Vogue France has gone completely retro with the December-January cover. That’s Kate Moss totally channeling Ziggy Stardust, and she’s spot on, especially when you compare her with David Bowie as Ziggy. This isn’t the first time Kate’s — who is a hug fan of the singer’s — done a cover as Bowie. She was on the cover styled as Bowie’s Aladdin Sane in the May 2003 Vogue UK issue.
What do you think of French Vogue‘s cover? Do you think they’ve taken a step backwards with their homage, or is their vintage style actually fashion forward?

GQ UK chose Daniel Craig for its January 2012 cover, and we can’t say we have any problem with that. And while it’s always interesting to read about his roles, whether James Bond or in the upcoming The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the real sound bites in this interview have been his opinions about the Kardashians! He leads into it by talking about privacy, or the lack of it, saying, “It’s not about being afraid to be public with your emotions or about who you are and what you stand for. But if you sell it off, it’s gone. You can’t buy it back — you can’t buy your privacy back. Ooh, I want to be alone. F— you. We’ve been in your living room. We were at your birth. You filmed it for us and showed us the placenta, and now you want some privacy?”
And then he masterfully segues into the biggest examples he could think of to illustrate his point. Daniel held no punches as he added, “Look at the Kardashians, they’re worth millions. I don’t think they were that badly off to begin with but now look at them. You see that and you think, ‘What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f—ing idiot on television and then you’ll pay me millions?’ I’m not judging it — well, I am obviously.” Who thinks we’re going to hear from one of the Kardashians very soon, expressing surprise at Daniel’s comments? Because they were all shocked when Michelle Obama revealed that Barack Obama didn’t want his daughters to watch their shows. Check out the gallery below to see more famous faces who aren’t keeping up with the Kardashians!

Tyra Banks is on the cover of the very artsy, Berlin-based I Love You magazine, and it’s an eye-catcher, to say the least. This is Miss Tyra’s first magazine cover in three years — the last one being Harper’s Bazaar in 2008. With the cover line “Miss Powerhouse,” the mag shows Tyra in canary-yellow, theatrical eye makeup, and the more we look at it, the more it grows on us. This is the seventh issue of the magazine and is called “The Wrong Issue.” But the question is, is this look “the wrong fit” for Tyra? Let us know if you think she’s working it.

How different does Scarlett Johansson look on these covers. The one on the left is the December issue of Vanity Fair, and the one on the right is Interview Magazine‘s December offering. We love the red hair, pink lips and soft lighting on the VF one, but it’s the sexiness of the Interview photograph that has us sold. She’s wearing Dolce & Gabbana in the shot and it’s so much more angular and harsher — right down to the darker, thicker brows — than the other cover photograph. We don’t blame either magazine for wanting to end their year with ScarJo! Which one do you prefer?

Thank you, Details, for putting Jeremy Renner on your December cover. It’s like an early Christmas present! We weren’t too happy that we haven’t seen the actor covering many magazines lately. The interview was conducted as he was shooting The Bourne Legacy, and if that doesn’t scream “tough guy,” then the fact that he’s studied Filipino stick fighting and Muay Thai martial arts should. But then again, he’s played a multitude of macho characters including Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and the upcoming The Avengers, following his Oscar-nominated breakout role in The Hurt Locker. So where exactly does professional makeup artist fit in? Yep, he’s been one in the past. And that makes us love him even more. Imagine: He looks awesome in a suit, but would also be able to do up your face before a big premiere.

