A year after entering rehab, Demi Lovato returned to the same treatment center yesterday, only this time, as a speaker. She sent out a series of emotional tweets about the occasion. One read, “Wow what an inspiring day… Many tears were shed and many memories were brought back at Timberline Knolls today.” It was followed by, “Today I went back to the treatment center I went to last year, to speak to the beautiful women fighting their inner demons.. was so honored.” Eva Longoria lent her support by retweeting that last message and adding, “So proud of u Demi!” We echo those sentiments. It takes a lot to be able to turn something that was so negative into something that could inspire and help people going through the same issues.

Brooke Mueller’s troubles with the law and with drugs are far from over. Charlie Sheen‘s ex was arrested in Aspen as the weekend rolled in, on counts of suspicion of felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor third-degree assault. She allegedly assaulted a woman at a nearby bar, and then carried on to a nightclub (ironically called Escobar) to party. That’s where cops found her and dragged her out. Brooke was released on $11,000 bond the next day, which Sheen supposedly coughed up. Does this mean another round of rehab?
Although one of Disney’s brightest lights, Demi Lovato has had anything but a fairy tale life over the past year. Struggles with bipolar and eating disorders landed the 19-year old in rehab last winter and threatened to totally derail her career. But like the skyscraper she sings about on her latest single, Demi rose above those challenges and returned to the stage better than ever! Yesterday the young star (and this month’s VH1 Posted Artist!) stopped by The Ellen Degeneres Show to talk about her struggles.
“I don’t know what to really call it but yeah, I’ve called it a breakdown, a meltdown,” she told the host. “I went from being at the highlight of my career…So many things were going great in my life and then all of the sudden my personal life just went down at crazy speeds.” But despite the awful comedown, Demi says that it was just the wake-up call she needed to seek professional help. “If I had never gone into the treatment … I don’t know if one, I’d even be sitting here today. Two, if I’d be alive today.” With her career soaring and her life seemingly on the path to success once again, Demi hopes that her experiences will serve as an example to her young fans who are going through problems of their own.
“There needs to be a role model out there and for the first time in my life I actually feel like one.” She warns young women to beware of “very very skinny” models that are so prevalent in the media. “It’s very unhealthy. There was nobody out there for me to look at and say, maybe this is unhealthy,” she admits. “So I want to be that for a 13-year-old girl at home deciding whether or not to eat dinner or an 18-year-old deciding whether or not to keep her breakfast down.” Demi’s new album Unbroken comes out at midnight tonight. Give it a listen, folks. This gal’s got something to say.

