We’re as surprised at this list of the worst-dressed ladies at the People’s Choice Awards as you are. A lot of our favorites are in there, so don’t bother throwing stones at us, because we’ve beaten ourselves up plenty already. But in the interest of fairness, we’ll just chalk their fashion missteps down as a bad day at the stylists. Each of these women are lovely, but bad decisions can happen to anyone right?
Leading the way, sadly, is Vanessa Hudgens. She does her hippie-meets-goth thing usually, but this Jenny Packham gown combined the worst of both styles. We don’t like the way it’s constructed and the two layers — the black gown and the gold spiderweb — are looking slopply. The Casadei heel look too clunky, as well. Still, top points for her luminous smile! Next up is Jennifer Morrison, whose severe, huge bun and slash of too-dark lipstick veers into matron territory. That Oscar de la Renta dress is vaguely reminiscent of a lampshade. We feel it would’ve looked a lot better if she had done something different with her hair and make-up — perhaps gone softer. Her buddy Ginnifer Goodwin is also on the list. We love the color of her Roksanda Ilinicic dress, but those sleeves looks like they’re going to eat her alive, just like those Jimmy Choo’s look like they’re eating her feet. It’s too much dress for such a tiny body. Another disappointment was Lucy Hale, who is so pretty, but her black Cengiz Abazoğlu number has a split personality. It feels like she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to wear a maxi or a mini, so ended up going with both. Read more…
As expected, there was a lot of traffic on the red carpet for the People’s Choice Awards and we’re happy to report that some new faces popped up on the best-dressed radar. We welcome Ashley Benson into the fold. She wore an adorable, trumpet-skirted, white (with a black underskirt peeking out) Alice + Olivia frock that we now covet. Also wearing the same designer was a very pregnant Alyson Hannigan who wore a form-fitting, embellished sheath that showed off her bump. Her How I Met Your Mother co-star and close friend Cobie Smulders rocked it in a strapless, electric-blue Reema Acra dress. That incredible gold necklace you see on her is by Etro. Blue works like a charm for Cobie — remember her turquoise Grecian gown at the Emmys last year? Julianne Hough is also on the list and she gets the sexiest ever award in a sizzling silver chainmail Kaufman Franco dress. It clung to every curve but covered everything up in the front. But when she turned — bam — totally backless.Faith Hill — who sang at the show — looked like a beautiful, tall drink of water in a tangerine, halter-necked cocktail dress.
Now to the usual suspects. Miley Cyrus and Lea Michele both wore white but to very different effects. Miley wore a very original David Koma dress which had a sheer panel down the front — it didn’t look smutty at all — and a touch of colorful texturing at the hem. Lea wore a spectacular flapper-like Marchesa dress with a draped back. It was possibly our pick for the night, especially paired with her slash of pink lipstick. Kristen Bell chose one of our favorite designers, Valentino, and wore a lovely sheer blouse and skirt in the punchy shade of vermilion. Chloe Moretz looked fabulous in a green-and-black, edgy Proenza Schouler dress — trust her to pick the coolest designers at 14. It’s beyond us. Rounding up the list, and making us want to say “Top of the mornin’ to ya,” is Emma Stone. It’s the most unusual outfit for the awards show, but she nails it. Emma wore head-to-toe Gucci with a shamrock green tuxedo jacket, black cigarette pants and white silk shirt that had two long panels trailing out.

So many stars to choose from, such little time. The National Board of Review Awards Gala took place last night at Cipriani’s New York, and it turned out to be a very fashionable red carpet. We culled the top 10 for you, but it wasn’t easy. We were especially pleased with Chloe Moretz, who wore a lovely cherry-red Miu Miu belted coat dress, and Viola Davis who was equally bright and beautiful in a fuchsia Lauren by Ralph Lauren cowl dress. She paired her outfit with House of Lavande jewels and Jimmy Choo sandals. Stacy Keibler picked a flowing black Marchesa silk crepe gown with a bejeweled neckline, but her best accessory was boyfriend, George Clooney, of course.
Cocktail frocks were all the rage at the event too. Keira Knightley wore a black, lace-panelled Nina Ricci dress, while Emma Stone picked a cream J. Mendel number. Rooney Mara looked very chic in a minimal austere Miu Miu dress with YSL pumps, whereas Jessica Chastain went the opposite direction in a balloon-skirted, chinoiserie embroidered Zac Posen. Felicity Jones picked a very sexy, sheer Dolce & Gabbana corseted outfit and Naomi Watts wore a slinky black dress with gold chainmail detailing. James Franco’s ex, Ahna O’Reilly, rounds up the list in a fun, striped, ’40s-inspired silhouette. Have a look at all our picks in the gallery below.
