We interrupt this programming to show you something that may be considered a little unusual around these parts, but nonetheless hilarious. We’re huge Modern Family fans and we know there are plenty of you out there, fanatical just like us. Best show, ever right? And we adore Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and their little adopted baby girl, Lily — played by the super cute Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. She’s only 5 years old and already she’s an absolute rock star! We watched this video that went totally viral yesterday, of the tyke singing Adele, of all singers! We know, we know, “Someone Like You” is like the most amazingly popular song ever, yada yada yada, and everyone wants to sing it, and everyone has sung it in a drunken karaoke haze. But this is different!
It’s Aubrey, or Lily (if you like to stay in character), happily belted into a car seat, taking on the song like a complete diva. And you know what … she ain’t half bad at all. Adele would be proud! Forget that, Cameron would be proud, if a little miffed that his status as the performer of the house has been revoked. We’re guessing one of her parents uploaded it? The message under the video reads, “Aubrey is crazy into Adele right now which I love. It’s so cute hearing her belt her songs in the car. This is where she likes to sing the most. At first she didn’t know if she wanted to learn this song because she thought it was too slow, but now it’s one of her favorites.” Watch the video, you guys! Good job on the lyrics as well, Aubrey!
Sofia Vergara is blowing these days, appearing as the face of CoverGirl and Diet Pepsi. She has also continued to delight the world playing the hilarious and sexy Gloria Pritchett on ABC’s hit show Modern Family. A two-time Emmy winner, Modern Family has truly become the TV’s ruling comedy with Sofia reigning as its Queen. Adding humor and a kick of muy caliente Spanish flavor into every project she works on, this Colombian beauty has taken hold of Hollywood and keeps us begging for more — just hopefully no more smoking instances like her one on the cover of Vanity Fair Spain. You worried us Sofia, but you’re still a winner in our minds! We just wish we had gotten on the Vergara train earlier when she was making headlines in Central and South America for her acting and modeling career. But hey, we can at least try to make up for lost time, right?
In celebration of Sofia’s 40th birthday today, we have compiled 40 of her very hottest looks. Trust us: you will not be disappointed. This girl has a remarkable ability to make anything look pretty damn sexy with her killer curves and mile wide smile. Enjoy but look with caution: you may develop a girl crush.
Most of us know Sarah Hyland as Modern Family‘s perpetually annoyed, ever-so-slightly dim Hayley Dunphy. In real life, however, Sarah is much more than an eye-rolling brat with a heart of gold; she’s the optimistic survivor of an (until recently) secret kidney transplant. “You know that family is always going to be there for you – no matter what. My dad gave me a freakin’ kidney!” Hyland tells the new issue of Seventeen. The actress received the transplant on April 13 after a grappling with a lifelong case of kidney dysplasia. Added Sarah, “But it’s also the families that you create outside of your family. And you really find out what kind of people you’re friends with.” We totally agree with you, girl, but also … score in the dad department! If it had been Phil Dunphy, he’d probably have accidentally dropped his kidneys down the trash compactor. Or traded them in for a llama.
Hyland scored yet another win (besides the awesome dad and organ compatibility), this time in the boyfriend department. “He helps me with my medication and takes me to doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself,” Sarah says of actor Matt Prokop, who guest starred as a potential love interest for Hayley on last week’s episode. “Any other 21-year-old guy would not be there, I guarantee it. I am one of the luckiest people in the world to have him be there for me.” Awww! It’s like the end of every episode of Modern Family up in here, just with more invasive surgery.
We’re talking about Sarah Hyland’s second 21st birthday, let’s be clear. The Modern Family actress’ birthday is on November 24 and, as she told Us Weekly, “[This year, I was] like, ‘let’s not celebrate my birthday on Thanksgiving, ’cause Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Let’s eat Thanksgiving food and sleep in [on that day].’ Now, I’m actually celebrating my birthday the right way.”
The “right way” was at Bank Nightclub at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday night where Julie Bowen — Sarah’s castmate and TV mom — ensured that the celebrations went down the “right way” as well. She sent the freshly turned 21-year-old a bottle of Peligroso Tequila. Sarah suggested that the bottle is intact adding, “Even if I’m not planning on drinking for the night and my friends are going out, I don’t have to worry and be like, ‘Well, I can’t go there.’ ” Right, what are the bets that the bottle’s already finished? Happy second 21st birthday, Sarah!
Sofia Vergara just gave an adorable interview to Advocate magazine and we just can’t get enough of her special brand of OTT. She describes her bombshell self to the reporter in a most unusual manner. “I look like a transsexual anyway,” she explains. “I’m a woman, but I’m super-exaggerated with my boobs, my ass, my makeup, and my accent. When I get ready for an event, I always look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘I look like a transvestite!’ I love it.” Whether she’s playing Gloria on Modern Family or just being her kooky self in interviews, we can’t get enough of this woman!
