Sure, we’re into weepy deathbed monologues, blood-squirting massacres and the occasional merman scene or two (#CabinInTheWoods4ever), but what we really love to see on the big screen is, well, love. Lucky for us, the summer movie season is always packed with romance, whether it be of the action or indie variety. Not that we’re picky — we eat it all up, thank you very much.
This summer’s crop of movies offers up a buffet of romantic relationships sure to suit even the most critical of tastes. At the core of The Amazing Spider-Man is the romance between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, played by real-life loves Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. And of course what would a comedy about rippling male strippers (Magic Mike) be without a love story between the beefy protagonist (Channing Tatum) and his protegee’s sister (newcomer Cody Horn)?

But equally intriguing are the more unconventional relationships coming to the big screen as the weather warms up. Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg play that perfect couple everyone loves in Celeste & Jesse Forever, who shock their friends when they decide to divorce. In Savages, Taylor Kitsch andAaron Johnson play two dudes who band together to rescue their kidnapped girlfriend (Blake Lively). That’s right – they both date her. But the onscreen pairing we’re most pumped for? Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward in Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom, in which they play two tweens who fall in love and plot – and execute – their escape from their small New England town.
There’s movie love for everyone out there, so what’s your favorite onscreen pairing this season? Poll it up below!

There are some new faces to the blockbuster game this year, like Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki, who stars in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Battleship‘s Rihanna. Emma Stone gets to hook up with real-life beau Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and Rachel Weiszmight be doing the same onscreen with her Bourne Legacy co-star Jeremy Renner.
Whether they’re cartoons like Princess Merida in Pixar’s latest epic Brave, or real live ladies like Prometheus star Noomi Rapace, you can be sure that these women aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty while they save the rest of us — but they’ll still look amazing doing it. Our question to you is: Which of these heroic ladies are you most looking forward to seeing this summer? Check out the gallery and let us know in our poll! Read more…
Is Kristen Stewart guest starring on Mad Men? Because her new ElleUK June cover — seen on the left — made us think of a 60’s diva immediately. The shoot went down on March 13 in L.A. and aims to promote her forthcoming film Snow White And The Huntsman. They even documented Kristen’s time at the session sending out messages like, “On outfit 4. It’s still sunny but there’s a chill in the garden, so Kristen’s covering up in a zip-up hoodie between shots.” So we know she tried on multiple ensembles. The one they eventually picked for the cover was this gorgeous, textured Jil Sander dress. Pair that with sexy minimal makeup and retro-chic hair, and we got ourselves a hot cover. We don’t really get the association of this image with what her role in Snow White is about — other than the dress being white, of course — but we’ll take what we can get because she looks beautiful.
This is the second Elle cover for Kristen, FYI, which you can see with the photograph on the right. This was also released in June but back in 2010. That shoot was pretty spectacular too, even though she was still growing out her The Runaways hair. Even though the styling in that photograph is pretty modern, the hair takes us straight back to the ’70’s, thanks to her amazing portrayal of Joan Jett in the movie.
So here we have it. Two covers. Both for June but shot two years apart. One is fabulously retro and the other is the ’70’s-meets-modern. You have to tell us which one you prefer.
Has it already been a year since Prince William and Kate Middleton got hitched? It will be on Sunday, April 29, and we’re going to swig a glass or two (or three) for the royal couple. More than anything, this last year is when we completely fell in love with Kate and her winsome style. Seriously, the woman never fails to put her best fashion foot forward. More than anything, she puts in a lot of thought into the political context of her clothes, which is always appreciated. Remember when she wore Canadian designer Erdem Moralioglu while visiting Canada? Or that fab red Maple Leaf hat by Lock And Co. on Canada Day celebrations? Smart moves, gurl. And they — along with her gracious personality — have only served to win her more fans.
So, in celebration of her royal style and of her impending one-year anniversary on Sunday, we’ve compiled an epic gallery of Kate’s top 25 looks. It was a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. But we also want you to get involved. We’ve got a numbered list of all the 25 looks right below, in order of our preference. Go through the list (you won’t be sorry) which is linked to the corresponding picture in the gallery. The gallery is also numbered from 1-25 in case you want to go straight to it. Below it, we’ve got ourselves a poll of the top 15 of that list. We’d love for you to vote and tell which is your favorite. We’ve even got the designers and milliners down for every outfit, so have a ball, click away and vote, vote, vote!
You couldn’t miss either Christina Milian and Beyonceyesterday thanks to the primary color of their respective wardrobe choices. They both worked it out in different doses of hot pink. Christina sat with another Christina (Aguilera) courtside at the Lakers game yesterday wearing a pair of tight fuchsia pants with matching open-toed, strappy high heels. What a cutie! Beyonce, on the other hand, was a lot less bodycon and a lot more bohemian. She swanned around on the other coast, in midtown New York, wearing a hot pink, long-sleeved top tucked into a flowing patchwork skirt. Sunglasses, a fedora and pumps finished off the look. So what we really have to know is, who pulled off the color better? We can’t decide. Perhaps you can help us make up our minds! Vote, vote, vote!
