There’s good news and bad news. The good news is that it’s our first post of 2011! The bad news is that it’s about someone going to rehab. Any guesses who the celebrity is?
Hint: He was just spotted photo bombing four Oompah Loompahs right around New Years Eve. Yes, it’s a he, and that was just one of the signs that he needed to get to rehab. That male celebrity is… [Photo: Getty Images] Read more…
Move Lindsay Lohan wherever you want, but drama is going to find her. We already know Lindsay’s accused of criminal battery for pushing a Betty Ford Clinic worker, but that’s only the tip of the ice berg. According to TMZ, Dawn Holland filed a report that LiLo went loco after she was caught out after curfew. Holland says Lindsay “threw the phone…I threw up my left hand to block it and then she grabbed my right hand and tried to snatch the phone that I had up to my ear, then called me a ‘C –T B–H.” Holland’s been fired for talking about the alleged altercation to paparazzi, but responded, “The story was already way out there in the open before I spoke. If Lindsay is allowed to say, ‘Fire that b—,’ I should be able to defend myself.” Oddly enough, Holland was accused of assaulting her husband in 2008.
Though Holland’s insists that LiLo had been drinking because she could smell the booze of her breath, Lohan says Holland was physically abusive towards her, grabbing Lindsay’s arm and pushing her. In fact, Lindsay claims she wasn’t even partying with her roommates prior to the incident. Merely late from a hair appointment, Lindsay says she asked for a breathalyzer, but was refused by Holland. She also claims that there are witnesses and surveillance cameras that prove her story.
So who did it folks? Is Lindsay telling the truth? Who assaulted who? Was Lindsay really drinking again? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Now that she’s returning to the big leagues, we are finally finding out more about why Kirsten Dunst’s depression sent her to rehab in 2008. According to Kirsten, her new movie All Good Things co-starring Ryan Goslingwas shot right after her release from the Cirque Lodge rehabilitation center. “Katie [her character] had been torn down, and I know what it’s like to lose yourself, to no longer know the difference between right and wrong.” Explained Dunst, “I was ready to play something like that. I had been living life on the surface, emotionally, and I was feeling really vulnerable, so I was prepared to do anything at that point.” That’s a much better response to rehab than, say, immediately running over a baby stroller. So kudos to you, Kirsten!
Despite what we might remember about Dunst’s hard-partying days, the actress insists that her stay in rehab was strictly for her mental health, not to help her sober up. “When you’re a single girl in your twenties, yeah, you go out with your friends. And sometimes you drink too much. I don’t know anybody else, with any type of job, who doesn’t do that,” explained Dunst. Preach, sister! Rumors still swirled, however. “My friends and family were put in a position where they had to defend me, and it was an awful time,” said Kirsten. Personally, we love the movie Drop-Dead Gorgeous so much that Kirsten could stumble through All Good Things with a SCRAM bracelet strapped to her head and we’d still pay $12.50 to see it. That being said, it’s nice to see Kirsten back on top.
You may have noticed that Kirsten Dunst has kept a low profile for the past couple years, but she hasn’t tried to keep it a secret that she was in rehab. What we didn’t know about her rehab till now is that she was being treated for depression, not drug or alcohol addiction. Dunst spoke to New York Magazine and said that she burned out on Hollywood and needed a break – not surprising since she’s been working as an actress for over twenty years.
Dunst explained her retreat from the spotlight, saying “I think most people in their twenties go through some sort of depression,” and said that it was poor reviews of Marie Antoinette combined with too much solitude that made her snap. “I loved doing it, but it came with weird, hurtful criticism as well, and I took it to heart. Now I think I should have had a roommate. To be all the way alone, up there, in that house. But then I learned to be alone when I was very young.”
The actress is back on track these days with a new movie, All Good Things, co-starring Ryan Gosling, coming out this week and a new boyfriend, Rilo Kiley drummer Jason Boesel. As for feeling isolated, she’s given up her huge house and moved back in with her mother for now. Of course that doesn’t mean she’s reverting back to her childhood. Her “only” ambitions from now on are to have kids and become a director. Sounds like a plan.