She’s also revealed her celebrity girl crush and, well, we couldn’t agree more. “I have many, but I love Halle Berry. She’s perfection” she said, adding, “Every time I see her, I want to give her a standing ovation because she’s so flawless.” Ms Berry has some competition though, from someone a little closer to Sofia’s immediate circle. Close friend and co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson better watch out because Sofia explained, “He also has a very handsome boyfriend [Justin Mikita], and I always tell Jesse that I want him.” Arriba!
Sofia Vergara is totally working it in Vanity Fair‘s October issue. The profile on her is short and succinct, but what speaks louder than any words is her photo shoot, which this lush black-and-white is part of. The other shots include the Modern Family actress stretched out on a couch and wrapped in mink (and nothing else), or smiling in leopard print lingerie. It would be a bit too much if it wasn’t photographed so darn classily. Because it is! Her make-up, hair and that SMILE are just right so even when we see her just about fitting into a blush-colored corset, you sigh and think ‘gorgeous’ as opposed to ‘trampy’! Look at the shots here and let us know if you agree with us?
If the clothes will make us look anything like her, then sign us up! Sofia Vergara has joined forces with Kmart to design a clothing, footwear and a jewelry line for them. The Colombian Modern Family bombshell revealed, “We’re trying to fill a hole in the store. They wanted to appeal to a younger woman with something a little spicy. The times are changing.” Ok, we’ll buy it. Kmart and Vergara don’t exactly go hand in hand in our heads, but hey, you heard the lady…times are changing.
The good news is that she’s keeping curves in mind. Considering her own body type, the collection will follow suit, as she explained, “You have to realize that it’s me wearing it it. You’ve just seen it on me. All the piece are very wearable. And we have them in all sizes.” Hallelujah! One only has to take a look at Vergara’s top 20 hottest outfits (photos)to realize girlfriend knows what she’s talking about.
The collection will hits stores in the fall. We hope we get a preview beforehand, because we kinda love Vergara and hope she doesn’t sell out. We’re expecting hot, but affordable, clothes and killer shoes. Don’t let us down!
Modern Family is such a cute, funny show; it was only a matter of time before it insulted an entire nationality. The word is Peruvians are angry with Modern Family’s Sofia Vergarafor a joke that had Peru as the punchline…and they want an explanation. The joke came in response to the character Jay (Ed O’Neill) gearing up to riff on Columbia, his wife’s homeland. Vergara’s character Sofia rants, “Ah, here we go. Because, in Colombia, we trip over goats and we kill people in the street. Do you know how offensive that is? Like we’re Peruvians!” Hoo boy, that is…not family friendly.
In response to the slur, Beatriz Merino, head of the People’s Defender’s Office in Peru, wants a response from the U.S. Ambassador, saying “No country should have to be offended.” Agrees Milagros Lizarraga, founder of Peruvian social network Peru USA Southern Ca, “It’s incredible that in a country where everything is politically correct, ABC would have a line of this sort.” Everything is PC? Watch Glee and that idea will disappear before the first commercial break, believe us.
But it’s Vergara, not Modern Family’s writers, that is bearing the brunt of their anger. Said Lizarraga, “Many Peruvians think this is no coincidence, that she knew what she was saying, because an actress has the power to say, ‘No, I can’t say this because it would hurt my image. Unless she agrees with what she said.” Again, we have to say, we don’t think that’s how show biz works, at least if the musical Fame is any indication.
Vergara tweeted in response to several of her detractors, pointing out that it was her character who said the offending line, not her and, well, saying people’s ignorance made her laugh: “la ignorancia de creer que una actriz es el personaje que representa ,que ternurita, dan mucha risa jajaja.” While this isn’t a hard and fast rule, celebrities, keep in mind: using Twitter to address an international crisis? Rarely a good idea.
The ants in our pants can take a breather – season one of Modern Family finally hit the racks today. The talent-laden and critically-acclaimed ABC series puts a hilarious spin on ordinary situations that crop up in today’s diverse families. Family cleaned up at the Emmys last month, taking home hardware for Outstanding Comedy, Casting, Writing, and Editing, as well as an individual win for Eric Stonestreet as Supporting Actor. The DVD set includes a whopping 24 episodes, guaranteed to bring on couch potato syndrome.
Extras: Deleted scenes and family interviews, an LOL-inducing gag reel, and “making of” featurettes.
Check out our exclusive DVD bonus clip where Phil (Ty Burrell) explains his relationship with his father-in-law, Jay (Ed O’Neill).
This kid is killing us. Rico Rodriguez, who plays Manny on Modern Family, may not have had glitz and sparkle like his TV mom, Sofia Vergara, but he was dressed to the nines last night and made quite an impression on us anyway. Wearing an outfit that fell somewhere between Nathan Detroit and Cedric The Entertainer, this kid stole the show when the Modern Family cast took the stage to accept their Emmy for Best Comedy Series. Check out some additional adorable pics of Rico celebrating (and fighting over) the Emmy with his cast mates below.
