Miley Cyrus Strikes A Blow For Freedom With New Occupy Wall Street Music Vid

Recent birthday girl and alleged pothead Miley Cyrus is making headlines once again today for her controversial behavior, but this time it’s political. The former Disney star is adding her voice to Occupy Wall Street protests by releasing a music video consisting entirely of footage from the world wide demonstrations. She posted the clip for the 2010 song “Liberty Walk” to her YouTube account, dedicating it to “the thousands of people who are standing up for what they believe in…” This move has upset her more conservative fans, or more appropriately, the more conservative parents of her fans.”Miley Cyrus is now banned from my house along with 30 other entertainment political wannabes,” one furious father commented on her channel.

Is the clip really so inflammatory? Miley might be promoting revolution, but weren’t people like George Washington considered revolutionary in their day? Do conservatives have a problem with our founding fathers!? Well we won’t stand for it! We got your back, Miley! In fact, she may be the best friend freedom has ever had. Although it may take a couple of listens to fully digest her lyrics, you can soon see that Miley is obviously following in the footsteps of great freedom fighters of the past.

For example, Abraham Lincoln once said that “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.”

Miley echoed this sentiment with a defiant:

“Don’t stop, keep on walkin’ it.
Don’t stop, keep on talkin’ s–t”

Cruise under the jump to see the now-infamous video, and more of our in-depth analysis!

Daryl Hannah Arrested At White House Protest

In case you were wondering, “What that actress from Splash up to these days?,” the answer is: taking on the U.S. government. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daryl Hannah got arrested outside the White House today while taking part in a sit-in against a proposed extension to a tar sand pipeline running from Canada to Oklahoma. Allegedly Hannah’s rep was unaware of the arrest when contacted by CNN earlier today, which just sort of adds to the whole rogue, badass mystique Daryl now has in our minds.

Joined by roughly 100 others at the protest, Hannah reportedly said, “We stand here today to just say no to slavery, to just say no to tar sands, oil and no to the Keystone pipeline.” Daryl has been arrested for protesting about environmental issues before, including a 2006 arrest for chaining herself to a tree, and one in 2009 during a sit-in to protest mining in West Virginia. One more arrest and we can officially declare Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 the second and third coolest things Daryl has ever done, respectively.
