On Friday we reported about Brooke Mueller‘s drug-free pee search saga. She was ordered to get tested for substances to see if she was finally off them. Apparently, if Brooke refused the test, or if she tested positive for drugs, Charlie was going to fight for custody of their two kids, Max and Bob. There have been a couple of interesting developments since then. The first is that Brooke refused the test that was scheduled for Friday evening. Reports say it’s because she’s using again, with one story suggesting that Brooke was hunting for cocaine in the same neighborhood of the pawn shop, with a dealer called T-Mac alleging he, “… got in her ride, bent a corner, and I hooked her a— up with 8-ball for a buck fifty and told her if she liked it, to come see me again.”
Whether or not that particular story is true, Brooke is back in rehab. A source says that’s because the terms of the test didn’t seem fair, saying, “Brooke will not take a drug test until Charlie takes a drug test. Brooke will not go along with the agreement she and Charlie have in regards to testing until he stops talking about her in public. He’s been violating their agreement from day one and she’s had enough.” Either way, this does not bode well at all for her and her primary custody agreement because Charlie’s lawyers will go to court tomorrow to hash out the details. Does this mean that Brooke’s going to lose custody of the kids? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is currently receiving treatment at a mental health facility for Bipolar II Disorder. Apparently after the stress of the last year, especially with her husband,Michael Douglas, battling cancer, Catherine needed some help before going on to film two movies in the next few days. The support’s pouring in for her, especially from young Hollywood. Soon to take on her first post-rehab interview, Demi Lovato is in Catherine’s corner.
Considering both actresses willingly checked into centers, Demi’s probably feeling the older actress’ pain right about now. Lovato tweeted, “I don’t know Catherine Zeta-Jones personally but what she has decided to do it SO brave.. And SO difficult but worth it… I’m proud of her.” We think it’s really brave of both of them! Taking these decisions are never easy especially in the constant glare of the media (yes, we said it). We also think it’s pretty adorable of Demi to send such a sincere message out too.
Demi Lovato has been publicly battling her demons for a few months now, after going to rehab in December for “emotional and physical issues” that may have included an eating disorder and self-mutilation. Lovato willingly entered rehab after a fight with one of her backup dancers, Alex Welch. Since she was released, she has been remarkably private and vague about her future plans, despite the fact that her Disney Channel show Sonny With A Chance has been renamed and doesn’t include “Sonny,” her character, in the title anymore.
We can say for sure that one thing Lovato has committed to is her first interview since leaving rehab. It will be with Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts, who tweeted the news earlier today, writing “I told you that you guys would be the first to know… Demi Lovato intv with air on GMA and 20/20 on Friday April 22. More details to come.” Careful, Robin Roberts! You don’t want to ask any overly provocative questions of Lovato, we wouldn’t want her to go all Chris Brown on the GMA studio. And hopefully we’ll get the real scoop on what’s been going on with the teen star.
Luckily for our heroine, the Riverside County DA’s office has decided to drop all charges against Lindsay because they don’t have enough evidence against her in the Betty Ford case, so Lohan is in the clear. One courtroom drama down, who knows how many more to go.
Seann William Scott has checked himself voluntarily into a treatment facility for “health and personal issues”. The 34-year-old actor, best known for his role as Stifler in the American Pie series, has not divulged any other details on what those issues are, or what prompted him to take his decision. All we know is that he has confirmed the news and his spokesperson has stated, “Seann William Scott has voluntarily admitted himself for proactive treatment to address health and personal issues. He appreciates the support of his many fans at this time.” We wish him well, but have to admit, we’re pretty curious about why he’s in rehab in the first place.
For a public statement about the deepest, darkest fight of her life, Demi Lovato’s thank you video is remarkably vague about what that struggle even was. “The journey I have been on has been very very difficult,” Lovato acknowledges in the video released today. “I was dealing with issues that I know not only girls just my age but of all ages are dealing with…I hope to one day raise awareness of everything so that I can help people too, like you guys helped me through this rough time.” The actress seemingly refers to rumors that Lovato’s alleged eating disorder and self-harming influenced her decision to go into rehab. Even so, maybe we can narrow it down a little bit? From teething to the birth of our grandchildren, there are a lot of issues that “girls of all ages” might be dealing with.
The other more obvious reason for Lovato’s time in treatment, Demi’s brawl with back-up dancer Alex Welch never gets addressed in the video. Demi also doesn’t clear up any rumors about whether she’ll be returning to Sonny With A Chance or not, despite being the main character. “I’m excited to get back to work. I can’t wait to tell you guys what the future holds,” Lovato says, though the recent change of her show’s name to So Random makes us wonder what job Demi expects to go back to. Don’t get us wrong; we’re glad the girl is doing better. If we were her though, the next step on our recovery checklist would be to hire a new, way more specific speech writer.
In case you were wondering when Courteney Cox‘s husband went completely off the rails, the fact David Arquette started drinking at age four suggests it was before he could wear shoes without Velcro. “I had my first drink of beer, I must have been four years old,” an exhausted-looking Arquette explains in an interview with Oprah Winfrey today. “I was down in the basement with my dad, and beer was there, and I just grabbed it and drank it, and I remember that, it’s one of my earliest memories.” Yikes, at that rate David could have hit rock bottom at 13, gotten separated at 14 and completed rehab in time to get his learner’s permit.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t just booze that distracted David from the important things in life, like learning the alphabet. “I seriously started drinking probably when I was about twelve,” David admitted. “Kids are doing a lot of stuff very early. I stole pot from my dad when I was eight years old.” Despite what his many Howard Stern interviews might suggest, Arquette wants to save his marriage wife Courteney Cox, even in light of the harsh truths she revealed during his intervention at the hands of sister Patricia Arquette and friends. “I’m not attracted to you right now,” Cox reportedly told him. “She said, ‘I don’t want to be your mother anymore.’ I felt really sort of abandoned at that point,” David admitted. We guess when you’re tipsy during Show ‘N’ Tell, you don’t pick up on the finer points of relationship building. Here’s hoping Arquette can get a handle on his hard-partying ways, or else he is never going to get out of the Time Out Chair, i.e. the fold-out couch in Courteney’s guest house.
Now that Charlie Sheen is headed back to rehab after an epic decline, he’s decided to speak out. We fully expected a rant or a denial of his condition, as he’s normally done in the past. Color us surprised—this time he’s actually thanking people, and being polite. But being Charlie Sheen, there’s also an element of the bizarre in his statement. Charlie thinks he’s like Errol Flynn—old Hollywood’s original swashbuckler (and not to mention, sex symbol).
The statement reads, “I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have received from so many people. I want to say ‘thank-you’ to my fellow cast members, the crew of Two and a Half Men…And to my fans, your good wishes have touched me very much. Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down his sword on occasion, I just want to say, ‘thank-you.’”
Well, it’s a start for him at least, right? But Charlie should also know that Errol Flynn, after a lifetime of brawling, womanizing and alcoholism, died of a heart attack. Not exactly something to aspire to.
David had checked himself in to deal with “alcohol and other issues” post his marriage dissolving with Courteney Cox. His spokesperson says he’s back on track now, telling UsMagazine, “He has completed treatment and has left the facility.” A source added, “He is very committed to his sobriety and [is] a changed person because of his experience. He realizes now how out of control things got and doesn’t want that to happen again.” We hope so too, because David had become a complete loose cannon crying about Courteney, partying like it was going out of style and sleeping with Hollywood’s sloppy seconds (hi, Jasmine Waltz). We wish him luck.
