We’re very sad to report that Cliff Robertson died on Saturday at the age of 88 just a day after his birthday. We knew him as the beloved Uncle Ben in Spiderman but his career spanned over six decades! He also won the Oscar for Best Actor in 1968 for his role in the film Charly. Cliff passed away in New York State of natural causes. We’re sending out our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

It is difficult to describe what Aaliyah meant to us back in 2001, when her life was tragically taken so abruptly on August 22. She was the epitome of understated cool, of raw talent mixed with genuine humility and effortless, chameleon-like style. She was both hard and soft, edgy and adorable, the it girl who wasn’t interested in wearing the crown. She was stunning, always, as evidenced in the red carpet pics below. But most importantly she was a massive musical talent who owned the industry during her short life. On the verge of a movie career, Aaliyah was posed for mega-mega-stardom when her plane crashed after taking of from the Bahamas, following the video shoot for her hit single “Rock the Boat.” There is no doubt that she lives on in legacy of performers — Beyonce, Gaga, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Katy — who have followed in her footsteps, mixing style with serious singing skills.
RIP, baby girl.
Check out 15 of Aaliyah’s most iconic looks, from the red carpet to the stage and everywhere in between, below.
This is truly a rough day for classic movie lovers. First we heard that Police Academy‘s Bubba Smith was found dead in his apartment, and now we have even more upsetting news to pass along to you. Annette Charles, the actress best known for playing Cha-Cha DiGregorio in Grease, has succumbed to cancer at the age of 63. Certainly y’all know Cha-Cha, the best dancer at St. Bernadette’s (although admittedly with the worst reputation). Her show-stopping dance sequence with Danny Zuko (a.k.a. John Travolta) was one of the highlights of the 1978 film.
“Annette had recently started having difficulty breathing, a family member told TMZ, “and when she went to the doctor she learned that she had a cancerous tumor in one of her lungs.” Apparently doctor’s caught the disease too late to prevent it from spreading. You and your insane dancing shoes will be missed, Annette. Let’s hoping she’s tearin’ it up at the big malt shop in the sky.
We’ve truly been sorry about reporting about Ryan Dunn‘s death. His body went for an autopsy this week to figure out whether or not he was driving under the influence when he crashed his Porsche 911, killing both himself and his passenger, Zachary Hartwell. Apparently, Ryan was driving at speeds between 132-140 MPH when the horrific accident happened.
Unfortunately, West Goshen’s, Pennsylvania (an area close to where the crash happened), Chief of Police Michael Carroll has revealed the results of Dunn’s toxicology report and it’s not good. Ryan’s blood alcohol levels were at an astounding .196. The legal limit in the state of Pennsylvania  is .08, which makes him approximately two-and-a-half times over. No other substances were found in his blood, though. And before people start talking about Roger Ebert was right about his  “drink and drive” tweet concerning Ryan, we agree about what he said. We just didn’t agree with how he said it.
Awww, our heart goes out to Amanda Bynes, who just lost her puppy Little Angel, a 4- month old teacup Pomeranian. She tweeted, “Sad day….Little Angel is in heaven now. RIP I love you.” It’s terrible when a pet dies! We don’t know what exactly happened, but Amanda worriedly tweeted yesterday, “Everyone: I have the worst news to tell you….little angel got out of my house somehow and is LOST…If anyone finds her I BEG you to please contact me thru twitter, I will give a reward. She means the WORLD to me & I can’t find her anywhere.”
She hasn’t said what happened to Little Angel, but the whole ordeal has obviously ended badly. This reminds us of when Jessica Simpson lost her Maltipoo, Daisy, to coyotes. Bad luck, Amanda.
Yesterday we posted the extremely sad news of Nate Dogg‘s death. His passing was met with a fair amount of shock because the entertainer was only 41 years old, and no details had emerged about what caused him to die. While the official cause hasn’t yet been stated, Nate’s family is speaking out about what the possible cause could be. His manager and close friend Rod McGrew said he was, “95% recovered from the first stroke in 2007.” Nate had suffered two strokes — one in 2007 and one in 2008 — which left him partial paralyzed and with memory loss. What’s confusing about this is that McGrew revealed that Nate had “cognitively recovered,” and was functioning and alert in the days leading up to his death.
Either way, McGrew’s given a statement on the family’s (and his) behalf that reads, “We appreciate the enormous outpouring of response from all over the world. We greatly appreciate that and thank everyone for their prayers and support. We know that Nate will be hanging out with his good friend 2Pac and Biggie.” Meanwhile, the music community are pouring in tributes and condolences for their friend.
• Snoop Dogg tweeted, “We lost a true legend n hip hop n rnb. One of my best friends n a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met.” And, “I love u buddy luv. U will always b wit me 4ever n a day u put the g n g funk u put the 1 n 213 n u put yo stamp on evrybdy u ever didit wit.”
• Ludacris tweeted, “RIP NATE DOGG!!!”

