Dude Watch At The MTV Movie Awards: 10 Gents Who Float Our Boats

Male stars, MTV Movie Awards

There’s nothin’ like a dude in a well-cut suit. Scratch that — there’s nothing like a dude in a well-cut anything. Which is why we love this selection of looks that these 10 male celebrities wore to the MTV Movie Awards. A lot of styles were represented. We had classic with Chris Hemsworth in a waistcoat and shirt. That man is so incredibly handsome. Andrew Garfield wore a tie and skinny pants, while Mario Lopez put on a blazer and V-neck. We had the bad boy in Diego Boneta who looked sexy as hell in leather jacket, and hipster, with Josh Hutcherson in a pork pie hat and sneakers. Andy Samberg toed the line between formal and casual, with a blazer teamed with kicks and a casual T-shirt. Perhaps the most eye-catching look of all came courtesy Joe Manganiello who wore a stripper-friendly fireman’s outfit on stage. Hello, abs! Take a look at the gallery below for all the hotness.

Paris, Nicky Hilton And Nikki Reed Do Precious Metal Right At The MTV Movie Awards

Paris, Nicky Hilton, Nikki Reed MTV Movie Awards

Let’s for a second forget that Paris Hilton is contorting her body into shapes that shouldn’t even exist. Trust us, this was the least pretzel-like image we could find of her with her sister, Nicky Hilton. Let’s also, for a second, forget that Nikki Reed‘s smile is more of a grimace than a grin. Because all three of them have absolutely nailed  a trend we love at the MTV Movie Awards, precious metal. Seriously, anything metallic or sparkly brings out the magpie in us. We all know that embellishment and sequins don’t always go right, so when the wearer manages to get every detail spot on, it’s a cause for celebration.

We’ll start with Paris in a gunmetal Marco Squared sheath with an embellished neckline and hem. We love the fact that the silhouette is cut like a simple, sleeveless sheath. No frills, no hipbones jutting out — she let the fabric and the lines do all the talking. Her sister, Nicky, also wore a Marco Squared design, putting on a silver-grey jacquard strapless dress. It had amazing attention to detail, especially on the drapes of the skirt. Big win for the Hilton sisters! They look sexy, but nowhere close to trashy. We’d go as far to say that they look pretty darn fine. Nikki also joins their ranks in a stunning Randi Rahm cap sleeved, gold micro-beaded cocktail frock. Again, the silhouette is one of a shift, but who needs anything fancy with that fabric? We’re glad she kept it simple, but slightly cheeky — note the keyhole neckline. Dull gold peep-toe Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and a Pierre Hardy animal print clutch completed the look. Take a bow, ladies. Which look is your favorite?

MTV Movie Awards: The 10 Worst-Dressed Ladies Include Some Surprises

MTV Movie Awards Worst Dressed

We feel really bad for the ladies on the worst-dressed list at the MTV Movie Awards. A couple of tweaks to their outfits and they could have been on the best-dressed list, easily. None of the looks in this selection are heinous, except a few. Brooke Hogan would be one of the few. We can’t even begin to deal with her bedazzled, stomach-baring WTF of an ensemble. Another, would be Ciara, whose red Balmain mini-dress crosses the line from sexy short to wardrobe malfunction short. We get that the deep neckline and little skirt slit are supposed to be artful, but they looked ripped. Julianne Hough should be given the memo that a peplum is not necessary for everything. Especially not ’80s looking lace Sally LaPointe cut-out dress. They make the dancer look boxy when we know she isn’t at all. Bad silhouette.

Now on to the ones we truly feel sad about. We love Christina Ricci, but we feel she’s got so tiny that nothing fits her right anymore. Her Christian Siriano strapless number would have looked awesome if she could fill it out a little. As a result, the fabric swamps her and it, somehow, looks synthetic. Lucy Hale fell prey to that same problem. Her color-blocked Catherine Malandrino dress just didn’t sit right on her, which is shame, because Lucy is so lovely! We also beat our heads about Elizabeth Banks, whose sartorial flag normally flies high. We just coudn’t get on board with her black Elie Saab jumpsuit. The detail down the arms and bodice looked … spidery. Look, weird fashion stuff can also be amazing when people own it. She’s trying desperately to own this — we love the makeup and hair — but the outfit has run away with her. Better luck next time. That applies to all these ladies. Have a look at the gallery to see who else is on the list.

