Congrats go to Taylor Swift for winning her second Entertainer of the Year trophy at last night’s Country Music Awards. But who should win our kudos for being the most spectacularly dressed at the Nashville ceremony? Um, Miss Piggy, obvs. The porcine beauty sported a dangerously short, shimmery champagne-colored dress onstage that we’re sure made Kermit wonder if he’s a mammal after all.
What really popped out last night (besides Kermit’s eyes), was the crazy variety of gowns, short, long, poofy and totally wacko. Taylor’s train must have spanned the entire length of the red carpet. Erin Andrews did Barbie proud in a short hot-pink number. Laura Bell Bundy‘s completely open royal-blue skirt revealed a beaded beige bodysuit — a look that was crazy but surprisingly flattering on her. Susie Brown of the JaneDear Girls accessorized her pink and purple ruffles with a cupcake purse. Natasha Bedingfield donned an entire carpet to perform. Martina McBride rebelled and wore pants. And of course, host Carrie Underwood embraced every single trend with her many gown changes throughout the night.
Flip through these many photos and decide for yourself if Miss Piggy had any rivals in the fashion department.
We were baffled to come in this morning to find pictures of Lady Gaga looking (gasp) shockingly normal (and hot) as she caught some waves in Mexico. But thank god Rihanna stepped up to the bizarro fashion plate and knocked a homer way out of WTF Park. Riri showed up to the London launch of her new scent ‘Reb’l Fleur’ today wearing what appears to be a top made of shaggy Muppet fur. What would (platonic) Muppet lover Jason Segel say!? Are you diggin the (errr…) risky look, or do you think she should throw it in Oscar’s trashcan? Get a closer look in the gallery below!
If we can’t marry Jason Segel (because we’re already married to Matt Damon,OF COURSE), we hope he can be our kid’s kindergarden teacher, because it is just so sweet that Jason Segel cried when he met Kermit in the new Muppet movie. Segel revealed to Jay Leno that, while working with Amy Adams on the new film due out next Thanksgiving, “When we did our first table read, they brought the actual puppets…and they brought out Kermit, and they had to stop because I started crying hysterically…It was so beautiful!” It takes a special man to making sobbing in front of a puppet seem anything but deeply disturbing, but somehow Jason pulls it off.
However, it’s not just his personal love of Kermie and the gang that moves Segel. At the end of the day, it’s really about the children. “When they bring kids to set, something really magical happens…The kid is looking directly at the puppet. They can’t, they don’t even notice the puppeteer,” Jason explained. “Every time I see that, I think that’s why I’m doing this movie.” Based on how adorable that is, we can already tell we’re going to reach WALL-E-like levels of weeping when we see the movie next year. We just hope we don’t cry harder than we did at Up, or else that usher is going to ask us to take it outside again.
Amy Adams and Jason Segel have the greatest jobs ever at the moment. While we toil away in our cubicle, those two are working on the set of the latest Muppet movie, which looks so fun. Seriously, the true answer to “What do we want to do when we grow up?” has always been “Work with Muppets,” so we’re so jealous right now. The movie, which was co-written by Segel, features cameos from almost every actor you can imagine. Expect to see Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Danny Trejo, Emily Blunt and Zach Galifianakis, to name just a few, onscreen with Kermit and Miss Piggy when the film opens next year.
Check out a few more pictures of the actors on set with the Muppets and their puppeteers below. Excuse us while we try to figure out how we can score a cameo in the film too.
