When you see the above photos of Kanye West wearing a red ski mask yesterday, you wouldn’t be blamed for coming up with a number of theories:
1) He’s finally lost it.
2) It’s as cold in Paris as it’s been here in New York.
3) He’s finally a little bit ashamed of the showy nature of his relationship with baby mama Kim Kardashian.
We’re sorry we’ve been ignoring Fashion Week this time around. The shows in Paris are in full swing and we thought mid-week would be a nice time to do a little round-up. Because where there is couture, there are celebrities. All vying for front-row, of course. We’ve gathered the top six stars visiting, because they were either, super well-dressed or, stuck out like sore thumbs. We’re talking about you, Rita Ora. That’s what the singer wore to the Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 shows. With Alexander Wang leather lace up boots. Not particularly politically correct, Rita. Kim Kardashian decided to channel a very chic Parisienne at the Stephane Rolland show, while Jessica Alba‘s chic little outfit and bright coral lipstick made us smile at Christian Dior.
Rounding up this sartorial crew are Salma Hayek, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike. We’re in love with Salma’s Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 collection claret dress worn, where else, but to the Valli couture showing. Diane pushed the boundaries as usual at the Chanel showing, looking like a French schoolgirl, while Rosamund’s sunny smile and enviable boots were the talk of fashionistas at Dior. But who are you talking up? Whose fashion was smashin’? Let us know, folks!

Three rather famous blonds popped up at Paris Fashion Week yesterday. What they have in common is this: their hair color, their ankle-strapped heels and the fact that they’re each wearing you-can’t-miss-this lipstick. But look how different the styling is for each woman. We’ll start with Amanda Seyfried, on the left, who’s the only wearing wearing pants out of the trio. We know what she was trying to achieve here, but the color blocking of those really dark plum lips, the red Prada suit with the aubergine Prada Mary Jane ankle-strap platforms is a little jarring. She was on her way to the Miu Miu show at Paris Fashion Week, as was Emma Stone, seen here on the right. The hair and makeup makes Emma look like a doll, right? A really, really glamorous one, though! We’re loving the bright red lip, the printed bag with that black prom dress — both by Miu Miu. But most of all, we’ve fallen head over heels (pun intended) for those hot pink, peep-toe platforms, also by Miu Miu. Lastly, we have Taylor Swift, in the middle, who was at the Elie Saab show wearing a pale blue dress from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection. If only she had been a little more adventurous! We like the vintage House of Lavande jewelry and her signature red lip, but those ankle-strap heels are insipid. Still, it’s hard to make Taylor look bad in anything, so she still passes muster and looks elegant, but Emma takes this one by a mile.

Are happy days back for Kristen Stewart? The actress arrived at Paris Fashion Week earlier today to catch both the Balmain and Balenciaga shows. Kristen is the face of Balenciaga’s Florabotanica perfume, remember. We didn’t expect any less from her, but, damn, did she look fierce. Not many people would think about putting this outfit on, because and let’s face it, it’s kind of nuts, but she worked it. Let’s see what we have here: a yellow quilted leather bomber jacket, crazy printed black-and-white pants, a blank tanks, ankle booties and gorgeous wavy hair tumbling down. The brands she’s wearing haven’t been released as yet, but we have a feeling she’s got Balenciaga on, as she does often for events. Perhaps that big pop of yellow is Freudian. Maybe it stands for the hope that she’s feeling — and all of us are feeling right with her — about the fact that she’s (reportedly) back together with Robert Pattinson. Apparently, they’ve moved back together into a new home in L.A. So she does have reason to smile, and what a smile it is, right? Even the notoriously snooty French were beside themselves!

We did our best to plan Katy Perry’s rebound guy, but we never saw this one coming. Insiders at Paris Fashion Week are reporting — well, at least to MediaTakeout — that the pop queen hooked up with her “E.T.” duet partner Kanye West! The two were introduced by Katy’s BFF Rihanna several years earlier, but magic must have been in the air Sunday night in the city of love, because sparks were apparently flying between Yeezy and the newly single Katy.
Following his fashion show, Kanye reportedly gave Katy a lift to the after party in his Mercedes. “Katy and Kanye were near each other all night,” a witness told MediaTakeout. “Not all over each other, just close like they were trying to hide it. … And after about an hour, they both inconspicuously left together.” We don’t know if it’s for real, but a Kanye and Katy coupledom is definitely our beautiful dark twisted fantasy!