MTV Movie Awards 10 Best Dressed: Emmas Watson And Stone Lead The Pack

While Charlize Theron and Kate Beckinsale predictably brought their red carpet A-game, it was the under-25 crop of starlets who caught our eye at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards. Trailblazer Award winner Emma Stone, Wallflower darling Emma Watson and perpetual Best Kiss winner Kristen Stewart each took a risk and pulled it off adorably. Stone went for an unconventionally cut ivory and black Martin Grant dress with matching Brian Atwood pumps, while Watson wore a wildly printed Brood mini and Stewart rocked a fitted Guishem frock. We loved their daring choices, along with Shailene Woodley‘s pantsuit and Kat Graham‘s deep-cut all-black gown. Check out our Top 10 Best Dressed below.

KStew Making Out With Herself Tops Our List Of 8 Amazingly Awkward MTV Movie Awards Moments

Kristen Stewart makes out with herself

How could you not love watching Kristen Stewart beg Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and Taylor Lautner to come smooch her onstage while accepting the Best Kiss award … before just making out with herself instead? At the same time, how could you not cringe just a teensy bit? Can something be awkward and amazing simultaneously? Oh right, that pretty much sums up the entire MTV Movie Awards. Duh! KStew getting frisky with herself was only one awesomely squirm-worthy moment during tonight’s awards. Our other favorite rock-ward moments included:

2. Mila Kunis’ mystery heckler: What did that nutball yell at Mila while she was presenting the Dirtbag Award? Whatever it was, it nearly made Mark Wahlberg leap into the crowd to defend her honor. “And here I thought I was going to have to slap Russell,” he snarled at the unseen jerk. Whatever the mystery idiot said … awk-ward!

Russell Brand Demands A Kanye-Kim Sextape, Proposes To Fassbender At MTV Movie Awards

Russell Brand hosts the MTV Movie Awards
Twilight! Hunger Games!” Russell Brand called out throughout his MTV Movie Awards opening monologue, knowing it’d be the tried and true way to get cheers, no matter what tasteless joke he made just before. Not that we don’t love those jokes too, especially this time, when they took a decidedly self-deprecating turn. First, after he praised Justin Bieber for allegedly beating up a paparazzo, with a nod to his own phone-tossing encounter with a photographer.

“If, after recent events you think it’s hypocritical of me to joke about celebrities beating up a paparazzi, wait till you see what I have to say about short lived celebrity marriages,” Russell quipped. Which would have been funnier, had the show producers not cut away to Jennifer Aniston, making things just, awkward.

Russell then decided to pick on/praise Kanye West and Kim Kardashian for “taking the pressure off” him — Kanye for making headlines the last time Russell hosted an MTV awards show at the 2009 VMAs, and Kim for having an even shorter marriage end just before his did. He also encouraged the new couple to return to the skill that made Kim famous in the first place: making a sex tape. Only, he cautioned Kanye against drinking before turning on the camera. “Learn the lessons of the VMAs: When you’re drunk, you do have a propensity to pounce on unsuspecting girls from the rear with a bottle in your hand.”

Though he said Charlie Sheen was on hand to take even more pressure off of him in the crazy antics department, Russell provided one more joke at his own expense, reminding everyone of how he met Katy Perry when he hosted the VMAs. “Last time I did an awards show I did end up marrying someone that was there. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for my next wife. Fassbender, it has to be,” he said, eying Michael Fassbender in the audience.

We loved it, but what did you think?

Kristen Stewart And Her Trademark Mini Electrify The MTV Movie Awards

Our favorite ever-evolving style icon Kristen Stewart broke out her skinny stems and slipped on a funky Guishem mini for the MTV Movie Awards. With lightning bolts on the bodice and angular purple streaks down the skirt, we’re digging this edgy, form-fitting frock. Topped off with tousled hair, metallic nails and simple black pumps, she’s surely a contender on our forthcoming Best Dressed list.

