Oscar Fashion Face-Off: Nicole Kidman Vs. Gwyneth Paltrow

While the 2011 Oscars red carpet was ruled by graceful, grand gowns, a few ladies did try to break out of the mold. Gwyneth Paltrow‘s golden Calvin Klein number stood out both in shape and style (though Gwyneth wore the Michael Kors gown from her Country Strong number at the afterparty)  , while Nicole Kidman‘s Christian Dior looked like she’d gone MacGyver on a tablecloth, with unflattering fabric bunching up on the hips. What do you think?

Benicio Vs. Bale: Battle Of The Lions’ Manes!

It’s time once again to play What Movie Role Could Dignify This Crappy Haircut? Christian Bale‘s long, curly locks at the premiere of The Fighter could be explained by a lot of things: he could be playing a knight in a medieval movie, for one, or a Canadian hockey star. Perhaps he’s The Cowardly Lion in a The Wizard Of Oz update? Is there a Joe Eszterhas or Chad Kroeger biopic happening? As for Benicio Del Toro‘s bushy look at yesterday’s Somewhere gala…this guy’s either playing Tommy Chong or turning into him. Which of these actors do you think needs to give up the Barry Gibb look more? Check out the gallery, whip out your electric razor, and cast your vote in our TheFABLife poll.

Anne Hathaway Vs. Anne Hathaway In Australia

Love And Other Drugs may not be a hit stateside (maybe people found the idea of Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway naked and happy just a little intimidating), but that doesn’t mean the stars can give up promoting it. Jake and Anne were in Australia over the weekend, posing together in smart suits and slinky short dresses respectively. Which of Anne’s looks did you like more: the shiny golden number she wore to the premiere, or the blue sparkler she wore at a dockside press conference earlier? Check out the gallery and let us know in our TheFABLife poll.

Simon Le Bon Is Hairy Like The Wolf

If there’s one band we never thought would have a “beardo” phase, it’s Duran Duran. Simon Le Bon was looking his shaggiest en route to the studio in London earlier today, continuing to sport the beard he debuted earlier this month. While the singer’s mug definitely looks puffier than it did in the days of wine and Rio—he has been at it for 30 years!—we’re not sure if we’re digging the GrizzLe Bon vibe. Is their next album going to be some kind of esoteric Radiohead trip? Is Sting once again being a horrible influence on ’80s stars? Check out the gallery below and let us know if you’re pro-grow in our TheFABLife poll.

Taylor Swift’s AMA Bangs: Love ‘Em Or Hate ‘Em?

Calling William Hung! Taylor Swift proved she bangs last night, whipping out this dramatic new look at the American Music Awards. While this isn’t the first time Taylor’s flattened her locks, we’re still always shocked when she does it. Do you think she should keep the look? Check out the gallery and let us know in our TheFABLife poll.

Ashlee Simpson Goes For A Blonde Pixie Cut…But How Does It Compare To Her Past Looks?

Ashlee Simpson just debuted a hot, blonde pixie cut as she stepped out with son Bronx Mowgli yesterday. The style is super-hip, but a huge change from her most recent look where she was rocking long brown (are we calling it ombré?) hair, a la Rachel Bilson. Come to think of it, Simpson has been pretty daring in the past with her hairstyles, going from sunny blonde to deep auburn to goth, number-one-Fall-Out-Boy-fan spiky black. Take our poll and let us know which Simpson-style you love best!

Russell Brand Shaves Facial Hair, Signals Beard-Pocalypse

This has been a dark week for beard lovers around the world. Brad Pitt has parted with his scraggly facial hair, but we can pretty much all agree that was for the best. But now even Russell Brand has jettisoned his trademark scruff! Is this a sign of something bigger? Is this the first sign of the Beard-Pocalypse?

Apparently Russell shaved for his role in the remake of Arthur, so perhaps it isn’t the end of beards as we know it. But it is quite the change to Russell as we know him. Having recently trimmed his massive lion’s mane to a more manageable size, and lacking any trace of Jackie O rock-star sunglasses, this is the most we’ve ever seen of Russell’s face. Gaze upon it. What do you think? Do you prefer the clean shaven dapper dandy or the hirsute dark and menacing rocker?

Love It Or Hate It? Black And White On Greene

To earn the role of Alice Cullen, the only casting requirement was that Ashley Greene have the face of an angel, so of course she’s naturally beautiful. It’s just that sometimes, um, her clothes aren’t.

This long-sleeved white number that wore to the Antwerp premiere of Eclipse has potential – viewing it from some angles, it’s cute, but head-on it looks like a white potato sack with a black bra strapped across its front. What do you think, is the dress a mess or are we just projecting our jealousy because she’s gorgeous?

This isn’t the only outfit of Ashley’s that we’ve questioned, by the way – check out all her hottest looks in our gallery and see how it compares.

Style Wars: Lily Allen Vs. Zoe Saldana At The Glamour Awards

Sometimes people just look better in black. Two of our favorite looks at Glamour‘s Women Of The Year Awards in London (which mostly consisted of British models for Nick Jonas to gawk at) came from Lily Allen, rocking massive sheer sleeves with a long black dress, and Zoe Saldana, who wore a short black mini with an embroidered lace top. Check out the gallery below (featuring Anna Kendrick, Nicole Richie and Kelly Rowland) and let us know who worked it better in our TheFABLife poll.

Battle Of The Sexy Smooch: Sandra & Scarlett Vs Sandra & Meryl

In case you missed it, the 2010 MTV Movie Awards went down last night. After a bunch of F-bombs were dropped and some interesting fashion choices were displayed, we walked away from the event feeling pretty sure about a few things: we’re convinced Robert Pattinson (photos) and Kristen Stewart (photos) are totally a couple (check out 80 Robsten photos worth of proof), Tom Cruise is only tolerable as Les Grossman and Jesse James is weeping Vanilla Gorilla tears after Sandra Bullock made all of our jaws drop with her charming speech, gorgeous dress and steamy kiss with Scarlett Johansson.

Yes, Sandra and Scarlett swapped spit onstage, but that’s not the first time Sandra has shared the stage and her lips with another beautiful actress. Earlier this year, Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep kissed in an unforgettable moment at the 2010 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. We want to know which kiss you think was hotter! Sandra and Scarlett’s sensual peck or Sandra and Meryl’s open mouthed kiss?

Watch Sandra and Meryl’s surprise smooch from the CCMAs now.