Rehab (for the fifth time) might just be doing the trick. Lindsay Lohan apparently refused to take painkillers during a stint at the dentist for surgery this week. A source told RadarOnline that the starlet, “had teeth removed and won’t even take any painkillers for the pain.”
That’s commitment, guys. One visit to the dentist and we’re screaming for respite. But then again, we’re not in rehab for a supposed coke addiction. Lindsay of old would’ve bolted for some Dilaudid as she did a couple of months ago when she got her wisdom teeth removed. ‘The stronger the painkiller, the better’ was the motto. Not anymore, it seems! The source added, “She’s taking her time at Betty Ford very seriously.” We’re hoping that’s not a publicist’s schtick.
It’s been a good week (gnawing pain aside) for Lindsay, who just reunited with her father, Michael Lohan. There are plenty of folks who are going to say that the reunion and this no-painkillers story are both PR stunts. They might just be, but if they’re keeping her clean, who cares! Whatever it takes to get the job done. Five times in rehab at the age of 24 is enough!
Back in August, Dina Lohan spoke to Matt Lauer on The Today Show about her daughter Lindsay, and what occurred was nothing short of a sh*tshow. Dina was argumentative, claims she was ambushed, and dodged Lauer’s questions using some kind of Long Island double-talk language we’re not familiar with. There was definitely some tension between Lauer and Lohan, which is why it’s surprising that she appeared on the show again today to speak with him about the same exact things. There was still a lot of double-talk, but this time, Dina’s not in denial anymore that her daughter is an addict. Quite the opposite; Dina actually loves rehab so much she actually said she hoped Lindsay would open her own rehab facility.
Couple things though: Just two months ago, worst dad ever Michael Lohan said he wanted to open a spiritual rehab center, and then Lindsay and Michael reunited this weekend as part of her healing process. Could this family finally reunite with a common goal of helping others? Could Dina and Michael end their contentious relationship in order to heal their child and others? Doubtful! These are the Lohans we’re talking about. And besides, Lindsay has no plans to scrap her acting career. (This Linda Lovelace biopic isn’t going to wait around forever – except that it totally is, God, just recast it already.) On the other hand, no one ever imagined that First Lady Betty Ford would be synonymous with rehab, so who knows? Maybe the Lohan Family Treatment Center will be the first name in treating the damaged starlets of tomorrow.
What a curveball this turned out to be. This weekend, low-key re-habbed Lindsay Lohan went to the movies. Unfortunately, Lindsay at the movies isn’t going to go unnoticed, and had to leave when the crowds spotted her. What a non-story, right? Well, what happened the following day made up for it.
Lindsay met her father, Michael Lohan, the very next day. And no, he didn’t break into Betty Ford, where Lindsay’s recuperating. This wasn’t forced at all because the two apparently spent hours together! Excuse us while we say, WTF? Lindsay’s been blaming her Dad for all her problems for years now. Michael on the other hand, has been chasing her down, siccing the media on Lindsay and her mom Dina Lohan. Lindsay even once said, “I think my biggest focus for myself is learning how to continue to get through the trauma that my father has caused in my life.”
This didn’t seem like a love-hate relationship; just hate. And now it’s reunion time? Color us surprised. Sources told Radar Online, “It was an emotional reunion… there were hugs, kisses and even a few tears when Michael and Lindsay first saw each other.” They added, “Lindsay met Michael at Betty Ford and the pair spent hours together… it was not a fleeting encounter, this appeared well-planned in advance. They also went shopping at a local Palm Desert mall, where they were seen walking around together and at one point, were in a jewelry store.”
What’s even more shocking is that Michael Lohan didn’t blab about the occasion considering he always shoots his mouth off. His only response about the meeting was, “I have pledged not to comment about anything relating to my daughter. However, what I will say is that I am an incredibly proud father tonight. My daughter is progressing extraordinarily well.” That sounded… normal. Pigs have officially grown wings.