Emma Watson Makes Us Almost Miss High School In The Brand New Perks Of Being A Wallflower Trailer

Based on the trailer that premiered during tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, the biggest perk of being a wallflower would be getting to hang out with Emma Watson and her perfect pixie cut. That prom scene! We swooned. We squeed. Joined by costars Ezra Miller and Logan Lerman, Watson sparkles as new friend/possibly requited crush Sam to Lerman’s titular wallflower. “And in this moment, I swear we were infinite,” his Charlie wonders aloud from the back of a pickup. Um, seriously. Never has driving into Pittsburgh looked so epic!

Emma Watson Stars In Perks Of Being A Wallflower

But we’re not just into the film for Emma’s crop, though that is 60% to 70% of why we love this trailer. We’re also into the sweet little nerdling romance! “Why do I and everyone I love pick people who treat us like we’re nothing?” Watson’s Sam wonders. “We accept the love we think we deserve,” Charlie tells her. Yup, we are already ready to tear up. “You see things and you understand. You’re a wallflower,” Miller’s Patrick proclaims. Sadly, all you wallflowers are going to have to wait until September 14 to see Emma in action, but boy, is our journal going to hear about this!

Kat Graham, Emma Watson Kick Off MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet With Flirty, Vampy Style

Emma Watson, Nikki Reed, Kat Graham at the MTV Movie Awards

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards kicked off, quite appropriately, with an influx of vampires, witches, wizards and werewolves. We love how Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, who was MTV’s style correspondent for the evening, seemed to be channeling old-school cult fave Elvira with her black gown — the deep-cut neckline and shoulder pads seemed more suited to a vampire than Bonnie the witch, and that slit invited her to strike an Angelina Jolie pose or two, which seemed like just the right tone for the night.

Also having fun with her outfit tonight is Emma Watson who posed in a short, swirly-patterned gray-purple-and-black dress by Tabitha Simmons before presenting the trailer for her upcoming Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Twilight star Nikki Reed was another early arrival, in a shimmery gold number, followed by the werewolf pack’s very own Julia Jones in an, em, eye-catching lime-green cut-out dress. Early contenders for silliest outfit of the show: the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, whose footy pajamas make us very curious about their set. Stay tuned for much more fashion commentary and news!

Twilight Battles The Notebook In Our Ultimate MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss Smoochdown!

The Notebook vs. Twilight

It’s all come down to this: Of all the steamy Best Kiss winners in the 20-year history of the MTV Movie Awards, you, dear fans, have decided that The Notebook and Twilight were the absolute steamiest. Not that we’re surprised, of course. We just wanted to give you a chance to say so. Now, though, as we try to see which of the two is the end-all, be-all of onscreen liplocks — and I’m nearly out of synonyms for kisses here, so thank goodness we only did three days of this poll — things are really unpredictable. Both are between two undeniably hot actors, both onscreen pairings lead to real-life romances, both movies are based on beloved novels. Both are either regularly re-viewed on DVD in your home or frequent stops on your weekend channel surfs. And both make our hearts pound and concentration difficult as we merely think about them right now.

A few things that differ: The Notebook kiss isn’t Allie and Noah’s first, the drama is in their reunion after suffering a long separation — the result of meddling parents and World War II. And the instant Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams run at each other in the rain you know they’re going waaaay past first base. Also, rain-soaked clothing basically trumps all.

Twilight’s kiss is Bella and Edward’s first, with all the initial awkwardness that entails. But there’s an added element of danger that makes things much more exciting, especially when they momentarily forget to restrain themselves. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are all kinds of hungry for each other, and we feel physical pain when Edward launches himself backwards to prevent himself from turning this makeout session in to a feast.

So, as we fluff up our couch cushions and get the popcorn ready for Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards, you have one last chance to decide between these two delicious scenes. We don’t envy you this decision. Polls close at 5 p.m. on Sunday!