Rock author Neil Strauss is revealing some bizarre details about Courtney Love in his new book Everyone Loves You When You’re Dead. And as the name suggests, it’s pretty morbid. Strauss alleges that Love wanted to snort the ashes of her late husband Kurt Cobain, along with him. Uh, thanks, but no thanks.
The weird activity was apparently suggested when he was interviewing her, while she was fronting Hole. He says, “She was serious when she made the suggestion. She actually said she would offer his ashes to me first to snort and the said she would like them. But the idea was nixed as I don’t do coke”. The exchange is fleshed out in the book and states that it all went down in Love’s home in L.A where she showed him a a tin which contained a plastic bag full of ashes and said, “Say hi to Kurt”. She also supposedly added, “Too bad you don’t do coke. Otherwise I’d suggest taking a metal straw to it”, to which he responded, “Yeah, I don’t think that would be the right thing to do”. Strauss then writes that her reply was, “I’d like to though”. Okay, we don’t know what to say to that. It’s just too creepy for us. So we’re just going to stick with R.I.P Kurt!

Very sad news to report. TMZ is reporting that Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, or Nate Dogg as he was better known, has passed away. The hip-hop star was only 41 years old, and our condolences go out to his family and friends. Nate had a lot of serious health concerns in the last couple of years which included strokes in 2007 and 2008.
Considering he collaborated with everyone from Snoop Dogg to Warren G, this is going to hit a lot of entertainers hard. Celebrities have already started reacting to the news. Dave Chappelle just tweeted, “Moment of silence for a hip-hop legend; RIP Nate Dogg. You will be missed, G Funk Era forever.”

Sad news to report. Season three Celebrity Rehab alum, and former Alice in Chains bassist, Mike Starr was found dead in Salt Lake City, Utah. The cause of death is yet unknown, but police were called to the home where he was found at 1:42 pm yesterday. Our condolences to his family, who are obviously reeling from the news. Starr’s father told TMZ, “It’s a terrible shock and tragedy”.
Starr was arrested in 2009 in L.A for a felony narcotics charge which wasn’t the first time he was in trouble with the law, having being booked before on various counts of drug possession, reckless driving, and driving under the influence. He was also arrested last month for carrying six opana and six alprazalam tablets for which he did not have a prescription.

Two familiar faces were missing on Sunday night at the Golden Globes. Unfortunately the reason they were MIA was because of a family tragedy. Bradley Cooper‘s father, Charles, passed away, at the age of 71, after a long illness. Brad’s girlfriend Renee Zellweger also missed the ceremony so that she could be with Brad and his family. Our condolences go out to them.
This has been a pretty horrible week for the couple. A fire broke out at Bradley’s mother’s Philadelphia house on Sunday night. The actor and Zellweger were at the house with family members, apparently. An official reveals, “It was not a very major fire. We didn’t have to use hoses. It was out within a few minutes. Pretty much the fireplace got a little out of control.” No one was hurt fortunately, but adding to the tragedy of losing his father, this must have been pretty traumatic.
