Sure, we watch the MTV Video Music Awards to see our favorite artists pick up a trophy or two for their work in the past year and to watch some phenomenal performances. But there’s a big reason it’s way more fun to watch than, say, the Grammys: Having this many stars in such a party-hard atmosphere always leads to some of the best unscripted moments on TV. A whole lot of those moments are simply fun, but often they turn into car-wreck spectacles. Of course, the latter is what we end up remembering in the decades that follow. From Andrew Dice Clay’s off-color jokes that got him banned from MTV for life to Michael Jackson’s misunderstood birthday cake to Kanye West’s infamous “Imma let you finish” speech, we love those moments that make us cringe in our seats, anticipating the embarrassment the perpetrators probably won’t feel until the morning after. While we eagerly await a whole new batch, here are our top 10 most cringeworthy moments of VMA history:

Russell Brand and Geri Halliwell Rumored To Be Dating, Join Our List Of 20 WTF Celebrity Couples

Russell Brand sure does like the pop stars! Less than a year after his split with teenage dream Katy Perry, the comedian was photographed leaving the home of Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. It’s been rumored that the two have started a romance after getting reacquainted at the Olympic closing ceremony earlier this month. “Geri has said they have a spiritual connection through yoga and they practise asana together,” a friend told Britain’s Sun paper. “‘Russell is known for action between the sheets but he is actually very good at just sitting still in silence. It is something that has acted as a bond for he and Geri as their relationship blossoms.”

Considering how bummed out he looked upon leaving her house last night, we hope things are still going ok! “They’re just friends and have been out a few times, there’s not much else to add at this stage,” another friend told the Daily Mail. Regardless of the length of their relationship, this hookup will definitely be a great addition to our “WTF, They Dated?!” list of really random celebrity couples. Kate Upton, Rihanna And Maria Menounos Top Our 20 Hottest Bikini Bods Of Summer 2012

With the summer coming to a close we’ve decided to celebrate the only way we know how … by remembering this season’s sexiest celebrity bikini bods. Between all of the Twitter and Instagram uploads and paparazzi shots, there was a never-ending stream of photos of scantily clad stars, so it was hard to narrow it down to just 20 top shots, but we did it! It should also be noted that there were plenty of runner-ups including Aubrey O’Day, Brooklyn Decker, Vanessa Hudgens and Irina Shayk. (And of course, our Bikini Awards runner up, Claudia Romani, whom we didn’t include because she got a place of honor in our Breakout Stars of the Summer feature.) For some, the road to the top ain’t easy. Cameron Diaz had to survive doing The Mask alongside Jim Carrey before reaching superstardom. OK, putting that stuff in her hair for There’s Something About Mary probably wasn’t a walk in the park either, but from there Diaz has skyrocketed into the A-list stratosphere! She’s done turns in comedy classics like My Best Friend’s Wedding , and has not one but two mega-franchises under her belt: Charlie’s Angles and Shrek. Just this year she cracked us up in What To Expect What You’re Expecting, and we expected absolutely nothing less. The only thing as impressive as her acting career is how amazing she looks. Teen Bride Courtney Stodden Turns 18! Celebrate With Her 18 Most Outrageous Looks

*Sigh* They grow up so fast. When we first met Courtney Stodden in May of 2011 she was just a 16-year old girl about to settle down with the (50-year old) man of her dreams, Doug Hutchison. And now she’s an 18 year old woman! Where on Earth does the time go? We watched her grow up before our eyes. Oh, wait…she was kind of already there.

She’s still insanely young, but just look at what she’s done so far! She’s invented the floor flashing craze, become a twitter poet laureate, been banned from facebook, and ceaselessly campaigned for animal rights. She posed a serious challenge to Kate Upton’s Queen of the Cat Daddy throne and is now busting into the wide and wild world of reality TV on VH1′s own Couples Therapy. And she’s done it all while wearing some of the most fabulously crazy outfits of all time. Rihanna Joins Our List Of The 20 Most Laughably Unbelievable Death Hoaxes

False death reports have been happening for as long as there have been famous figures. That’s where Easter comes from, when you think about it. In years past these mistakes would occur innocently enough through honest misinformation, but now in this age of instant communication any old D-bag with a Twitter and too much free time can wreak havoc on a celeb’s life! Death hoaxes are just a part of the modern fame package these days. Just ask Paul McCartney, who’s had people questioning his status as a living person for well over 40 years! Today Rihanna joined the “I’m Not Dead” club as reports went around that the singer “sunk into an [alcohol-induced] coma before succumbing to a heart attack.” Oooof, not cool, you guys. Thankfully she’s alive and well, and probably not wearing pants at this very moment. What better way to celebrate being alive! Don’t worry, Riri, it happens to the best of ‘em. Summer’s nearly over, and what do we have to show for it? Some tan lines? A big dent in our reading list? A new fitness routine? Hardly. We do, however, have a whole new roster of celebrities we’ve been obsessing over for the past three months. We’ll count that as an accomplishment! Some, like Olympians McKayla Maroney and Ryan Lochte, were brand-new to our radar when they came on the scene in London. Others, like Miley Cyrus and Channing Tatum, have been around for a while, but this summer just seemed to be when they reinvented themselves into bigger stars that would not be ignored. Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn and TLC’s favorite beauty queen Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson made our TV screens come to life, while Tom Hardy and Joe Manganiello made us have some pretty good dreams. Model Claudia Romani made her mark on this very site via the VH1 Celebrity Bikini Awards, and singer Carly Rae Jepson etched her song into our ear canals forever. Though Robert Pattinson has made his share of independent movies in his career, this week’s Cosmopolis is widely thought of has his big move to make a post-Twilight career for himself. And he certainly wouldn’t be the first hot young actor to make a case for himself as a serious actor by taking a giant step into the world of dark and twisty films. Many a heartthrob has gone from the pages of Tiger Beat to the local arthouse theater quite soon after they made it big, from Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix’s turns as gay hustlers in My Own Private Idaho to Daniel Radcliffe’s recent venture into spooky suspense with The Woman in Black. Sometimes it’s because they really love the art of filmmaking, like Rob seems to, and other times, it seems like a calculated move to make themselves Oscar contenders instead of Teen Choice surfboard winners.
