Most times it’s just awkward and you have to pretend the next bus stop is yours, but it looks Alabama QB AJ McCarron‘s girlfriend Katherine Webb is the exception to the rule. After ESPN commentator Brent Musburger swooned over the former Miss Alabama’s striking good looks during the BCS Title game, Webb will be posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this February. Ugh, wait until Brent finds out. Now he’ll never stop pointing out pretty women!

Although she was named Rookie of the Year in last year’s issue, there was some question as to whether Kate would make the front page. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Model Kate Upton Wants To Be “On The Coffee Table”

Note to American parents, if you want your children to be competitive with in the world 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model Kate Upton may have a lesson for you. After being the magazine’s Rookie of the Year in 2011, the 19-year-old beat all those gorgeous foreigners to take the cover, which hits newsstands today. In her video profile on SI.com, as she poses seductively in the sand, she tells us in voice-over how she got there: “If I got the cover, I would be so excited. It’s always what I talked about. I grew up in an American family, it always was on the coffee table. And to be that girl on the magazine on the coffee table would be really groundbreaking for me.”

Um, so yeah, America. Leave copies of magazines featuring scantily clad ladies around the house, and your daughters will grow up to be supermodels who may or may not be dating New York Jets quarterbacks. (Thanks a lot, Mom and Dad, for leaving The New Yorker and National Geographic around our living room. Geez.)

Should Kate Upton Be The Next Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Girl?

She was named Sports Illustrated’s Rookie of the Year in last year’s esteemed swimsuit issue, and now it looks like mega-hottie Kate Upton may be their MVP. Despite only being 19, the Victoria’s Secret Angel is reportedly leading the race to be this year’s SI swimsuit cover girl! The cover is to be unveiled this Monday on the David Letterman Show, but Kate isn’t spilling the beans just yet. “All I can really say is that I’m in the issue,” she told Page Six Magazine. “Fingers crossed!”

Other contenders for the honor include Chrissy Teigen, who is engaged to John Legend, and Adam Levine’s GF Anne V. “There’s no clear front-runner” an SI insider told Page Six. “There’s a lot of talk about Kate in general…It really comes down to the best picture wins.” Would you like to see Kate grace the cover of the mag? If this video of Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton doing the Dougie at a Clippers game last weekend had been around at the beginning of our March Celebrity Madness poll last month, she may well have beaten this year’s cover girl Irina Shayk…and given winner Chris Colfer a run for his money. While some might critique the quality of her Dougie in the above clip, it was certainly worth the attempt: she’s a lock to score next year’s SI swimsuit issue cover, unless some other aspiring model finds another dance to go viral with.

Which Lucky Lady Will Land On The Cover Of The 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue?

While the 2011 Oscars won’t be held for another few weeks, tomorrow is the day that’s known in supermodel circles as the “Bikini Oscars.” Yes, that’s right, the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue hits newsstands tomorrow, marking a day that is loathed by shrewish librarians, dreaded by cashiers at drugstores nationwide, and revered by horny dudes the world over.

Sure, the widespread prevalence of internet porn has stolen some of the luster away from what used to be regarded as the Fourth of July for masturbators, but that doesn’t mean that Sports Illustrated has lost its power to turn famous, barely clothed supermodels into slightly MORE famous, barely clothed supermodels. Take, for instance, Brooklyn Decker, who went from being a really hot bikini model in print magazines to being a really hot bikini model in major motion pictures after she landed the cover last year! If that isn’t proof positive that landing the cover of of the Swimsuit Issue can change a gorgeous young woman’s life, I don’t know what is.