But here’s the deal? The Lohan family has always been in the news for the wrong reasons. Lindsay clearly is in trouble, and is whether she likes it or not, getting help. And Michael Lohan has always been…Michael. But maybe, just maybe, a blue moon’s peeking out from somewhere, and Lindsay finally got tired of blaming everyone else for her problems. And Michael has finally started giving his daughter what she really needs… a dad. Hey…we’re feeling charitable today! Just go with it!
We’re really feeling for Demi Lovato. Since the start of her rehab stint, so much disturbing information had been emerging ranging from her alleged cutting and eating disorder to her horrific experiences with bullying in middle school. And honestly, dealing with an ex-boyfriend is hard enough, but to go with him on tour and his new girlfriend? Super harsh!
People is reporting that Demi apparently got into a physical altercation with a female dancer, which was the motivation for her going to rehab. Their source explains, “As she did on most nights off, Demi invited her band, dancers and her parents to dinner. Afterward, she broke off with a very small group. When tour management found out about this, they talked to the people involved, including Demi. Demi reacted badly and perceived that someone on tour had told on her.” The story also reports that her stepdad, Eddie De La Garza, wasn’t too happy with the night’s events, because the Demi and her small entourage had been partying.
Our question is, what exactly did the partying involve? We’re not trying to imply anything here, but for someone to get pissed off because she was getting some downtime, sounds a little suspicious to us. The spy doesn’t really explain what the “very small group” got up to, and why her handlers got so pissed at the 18-year-old. And for her to then fly off the handle like that at the dancer (Demi felt that she had told on them), is again, kinda weird. So what actually went down that night to have invited such an adverse reaction?
He’s no Michael Lohan just yet, but alreadyDemi Lovato’s dad blames Hollywood for his daughter’s entrance into rehab. Says Patrick Lovato, “There are a lot of pressures. That is one of the things I worried about when she signed with Disney.” We’re inclined to agree with him. Girlfriend added “national teen star” to her plate when most kids her age only had to deal with stresses like “get learner’s permit” and “hide bra so friends don’t put it in the freezer.” And believe us, those were hard enough to deal with as it is!
Demi’s family’s dramatic influence, however, started even earlier than her contract with Mickey. Explained Patrick, “[Demi's mother] Dianne and I each played in a band and we toured all over the United States and Canada and our oldest daughter Dallas went with us and I could see then what the pressures would be like for a child on tour because it was hard on Dallas too.” Right, so then you…had your younger daughter start acting on Barney & Friends when she was seven? Lovato was quick to add: “She enjoyed it because we were always on the road and we had a nice bus and it wasn’t too bad but the hours were difficult.” Hmmm, sounds like Dina Lohan and Patrick would have plenty to talk about if they ever got together. Better not though; their combined stage parent power might rip a hole in the space-time continuum.
Pop Lovato could not confirm reports that his daughter had been bullied prior to her decision to enter rehab, explaining “It’s been a couple of months. I’ve had cancer, I’ve been in the hospital for two months and I just got out. She hasn’t visited, she’s been too busy, she’s been way too busy,” adding “She’ll be fine. She’s strong alright.” This story keeps getting sadder and sadder! Good luck to both Elder and Little Lovato, who we hope recovers quickly and enjoys a relaxing break from the career she’s had since the first grade. [Photo: Splash News Online]
Here’s a sentence we’d never thought we’d say:Demi Lovato is in rehab. Hold up… it’s not for drugs. The official statement reads, “Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time. Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that.” According to PeopleMagazine’s sources, Demi’s dealing with an eating disorder and cutting.
Things started getting a little strange over the weekend, when Demi vanished off Twitter (she even became a trending topic as a result of her departure). And now she’s dropped out of an international concert tour with the Jonas Brothers as well. Apparently, Demi’s fight with a female member of the tour is what eventually made her take the decision to admit herself. Props to her for dealing with her problems; we hope she gets the help she needs.