Remember when Brooke Mueller jetted to a Mexican rehab center last month? Turns out she only ended up spending 12 hours across the border before being scooped up by her ex, Charlie Sheen, who brought her back to the States via private jet. Confused? Yeah, so are we. This isn’t exactly ex-husbandly behavior, but he’s doing it anyway. In efforts to help her get clean, Charlie’s spotting Brooke’s new rehab treatment tab and it’s the same one he went through a couple of months ago when his Two and a Half Men swansong had begun.
Apparently, Charlie was uncomfortable with Brooke’s Mexican getting-clean program since it’s so controversial, which is why he intervened. Brooke’s is already at the facility and Charlie’s monitoring and paying for the whole thing. Hey, they may not be together, but they do have children. If this mutual support system works even though they’re not a couple any more, well, more power to them.
Why must our TV boyfriends mess up our fantasies with their real-life human problems? People reports that Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane is headed to rehab, and we highly doubt there are enough sexy drug counselors there to keep us happy. Said the actor’s rep in a statement, “Actor Eric Dane voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus. He reports back to work next week. Business as usual. Out of rehab by next week? Even Grey’s would give him a longer story arc, and that show went off the rails three seasons ago.
That being said, we always support celebrities not being addicted to things, and this is still less disappointing than McSteamy’s sex tape scandal with wife Rebecca Gayheart and former Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche. We wanted fresh rose petals and sumptuous mood lighting, not a threesome picking out porn names before taking a nap! Thank the lord Dane still has those piercing eyes, or else we’d have to pick another fictional doctor to neurotically obsess over.
Brooke Mueller is off to rehab in Cancun, Mexico. She was spotted leaving L.A International Airport yesterday, after being discharged from a hospital on Monday post her alleged on-flight altercation last week. She was accompanied by her personal physician who’s coming with her for the program which isn’t a plush, celebrity holiday, as most soujourns in Cancun are. Brooke’s determined to kick her drug habit for good this time round and is even willing to try out something called “ibogaine”, which is illegal in the U.S,  for that purpose. That’s the reason why she has to go across the border.
Ibogaine is an experimental treatment that is supposed to stop drug cravings. Here’s the irony though — ibogaine itself is a hallucinogen. Her physician will be overseeing everything though, and it’s been approved in Canada and other countries as well. A source reveals that, “Brooke is absolutely desperate. She wants to be sober, and she thinks that this could be just the thing that will do it. Brooke is aware of the dangers of ibogaine, but she is going to proceed anyway.” Mueller’s going to be in rehab for a week. We wish her well and hope it works out for her! Desperate times lead to desperate measures but you never know what’ll do the trick. Her kids are being watched by their aunt and nanny, in case you were wondering.
If the writers on Glee ever run out of story ideas, Cory Monteith’s drug addiction seems like a rich, real-life experience for a teen to go through, rather than, getting stuffed into a human cannon. After a stint in rehab didn’t help him overcome his substance abuse, Monteith admits that he once “stole a significant amount of money from a family member.” The actor recalls, “I knew I was going to get caught, but I was so desperate I didn’t care. It was a cry for help. I was confronted and I said, ‘Yeah, it was me.’ It was the first honorable, truthful thing that had come out of my mouth in years.” As for his drug of choice, Monteith said he’d do “anything and everything, as much as possible…I had a serious problem.” Hmmm, “Anything and Everything” would be a great song title, actually…okay, we’ll stop.
While Monteith eventually reached sobriety and ventured into acting, the announced Glee graduation in the upcoming season might mean Cory’s Finn will be walking across the stage for his diploma/soulful group number on his way out of the series. Creator Ryan Murphy confirms the Glee spoiler rumors, explaining that some of the seniors will be drastically reduce their chances of being Slushied by entering the real world, saying “Which I find strange because I’ve been saying it for years. Maybe because the moment has come and people are like, “Wait! No!” Murphy also adds, however, “To that I would say there are some people who are not seniors and there are some people that are REALLY intellectually challenged. Like, you know that Britney is pulling straight Fs.” Get ready for Monteith’s big number, “F is for Forever.”
We can’t be sure, but it seems like Demi Lovato is experiencing all the big, difficult events that normally span a person’s entire life, only this time it’s been crammed into a sixth month period. Such is the life of a celebrity, apparently. On the heels of her own stay in a treatment center last December, Demi Lovato’s mom Dianna De La Garza entered rehab recently. “It has been a tough year for Demi, and her mom has been a constant source of support. But fame has also taken its toll on her family,”a source told The New York Post. “Now [that] Demi is strong again, her mom could take some time to deal with her own issues.” Reportedly Dianna is already out of rehab, suggesting that her treatment lasted approximately as long as it took for you to read this paragraph, or three years in Celebri-Time.
As if that wasn’t enough for a teenage pop star to deal with, reportedly Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama broke up recently as well; the two reportedly went out prior to Lovato’s stay in rehab, and were spotted out together as recently as February. Wow, Wilmer Valderrama. We haven’t heard his name a really long time, maybe nine months, which calculates out to…five thousand Famous People Years.

If it seems like just yesterday that Amy Winehouse entered rehab, that’s because it was almost just yesterday. Exactly a week ago the “Rehab” singer checked her self into a treatment facility, but as of today Amy Winehouse left rehab. Who knew that one extra week is all it would take? “[Amy] wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice,†her spokesperson Chris Goodman said at the time, claiming today that Grammy-winning Winehouse is now “raring to go” in preparation for her European tour this summer. Amy will continue to be an outpatient at the Priory Clinic, which seems like it will be difficult to do, considering she’ll be very busy barfing out a tour bus window in each of the European capitals.
Stay away, Bobby B! Reportedly Whitney Houston entered rehab ten days ago, though the voluntary out-patient program allows Houston to come and go as she pleases. The surprising part about TMZ’s report on Houston’s trip to rehab this morning (the only surprising part), was that Whitney wasn’t seeking treatment because she allegedly, as Katt Williams so eloquently put it, smoked her knee caps off for twenty years. “She’s cleansing herself to get ready for a new movie,” a source claimed earlier today. However, Houston’s rep Jill Fritzo now confirms that Whitney is seeking treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, saying in a statement, “We can confirm that Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment. Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.”
We thought the original story was a little fishy; we certainly don’t know any high-end spas that require you to be accompanied by a monitor when you aren’t getting a seaweed wrap. Given Whitney’s canceled concerts in 2010 and allegations of Bobby Kristina’s drug use earlier this year, we support Whitney seeking treatment, or preparing for a movie, for as long as she needs. After all, we’ve been waiting this long for Waiting To Exhale 2; we can certainly wait ninety days more.
