Elle Fanning’s Rodarte gown at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards fit her personality perfectly — playful and light, yet totally glam. I chatted with the Super 8 actress about her love of fashion and her growing reputation as a style icon. “I’ve always loved clothes ever since I was little,” she told me, adding that she’s “really close” with Rodarte designers Laura and Kate Mulleavey. Elle, who was nominated for Best Young Actor/Actress, was giddy when discussing her status. “I look up to so many people in fashion,” she said, “so it’s funny for people to say that I’m a fashion icon.”
Elle’s big sister, Dakota, has outed her as a serious Robert Pattinson fan, so I had to ask her about maybe one day working with the Twilight star. “I would love that!” said Elle. “My sister said he was so nice, and I got to meet him at the premiere. That would be fun!” she said with a smile. Let’s make it happen, Hollywood!
For someone who is on the verge of mega-stardom, The Hunger Games’Josh Hutcherson could not be a more easygoing, earnest and sweet guy to talk too. Seriously, some actors are good at laying it on thick and rolling out manufactured answers, but talking to Josh is like chatting with a friend. Kinda reminds me of another interview favorite whose name rhymes with Robert Pattinson. Wait, that is his name. Well, you catch my drift.
I was given two questions with Josh at the People’s Choice Awards, but as you can see in the video above, I just kept talking as he headed on to his next interview. I’m not gonna lie, guys, I was kinda tongue-tied and nervous. I’ve been waiting to talk to this dude for so long and am SO excited to see him as Peeta that my mouth turned to mush when he sauntered up to my spot on the carpet. It was like finally speaking to the guy you’ve had a crush on for months and then being too freaked out to form a sentence. But I did manage to ask him a few things: about his bond with Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence, his favorite scene to shoot in the movie, that kiss, and if he gets freaked out by the fame and Team Peeta movement. He’s all yours in the video above.
You know who we had a blast talking to on the People’s Choice Awards red carpet? Tia (on the right) and Tamera Mowrey, stars of your favorite childhood show Sister, Sister, that’s who. They were fun and adorable and finished each other’s sentences like proper twins. And they have their own reality show on the Style Network, called Tia &Tamera, of course, so you too can OD on their cuteness. Tamera confessed she was excited to see Robert Pattinson because she’s a huge Twilight nerd (welcome to the club, girl), and that led us down the road of gushing over Rob and Kristen Stewart‘s cute couple steeze. And gush we did!
Can anyone play character roles better than Meryl Streep? We don’t think so. She’s taking on the role of Margaret Thatcher in the film The Iron Lady which premiered in London yesterday, and we can already hear Oscar chimes. She’s already nominated for the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards (next Thursday on VH1!), SAGs and Golden Globes. Will this film do what The Queen did for Helen Mirren? We have a strong feeling it will. Meryl looked absolutely lovely at the event. We can’t find fault with the hair and makeup, and we also covet the actress’ skin. Just look it at. It’s completely taut and glowing. And while we love seeing her in gowns, we’re also loving this royal blue and black tailored ensemble on her. She’s wearing a black dress and boots underneath, accessorized with gold jewelry — props for the tribal gold necklace. Bravo!
Christmas came early today in the form of this new Hunger Games still, which shows Katniss and Peeta training before the games. We thrilled to find Josh Hutcherson looking the most Peeta-y we’ve seen him — blond, buff and seriously handsome. We’ve been hard on the guy in the past, but this photo — combined with his serious acting skills — gives us a lot of hope for his portrayal Peeta. Jennifer Lawrence looks amazing as usual, and seeing them together has sparked our curiosity about their on-screen chemistry. Readers, are you sold?
Patton Oswalt scored a Critics’ Choice Awards Supporting Actor nomination for his role in Young Adult, and the comedian shared his excitement with us at the film’s premiere last week. “I really appreciate it,” he told us. “This is like gravy on top of gravy that was on top of icing.” The dude’s thrilled and we’re thrilled for him – he’s great in Young Adult and one of our favorite stand ups to ever roam the comedy clubs of planet earth.
The best part is that the Critics Choice Awards air on VH1 (January 12 at 8PM EST, ya’ll), so we get to hang with Patton again next month. “Is there drinking?” he asked of the show. “I’ll sneak a flask in.” Yes please, new boozy soul mate of ours! We promised the comic that if he found us backstage or on the carpet we’d have a bottle of his favorite scotch waiting for him. We’re hoping he takes us up on the offer; now all we need to do is figure out how much a bottle of Balvenie costs. Anyone?
Elizabeth Reaser is amazing as Beth in Young Adult. Understated, honest, confident and cool; she’s the perfect complement to Charlize Theron‘s brash, relentless Mavis. (Have you guys seen it? Go go go!) We caught up with the actress and Twilight alum at the LA premiere of the Jason Reitman-directed film (which as been nominated for three Critics’ Choice Awards) and chatted with her about her character and New Year’s resolutions. And then of course we had to ask her this: having worked with both Charlize and Kristen Stewart, which actress does she think will kick more ass inSnow White and the Huntsman?
Look, we’re stumped on this question ourselves. Obviously we have a little bit of a KStew fangirl thing going on (okay, it’s more like ‘a lot bit’) and she looks amazingly tough and fearless as Snow White. Girlfriend leads an army on horseback, for crying out loud! But Charlize radiates badassness both in the SWATH trailer and in real life, and her kickassery skills are second to none. Is it possible that they will kick equal amounts of ass? Could it be? Knowing these two amazing ladies, we don’t doubt it. Check out Liz’s very awesome answer above. (Unrelated: how gorgeous is her hair? Can we have hair like that, please?)
It’s been a busy year for Robert Pattinson, who spent much of his time shuffling through airports in Vancouver, Toronto, St. Thomas, London and Los Angeles as he shot Breaking Dawn and Cosmopolis, promoted Water for Elephants and hung out with his better half. In between all the traveling and guitar-lugging, Rob fit in an eventful year filled with magazine covers (Amish Hat, never forget), an adopted dog-child, a bevy of gorgeous Gucci suits and a memorable Movie Awards appearance filled with F-bombs and awkward jokes. We salute the Year in Rob with our favorite photos and moments, below.
This one’s for all of you who enjoyed Sam Worthington‘s glowering turn as Perseus in Clash Of The Titans last year. The official trailer for the sequel — Wrath Of The Titans — is out and is scheduled to hit cinemas next year. All the usual suspects are in: Worthington, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson, who now wants Perseus’ help ’cause dem Titans (who they believe to be “imprisoned forever”) are breaking free and they’re pissed! The eye candy in the movie is courtesy Rosamund Pike. As for Worthington, he’s still glowering but has longer, curlier hair which takes the edge off. Besides, the action and effects in this one look pretty insane. We’d put this in the ‘must watch’ pile.
