Teen Wolf’s Tyler Posey is downright charming both on-screen and off, as we learned while chatting him up on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet last night. We inquired about his most regrettable moment from the teen years – since, ya know – that’s kind of the theme of both the awards and his TV show on MTV. Turns out Tyler regrets nothing – though he did pause to look back on one moment with a bit of…thoughtful hindsight.
“I don’t really regret anything,” says Tyler. “I try not to. I don’t regret this, but I was 12 years old and I gave myself my first tattoo with a needle and ink. I would always scratch designs on my skin and rub ink on it when I was like 12.”
Tyler then went into great detail explaining how he sterilized a needle to really commit to inking himself, and accidentally marked himself with soot instead of ink. True story. “I think I’m okay, it’s been there for ten years. I’m still here,” he joked. We’re just glad he survived! And kids – definitely don’t try this at home.
By now we’re sure you’ve drooled over the Teen Choice Awards‘ Best Dressed, winced at the Worst, agreed or disagreed with our dream Anastasia Steele, and got the low-down on Beautiful Creatures from actress Camille Balsamo. Now it’s time to sit back, nosh on some dinner and be hypnotized by Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey doing a twist of sorts, Stephen “Twitch” Boss moving like the pro that he is, Carly Rae Jepsen being downright adorable and many other TCA attendees getting silly with us. Warning: GIF wall ahead!
While Twilight and The Hunger Games were sweeping up all kinds of surfboards at last night’s Teen Choice Awards, there was at least actress in the audience wondering if she’ll be getting up on that stage next year as part of another great young-adult-novel-turned-movie franchise. Well, we’re assuming as much. When we caught up with Beautiful Creatures co-star Camille Balsamo she was super excited about the movie, which they just finished shooting in New Orleans. Based on Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl‘s four book series, it’s about a boy named Ethan whose life in his boring, Civil War-obsessed town is turned upside down when he meets a mysterious girl named Lena — and he quite literally can’t get her out of his head. She and her family are Casters, people who wield all sorts of magical powers, and not necessarily for good. So will fans of the engrossing books be satisfied with the movie?
“I think they’ll especially love the casting,” Balsamo, who plays Katherine Duchannes, told VH1. “I read the book and I think that the casting is perfect. I think everybody fits their characters to a T and I think they won’t be disappointed.”
Camille pretty much nailed exactly why Beautiful Creatures has a shot at taking their place next to Twilight, Harry Potter and Hunger Games in our hearts. “I think that so many teenagers can relate to what Lena and Ethan are going through, and even though I’m not a teenager anymore, I still could feel what they were feeling, and I think that’s an incredible thing that the book has to offer.”
Now, to soften the blow of listing some of our faves among the worst-dressed at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, we present to you our best-dressed list — which, thankfully, contains a couple of people who were also on the previous list: Demi Lovato and Jordin Sparks. It also has 10 more names than the worst, because overall, it was a night in which we wanted to see risks being taken, and they often paid off on the pink carpet — even if they wouldn’t have anywhere else. TV stars such as Lucy Hale, Candice Accola, Shay Mitchell and Ashley Rickards were stunning in super-bright colors. Others, like Zoe Saldana and Lea Michele, won with adorable cuts. And then, of course, Kristen Stewart was in a category all her own, in a decidedly unsummery leather-pants-and-blazer combo. (Oh, and by the way, we totally recognize why some are criticizing Demi for showing a whole lot of side-boob in her yellow showgirly dress — but since that showed up in arrival photos but never on our TV screens, we think everyone should just simma.)

The timing and mood of the Teen Choice Awards make the show a great place to see young Hollywood and music stars show off their relaxed, beachy best. Unfortunately, it seems like too many of these stars seem to think it’s a good time to give their stylists the day off and get a little TOO relaxed. A lot of the celebs you’ll see in the gallery below are not offensively dressed, necessarily. It’s just that we wish Selena Gomez, Nikki Reed, Darren Criss and the like would have taken bigger risks and had more fun with their outfits. Others, especially lesser known stars like Crystal Reed or frequent risk-takers like TCA co-hosts Kevin McHale and Demi Lovato, took their risks a little too far. We don’t want to punish you for trying, guys. It’s just that someone had to make this list.

There’s just something about Troian Bellisario that screams Anastasia Steele to us. Perhaps it’s her lovely dark hair and pale skin, or maybe it’s her confident yet vulnerable turn as Spencer Hastings on Pretty Little Liars. Yep, she’s got Fifty Shades of something about her, and we’re hoping E.L. James is noticing – because Troian is a huge Fifty Shades of Grey fan. She shared her love for the series with VH1 at the Teen Choice Awards. When we revealed that she topped the list of our dream cast, Bellisario sweetly responded, “That just makes my heart sing.”
As for the possibility of playing the infamous Seattle submissive? Troian says she’s all for it. “I think it would be something terrifying but if you’re not doing terrifying things every day, you’re not living, so I would love to do that.”
Now we just need to find her the perfect Christian. Any takers, gentlemen actors of Hollywood?
I don’t know if it was when we saw that Ellen DeGeneres‘ best guests ever Sophia Grace and Rosie were in the audience, or when Kevin McHale and Demi Lovato started sharing embarrassing bits (boy band footage and stage pics!) about each other’s early years as child stars in Dallas, but you could tell early on that the 2012 Teen Choice Awards was going to be full of cuteness. Here are our favorite adorable moments from the show. Let us know yours in the comments!
“This is the best thing that’s ever happened!” Sophia Grace squealed as she and Rosie received miniature surfboards for Choice Web Star. She is the best thing that’s ever happened, actually.
The surfboards were being handed out at seemingly record speed at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night. Without a DVR, we’d hardly have been able to catch the many awards picked up by Justin Bieber, The Vampire Diaries crew or, of course The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Even so, a bunch of awards on the nominations list weren’t even mentioned (sorry Summer TV Show and Male Country Artist!). We’ll try to come back and update this list when all of those poor, neglected winners are announced.

You know what’s great about informal awards shows like the Teen Choice Awards? They have complete freedom to make up categories as they go along, thus ensuring that the hottest, most fan-favoritest stars of the moment will show up and take home some hardware. And no one will complain, ever. Especially as we look at the “second round” of nominees for the TCAs, which take place July 22. You can go here to see the complete list. But we’ll give you the highlights you care about most:
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 now has 11 nods, including the Choice Movie: Romance, Actor and Actress: Romance (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who already have nods for Sci Fi/Fantasy), Liplock, and Scene Stealer: Male (Kellan Lutz) and Female (Nikki Reed).
The Vampire Diaries‘ count is up to eight, with Villain (Joseph Morgan), and Male and Female Scene Stealers (Candice Accola and Michael Trevino).
And, in keeping with the zeitgeist of the year, the TCAs are shaping up to be one long celebration of Channing Tatum. He’s got six nominations to his name. In addition to his previously announced nods for Movie Actor: Drama (for The Vow) and Movie Actor: Comedy (for 21 Jump Street), he’s also now nominated for Movie Actor: Romance (The Vow again), Liplock (The Vow, with Rachel McAdams), Chemistry and Hissy Fit (for 21 Jump Street, with Jonah Hill).
The biggest question now: Will a third round of nominations include a category for Best Male Stripper Movie? Oh, wait. Is that weird when we’re talking about “Teen” choice? Sorry.
