Ronaiah Tuiasosopo Visits Dr. Phil To Discuss Manti Te’o Hoax? Has He Not Seen Dr. Phil’s Dina Lohan Interview?

Ronaiah Tuiasosopo To Discuss Manti Te'o Hoax With Dr. Phil

Uh, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo? We don’t really know you or what you’re about or understand your role in the Manti Te’o fake girlfriend saga. Heck, we barely understand any part of the Manti Te’o fake girlfriend saga. We do, however, know Dr. Phil and as such we are cringing at your decision to sit down with the good doctor to discuss your side of the story. We know you want to respond to Manti’s Katie Couric interview, but dude, did you not see Dr. Phil’s interview with Dina Lohan last fall? Where Lindsay Lohan‘s mom came across as defensive, evasive and potentially inebriated? Based on that interview alone, we can say with some confidence that Dr. Phil is not the person you want to sit down with if you don’t want to run the risk of seeming like a total nutburger. He will hang you out to dry if you get weird.

5 People Who Are Really Happy This Manti Te’o Story Exploded

The Manti Te'o story has distracted from other scandals, like Lance Armstrong's

It’s impossible not to be fascinated by the story of Notre Dame football star Manti Te’o and his made-up girlfriend. Whether he was a victim or a co-conspirator in this whole deal, he’s got to be feeling pretty crappy today. Along with all the reporters who never bothered to check whether the girlfriend who tragically died the day before Manti’s big game last year ever existed before reporting on her death. But we can think of a handful of people who must be positively overjoyed about this story:

5. Nev Schulman, the star of MTV’s Catfish. Since Te’o and his school are claiming this was all an elaborate hoax, he is basically the highest profile victim of a “Catfish” scheme, and now we all know what that means. This is the best publicity for Schulman’s show, which follows people as they find out the shocking truth behind the person they met and fell in love with online.

4. Michael Lohan. We still think he’s a terrible person, but we’ve already basically forgotten yesterday’s story in Star, which quoted Lohan as saying Lindsay was getting paid to date very rich men. He later told TMZ that he was misquoted — Lindsay makes cash for her public appearances, not for escorting dudes — but we had already moved on to this Manti thing. Either way, he benefits.

3. Lindsay Lohan. For a minute she doesn’t seem like the worst decision maker on the planet.

Shocker Story: Manti Te’o’s Deceased Girlfriend Never Existed?

Manti Teo's Deceased Girlfriend, All A Hoax

Bear with us, because we’re still wrapping our heads around this story. We don’t even know how to go about this because it’s so twisted. Sports fans are obviously acquainted with the Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o and the sad saga of his recently deceased girlfriend, Lennay Kekua. Lennay had leukemia, diagnosed after being in a car accident, and Te’o was the model boyfriend and held her hand literally and figuratively in every way, until the day she passed away. It’s a story that moved a nation. Now, news has broken that — and we’re quite shocked typing this — Lennay never actually existed. We hear your WTF and raise you one. Deadspin claims that the whole story, this inspirational and heartwarming tale of love and loyalty … is a hoax. Because, according to the site, Social Security Administration records reveal that this no Lennay, so “her” whole identity, including her Twitter and Instagram account and photographs, etc, were all made up and spun into the story we all believed.

Considering she was supposed to be from Stanford, the university doesn’t have any records of her existence, either. There are no records of her death and hardly any online evidence of her at all. What’s even more weird? Those photographs that were supposedly Lennay? They’re of a completely random 22-year-old California woman who is most definitely not Manti Te’o’s girlfriend, alive or deceased. She’s never even met him. So yeah, we know how Notre Dame likes to create heroic myths about their players, but what the hell is this? It seems that, allegedly, Lennay was made up by a man (we’re going to find out more of who “he” is when more information breaks) to create more publicity for Manti Te’o’s Heisman campaign. Read more…
