Wedding bells might be in the future for Jordin Sparks! The lovely American Idol alum spoke to Us Weekly on the red carpet of the City Of Hope Honors on Wednesday, and admitted that she and boyfriend Jason Derulo have already discussed marriage. It’s been a rough year for the two love birds; Jordin had to cope with the loss of her friend and Sparkle co-star Whitney Houston, and Jason broke his neck during a freak dancing accident! But they’ve found strength in each other, and are starting to talk taking things to the next level.
“It’s not a conversation that we’re scared about,” Sparks told the magazine. “Before, we both went through tragedies this year. He broke his neck and then Whitney passed. So before it might have been a little too crazy.” All of the hardships not only brought them closer together, but made them realize what really matters in life. “You really see the people you love and you go ‘I don’t want to lose you,’ ” she continued. “So it’s a conversation we have, but we’re not in a rush.” Although she admitted that she “hopes” he does eventually get down on one knee. And so do we! Although they’ve barely been together for over a year, the sweetness between these two is undeniable. Check out some of their cutest moments in the gallery below!

For a while now, we’ve been thinking of Sparkle as “the movie that makes us really sad about Whitney Houston.” We probably weren’t alone, which is why the release of Jordin Sparks’ video for the soundtrack single “Celebrate” was a brilliant move. The movie pays touching homage to Whitney, who plays mother to a 1960s girl group, while also urging us to brush off those sad feelings and get up and dance. By the end, we not only want to go out and see the movie, starring Sparks, Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter, we want to go shopping and buy all of their dresses first. The video intercuts scenes from the movie with new scenes in which the girls, plus co-stars Mike Epps, Omari Hardwick, Derek Luke and a few others, party in updated but vintage-inspired dresses and suits.
Sparks is flirty and fun in the orange cocktail dress above (with Derek Luke as the perfect accessory!). We love the modern cut mixed with that mod-’60s tailoring and bow in the back.
This animal-print, pleated dress shows off Jordin’s super-svelt figure. Its the most contemporary of the bunch but mixes nicely with the other pieces.
Whitney Houston might be rocking curlers, a house coat and the role of sensible wet blanket mom to Jordin Sparks‘ budding singer, but Houston still manages to steal the show in the new Sparkle trailer, which premiered this morning on the Today show. After a 16-year absence from the big screen, we almost forgot what a natural Whitney was. Also, that house coat is kind of fabulous. We are all about the mint green!
As gorgeous as Whitney looks and as angelic as she sounds (because you know they weren’t about to release a trailer that didn’t highlight that voice), it’s sort of shocking how certain themes in the movie seem to parallel Houston’s real life. Guess she wanted it that way? Set to be released August 17, Sparkle is, according to IMDB, about “Three sisters [who] form a successful singing group and must deal with the fallout of fame and drugs.” As Houston’s world-weary Emma warns her talented daughters in the trailer, “Was my life not enough of a cautionary tale to you?” Wow. As if we didn’t want Whitney Houston to name us “Sparkle” and warn us not to have kids out of wedlock already! We already know our cheeks are going to be as damp as Cee-Lo Green‘s when we see this movie, thought ours will be from tears.