You would think that would three wardrobe changes in the course of one evening, something would fall through the cracks. Not so with Jennifer Lawrence and her team of stylists. The actress really made The Hunger Games promotional rounds in New York yesterday and her trio of outfits have us doing a slow clap. J.Law started the evening heading to a taping of The Late Show With David Letterman, wearing the outfit on the left. You can’t fault the black Raoul dress with the diamond neckline, especially when paired with those awesome Jimmy Choo heels. She ended up changing the dress for the show and left wearing it, so we got a good luck. It’s the gorgeous black and dull gold panelled Prabal Gurung dress in the middle, with the same Choos. Remember Jennifer’s gold The Hunger Games world premiere dress? That was Prabal Gurung too.
Lastly, Jennifer had to get to a couple of different stops which included a cast signing and a screening of THG hosted by The Cinema Society and Calvin Klein. She, of course, wore Calvin Klein for it — but check out that dress (on the right.) That’s quick a sexy, plunging neckline, but the rest of it so elegant. The silk, pleated forest green cocktail number is a total hit with us. But is it with you? We want to know whether you like the sartorial direction in which Jennifer is heading. We have a poll with all three dresses itemized. Which one is a keeper?
When we saw Elizabeth Banks at the L.A. The Hunger Games premiere a couple of days ago, we thought she was trying to be the girl on fire. As opposed to co-star and real firestarter Katniss EverdeenJennifer Lawrence, who wore gold Prabal Gurung and continued her metallic trend at the film’s London premiere last night. Elizabeth was kind of paying homage to Effie Trinket in a sexy bright orange Atelier Versace frock back in L.A. She continued the bright flame trend in London as well, wearing a gorgeous, backless canary yellow Bill Blass gown on the carpet last night. Do we love it? Yes we do! Stick with a color scheme that works for you, we say. We also noticed that Elizabeth looked quite bronzed in her yellow dress. Just the right amount though. She didn’t steer into Jersey Shore territory.
As we did with Jennifer in the post before this, we want to know what you think of Elizabeth’s flame trend, by comparing her two dresses in the photograph below. On the left is the yellow Bill Blass gown she wore last night in London. On the right is the orange Atelier Versace frock she wore a earlier this week. We have the poll waiting for you after the jump, so vote!
Two golden gown back-to-back and we couldn’t be happier. Jennifer Lawrence swanned in to The Hunger Games European premiere in London last night wear this stunning, shimmering metallic gold Ralph Lauren gown with a black YSL belt. If you take a closer look at it, you’ll see how the entire dress seems to be made entirely of sequin sheeting giving it a wonderfully fluid vibe. Remember how Jennifer wore that awesome gold, metallic Prabal Gurung gown to the premiere of the The Hunger Games in L.A? She’s really going for gold, isn’t she! Whoever her stylist is, they should take a bow right about now.
The Ralph Lauren gown she wore last night makes her look very elegant as well, even though the black YSL belt cinched at the waist is so sexy. The gold Prabal Gurung gown she wore in L.A. was a lot more va-va-voom, especially due to the cutouts. Jennifer rocked them both, is our take. Have a look at the photograph below to compare the two. We’ve also got a poll after the jump, so you can let us know which look you prefer. We really want to know your opinion, because we’re torn between the two, so vote vote vote!
When diva meets diva, you know it’s gonna be good! We’re in the second round of our 8 Greatest Women In Pop poll, and now the people have spoken and pitted Mariah Carey against Beyonce! It’s a pretty evenly matched fight, as both ladies have a lot in common. They’re both new moms, both have famous husbands, and most importantly, they’re both got super hot ‘n’ sassy style to burn! Can Mimi take on Bebe? Check out the gallery of their best looks below to help you decide, and then cast your vote in our poll! Do it soon, voting for this round closes at 11 AM tomorrow, Friday the 24th…
The premiere for We Bought a Zoo happened last night in New York. The two leading ladies of the film — Scarlett Johansson and Elle Fanning — both looked lovely, but could not have been more different sartorially. Granted there are quite a few years between them, but we know Elle’s going to carry on being on the outré side of fashion with brands like Rodarte and Marc Jacobs already casting her in their campaigns.
Scarlett looks equally at home in designer wear, but can’t help looking like a bombshell in everything she puts on. No exceptions for this black Dolce & Gabbana frock that showed off a sliver of skin right underneath the bodice. Elle, on the other hand, looked very fashionable but very sweet in this ivory Louis Vuitton dress and heels. They may be poles apart, but which pole do you prefer?