Do not hate us for putting up this photograph of Nicole Scherzinger‘s December Shape magazine cover. We’re all a month away from making our New Year resolutions and need to get inspired by forces of natures — like Nicole’s abs. God has really been kind to this woman. And sad as her breakup from Lewis Hamilton was, coming up with a cover like that right after the split is a case of excellent timing.
If any of you have been following Nicole as a judge on The X Factor like we have, then you know she isn’t afraid of standing up to one Mr Cowell. But her remarks about the judges in the magazine are all sweetness and light, and we wish the ex-Pussycat would get her claws out. Of her three co-judges she says, “I think we’re a good mix. Simon is empowering and encouraging. L.A. is very giving and inspiring. And Paula is as sweet in person as she seems on TV. As for me, well, sometimes I’m nice, and sometimes I’m not. I definitely watch the contestants with a very careful eye.” Nicole, gurl, it looks like you’re too hot … because your pants are on fire.
Well, well, well. Look who we have giving smolder-face off the cover of Entertainment Weekly. It’s Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart which is a no-brainer considering all the hype around The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. And they’re giving dish on the movie, especially on that love scene that has us all in a tizzy. Robert revealed, “There’s a version where it was really intense.” Kristen adds, “Cinematically, cut all together, it’s awesome. But we didn’t really do that scene.” Rob then pitches in with, “And when we did, they kept telling us to stop.” PG-13 can be such a killjoy.
Kristen also talks about wishing she hadn’t had to tone down the birth scene. She says, “That’s what I’m really disappointed about — and I’ve talked about it with Bill. It was more sympathetic or something when I played the scene with less energy, and it made it easier for him to tell the story.” It’s a different story altogether in the book, where, as Kristen put it, “Bella is screaming, ‘NOOOOO!’ And I did it like that — crazy and Exorcist-like. I was going for this weird mix of turning into the most feral mother you can imagine and also fighting for my own life. I mean, I was a nutcase. I was an absolute nutcase.” There’s a lot more there, EW promises, but we’ll have to wait for the issue out tomorrow.

Nikki Reed‘s beaming on the December cover of Seventeen magazine, but on the topic of her Twilight castmates she isn’t exactly full of sunshine. We’re so used to seeing them chummy on red carpets, that we’d all like to believe that they’re BFFs in real life. That’s not always the case, as Nikki clarifies in the interview, “In the beginning, it was innocent and fun, and we were like one big happy family –– it was like being at sleepaway camp. And then success comes along and changes the dynamic.” That’s when we cutaway to a shot of the actress looking moodily into the future with a dramatic swell of music in the background. Easy now, we kid.
But after Breaking Dawn, the actress realistically said that not all on-set relationships will spill over to real life. “We’re not all best friends, and we’re not all going to hang out together after the final movie is done.” Does that include Kristen Stewart? Those two used to be besties, but we haven’t heard a peep about them in a while. “She makes really good dessert,” is what Nikki answered when asked what she’d miss about KStew the most. That’s it? There’s got to be more to miss!
Weeks after her marriage to Kris Humphries, and weeks before her divorce from him, Kim Kardashian was interviewed for the cover story of the December issue of Marie Claire. If she were anyone else in the world, we think she’d be regretting that move. But she’s Kim Kardashian, so we imagine she’ll take it all in stride, still laughing all the way to the bank. Anyway, here are quotes that we’d be embarrassed about:
» On why she and Kris got married so quickly: “We felt like, ‘Why wait?’ It’s fun to have a partner who understands your life and lets you be you.”
» On the state of their marriage: “I feel like where we’re at right now is the best time in my life.”
The second we saw Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart in the Snow White and the Huntsman trailer, we’ve been obsessing. We think the fact that they play mortal enemies onscreen, does not mean that they shouldn’t be BFF in real life. And by that we mean that in our heads, these two are besties. Charlize’s December Vogue cover interview is responsible for that. We’re not even going to get into how amazo she looks because it’s not like all of you aren’t aware that she’s a 5-foot, 10-inch knockout.
A fair amount of the interview deals with her new film, Young Adult, but then segues into her relationship with Kristen and what it was like working with her. “She just turned 21. She’s a child,” says Charlize. “When I think about myself at 21, I had just done The Devil’s Advocate, and Keanu [Reeves] had paparazzi following him and Al Pacino said this thing to me: ‘If I knew that my life would be under this kind of scrutiny, I would have never become an actor.’ And Kristen is just living this to the max and still has a sense of humor about it.”
The next part is what convinced us that these two are homies. Charlize summed Kristen up with, “There’s this really lovely quality about her that just doesn’t give a f—. A lot of people say they don’t, but then they go home and cry and pop a Xanax. Kristen actually doesn’t give a f—. That’s what’s so refreshing about her. I’m looking forward to killing her and taking her beauty. That’s what happens, right?” Yeah, we know. Soul mates.