Another day, another fabulous Paris Fashion Week event for Kristen Stewart. Flaunting her famously twiggy legs in a Louis Vuitton leopard print minidress, Kris showed up to the opening of “Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs: The Exhibition” with boytoy Robert Pattinson in tow. Our girl has been looking better than ever…but what’s that we see? Un peu case of bedhead? Perhaps tousled by Rob? Blame those LV Merry-Go-Round pumps.

Kanye West can legitimately give himself a pat on the back. His show at Paris Fashion Week took place yesterday and we actually enjoyed some of the looks. It was light years better than his first collection, even though the models were complaining about the shoes. Kim Kardashian wore the same skyscraper heels — nice move, Kanye — but we didn’t really focus on them as we were too busy staring at the fur stole she had on. It looked like it was eating her alive. He was also in his humble-Kanye avatar telling WSJ, “I learned a lot from the last one. I’m learning every day. I’m a new designer. I’m taking baby steps.”
He may be a new designer, but he ain’t a new celebrity. And therefore his celebrity pals turned up to support him in droves. Apart from Kim, Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beatz also represented. Alicia has been a staple at Fashion Week this year turning up looking really gorgeous at Chanel earlier that day. Diddy was there with Cassie and Rosario Dawson. Leigh Lezark and Ricardo Tisci were also spotted. Take a look at the vibe in the gallery below. It also has photographs from the show, in case you’re curious. Which you totally are.

First of all, we love looking at the Paris Haute Couture shows. They are art. They are fun. And we know that those giant gowns made of metal and rare animal hides are not actually meant to be worn by real human beings. But as anyone who has every Miranda Priestly quote from The Devil Wears Prada memorized well knows (is that just us?), the statements made on the runway do often find their way, however obliquely, to the lowly retail stores we mortals frequent. Or at least to the gowns that our favorite stars wear to the red carpet. And that fact sometimes scares us. Because we really, really don’t want to see Charlize or Michelle or Angelina looking like a sunburned flower gladiator next spring. (Though we do agree with Best Week Ever that this is a style everyone will enjoy wearing.) You will be scared too, once you look at this gallery of the top 20 styles from the Spring 2012 Couture shows that we really don’t want to see leave the catwalk.

She’s back! Kate Moss closed — and totally stole — the show for Louis Vuitton’s spring-summer collection in Paris yesterday. Love or hate her, you have to admit her presence on the runway adds that little something extra. Kate’s totally become more of front-row gal more than just your regular supermodel, so this appearance is indeed rare. The fact that her close pal Marc Jacobs designed the collection probably sealed the deal. Kate actually asked to be a part of it, as Marc explained, “She asked to be in the show and she’s a very dear friend so…happy to oblige”
Considering Kate just got married in July made the outfit she wore on the runway even more poignant. She looked like a demure, mod ’60s couturier’s bridal dream in a white laser-cut feather dress with a gorgeous bell skirt! That’s how it’s done, ladies and gents.

Lights, camera, grotesque mermaid in a dilapidated bathtub and….action! MTV reports that a Lady Gaga short film will debut at Paris Fashion Week next Wednesday. Kanye West must be rolling his eyes in recognition right about now. Oh man, is this the first time Kanye got the jump on Gaga, insane project-wise? Each day they move closer and closer to a diva-off; we can feel it…
Helmed by “You And I” directors Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the subject of the film is so far shrouded in mystery, but we’re almost certain it’s not going to be a Devil Wears Prada sequel. We can all agree that would be exquisite though, can’t we? Having modeled for Mugler before, Lady Gaga‘s short film will be screened as part of Mugler’s Spring 2012 Women’s Wear Collection Spring. Because nothing says lightweight knits like a bizarre montage of perturbing images straight from the mind of Gaga.
