expression of hers on the cover of Marie Claire U.K.: She’s more of a sassy know-it-all, looking at you from the side, with her hands on her hips. These poses are two sides of the same coin, though.
Consider the quotes she gave to MC about falling in love (via the Daily Mail): She believes in love, she says, “Even after it explodes into a million pieces and burns down and you’re standing in a pile of the ash of what it once was thinking, ‘Why did I have to meet this person, why did this have to happen?’ But then, when you make eye contact with someone across the room and it clicks and, bam, you’re there. In love again.” That’s the side of her that appears on the Glamour cover, we think. And then there’s her quote on whether she warns boyfriends about her penchant for writing songs about them: “Ha! Well … it’s not like it’s in fine print, but music is absolutely everything that I am and everything that I stand for. It’s not my fault if someone gets into a relationship with me and then cheats and I write a song about it.” Totally the sassy girl on Marie Claire, right?
It’s no surprise to us that Taylor Swift covers the November “Hair Issue” of Glamour. We’d probably kill for her luscious blond waves, if such a deal could be made. Still, the singer looks surprised in the photo — though this time it’s not, her “Gosh! You picked me?” surprise face, it’s more, “Oh, you caught me! It’s a good thing I had my hair all done and this pretty gold dress on.” In all seriousness, she looks as awesome as ever — with her fave red lipstick matching her nails, belt and a random swath of tulle — and we want lessons in how to apply blush so perfectly. We also want lessons in playing coy the way she did with the interviewer.
When the Glamour writer brought up “Dear John” and her ex-boyfriend John Mayer’s comment to Rolling Stone that it was about him, she responded, “How presumptuous! I never disclose who my songs are about.” And apparently, she managed to shield herself from anything Mayer said to RS about feeling “humiliated” by the song. “No! I don’t want to know, I don’t want to know,” she said as his quote was about to be read to her. I know it wasn’t good, so I don’t want to know. I put a high priority on staying happy, and I know what I can’t handle. … It’s not that I’m this egomaniac and I don’t want to hear anything negative, because I do keep myself in check. But I’ve never developed that thick a skin.” Read more…
Amanda Seyfried is already the second celebrity to bring up pubes today (thanks for being #1, Daniel Radcliffe!), but, as she tells Glamour, just because she’s starring in porn biopic Lovelace doesn’t mean she’ll be putting hers up on the big screen anytime soon. “What surprised me is the amount of pubic hair!” Seyfried laughs about watching Deep Throat, the infamous adult film that starred her titular character Linda Lovelace, adding “I’m pretty sure I would never do a full frontal in a movie — for personal reasons, I wouldn’t really want to show that.” Looks like it falls to you, Daniel…oh, you already have your pants off. Wow, you are so far head of the game!
When it comes to taking off her pants in her personal life however (segue!), Amanda seems strictly platonic with In Time co-star Justin Timberlake. “He seems so perfect, but you get to know him, and he’s a good pal,” Seyfried says. “He’ll tell you what he really feels. But, you know, he’s really famous, which has its downsides.” We’re guessing their friendship might be strictly platonic in part due to Amanda’s very close relationship with recent ex Dominic Cooper. “He was my last real boyfriend,” Seyfried reveals. “We still joke about having kids, like, ‘If it doesn’t work out with other people, we might as well just have a child.’ And there’s a part of that that feels … possible.” Ha! Try and beat that reveal, Daniel Radcliffe? Wait, what? No, that’s not even scientifically possible! You, sir, are truly something.
After jump-starting our morning with Kristen Stewart‘s British GQ cover, we’ve now learned that Skinny Legs McGee will also be on the cover of Glamour next month. What are these mag publishers trying to do to us?! As if the still photos weren’t bananas enough, Glamour released behind-the-scenes footage wherein Kristen works it out in very little lace.
And now for the cherry on top: when asked whose mind she’d most like to read, she says that of her cat, Jella. Besides those impossibly slender stems, Kristen’s just like us! [Cover: Glamour]
Glamour‘s Reel Moments event is a night celebrating stories written by women and brought to life on film by female directors. This year, the directors included Jessica Biel, Eva Mendes and Rachel Weisz, and their films can be viewed on the Reel Moments website.
In addition to their talent, they also have the ability to look flawless on the red carpet – just check out Mendes and Biel as proof. Demi Moore, who directed a film for the event last year, was also there looking effortlessly cool and casual. There will be no black bars over any of these ladies’ eyes, that’s for sure. Does Glamour still do the Fashion Do and Don’ts? Is that reference still topical? Doesn’t matter, point is, these ladies are all smoking hot.
