Miley Cyrus took a short break from posing with Arizona Iced Tea cans in dangerously close proximity to her hoohah to be the host and musical guest of Saturday Night Live last night. She did not, as forecasted, use the opportunity to take any pot shots at Sinead O’Connor, but she DID dress up as crazy eyed Michele Bachman and twerked while singing about the government shutdown, though!

Saturday Night Live returned last night for its 39th season premiere. Tina Fey was the host. Arcade Fire was the musical guest. There were six, yes SIX, new cast members. When Saturday Night Live launches its 39th season tonight with host Tina Fey and musical guest Arcade Fire, viewers who haven’t been paying attention to the trades over the summer will notice that a few familiar faces are no longer treading the boards of Studio 8H; longtime (and very popular!) castmembers Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis have all exited the cast* for purportedly greener pastures. Taking their place are six new faces, making it the biggest cast transition since 1995. So, who exactly are these new featured players? Find out all about them in our gallery above!
Sometimes we use our headlines to tease you and you have to read the whole story to find out what we’re talking about, but not here, not now. This may have been our favorite Spreecast moment ever.
What will we do about Syria? How can we prevent another government shut down? Will Blue Ivy get a little brother or sister soon? OK, maybe Jay Pharoah won’t be able to answer for Hov and the president for real, but that won’t stop us from asking him when the Saturday Night Live star stops by our Very VH1 Spreecast today at 1 pm ET.