Rihanna knows what’s important in life: good friends, giant beers, fabulous gold Louboutins worn with jean shorts and a t-shirt, and, of course, the L.A. Lakers, whom the singer rooted for at last night’s home game in L.A. Also, beers. Did we mention the beers?
Luckily those are all also excellent ways to celebrate the news that Rihanna is reportedly the top-selling digital artist of all time, racking up 47.5 million digital downloads since she started killing it in 2005. News like this calls for a few more amazing pairs of Louboutins. Did you think we were going to say a few more amazing beers? We were.
January Jones treated her lower torso to some billowing electric blue pajama pants last night while visiting Fogo de Chao in West Hollywood for her 33rd birthday. Maybe it’s just us, but the Mad Men star’s outfit looks like it’s business on top, Hammer Time on bottom. While January’s cardigan says, “I’m a go-getter with a knack for office management,” her pants scream, “I should be dancing through a puddle behind Heavy D in the “Now That We Found Love” video.” Are we just being jealous of how comfortable January’s legs must be in all that fabric, or are those things truly as eye-searing as we think they are?
This is one very stylish set of women. The Help is up for Best Ensemble at the Critic’s Choice Movie Awards next week. It’s airing live from the Hollywood Palladium at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, January 12, on VH1. We’ve already shown you Jessica Chastain‘s 20 Hottest Looks, but felt we needed to see a lot more of the rest of the star cast. It’s incredible to have so many strong, talented, beautiful women act in one movie, and we can’t wait to see them own the red carpet next week. Three of the leads — Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer — really caught our eye, and we’re wondering what they’re going to pull out of the bag, sartorially. It’s a big night, so we’re expecting some serious fashion. To refresh our memories, and yours, we decided to pull out each of the three ladies’ top five looks from 2011. Octavia favors cocktail dresses, which she heats up with some great accessories like leopard-print shoes and metallic clutches. Viola likes punchy, bright colors and can wear the hell out of a gown. Emma can pull off just about anything, which is why she made it to our list of 30 Best Dressed Stars Of 2011. Want to see for yourself? Click on our gallery below.
2011 could pretty much be called The Year Of Jessica Chastain. The lady was EVERYWHERE last year, with so many great performances that she probably deserves an Oscar category of her own! Her biggest credits this year include award winning roles in The Help (which also earned her a CCMA nom), The Tree Of Life, and The Debt, to name just a few. And who knows what 2012 will bring! But of course, with every stunning movie comes an equally stunning outfit to wear to the premiere, and Jessica has lit the red carpet on fire more than her fair share in the 12 months. So without further ado, we’d like to present Jessica Chastain’s 20 hottest styles. Enjoy!
Everyone knows that the first few days after the holidays can be a real bummer. But these sexy celebs chased away the post-holiday blues by heading to Miami Beach. And we have to say, seeing them strut their stuff in the surf cheered us up, too! Rihanna, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Mischa Barton and even ex-Nsync’er Lance Bass were spotted soaking up the sun, while Jennifer Lopez cruised the harbor in a yacht with her boyfriend Casper Smart. And that’s just the start! Check out the gallery below to see what other stars helped make Miami Beach even hotter!
2011 brought along with it a host of new fashion trends, from long-sleeved gowns to daytime sequins to the ever-unfortunate mullet dress. The biggest trend of all, however, seems to have been stars looking like a volcanically hot mess. Yes, like a single strand of pearls or a little black dress, celebrities sashaying down the red carpet in cringe-inducing couture never gets old. After all, these are people who all have stylists. Who they pay real money. To make them look good. We know.
We imagine being the face of Marc by Marc Jacobs would make it easy to forget that you haven’t even finished puberty yet. That’s why we were filled with such sparkly Lisa Frank feelings at the sight of Elle Fanning looking refreshingly junior high on at a friend’s house in Studio City, California. Torn jeans, bright white sneakers and a pillow? That’s practically the national sleep over uniform! We hope Elle enjoys her much-needed break from the demands of couture by taking part in the hollowed traditions of girlhood: eating way too many Cool Ranch Doritos, hiding the Ouija board under the couch in mute terror, and understanding only half of every Sex and the City episode.
