Shailene Woodley In “Early Talks” For The Role Of Mary Jane Parker In The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Shailene Woodley In Early Talks For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Did anyone else think it was kind of cool and ironic that The Amazing Spider-Man was directed by someone called Marc Webb? Webb? Seriously? We’d hire him just for that name. But we digress from the main point of this story. We’ve been wholly attached to the pairing of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as Peter Parker-but-I’m-really-Spidey and Gwen Stacy. To be honest, we’re quite happy with the fact that Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man series (it was a trilogy) with Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco was canned. It didn’t resonate it with us as much as Garfield and Stone’s new take did. C’mon, we even grew to love Emma as a blond, and we know she was just born to be a red-head! Now, we’re at the point where The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is being cast, and while we know that both Garfield and Stone are are reprising their roles as Spidey and Gwen, respectively, the rest of the cast needs to be locked down. Variety reports that one big role is close to being filled — Mary Jane Watson’s. Sony is in early talks with Shailene Woodley for the role and apparently, she’s their top choice at the moment. Production will start early next year, so things may change until then, but for now we’re going to follow the trail and see if Woodley’s discussions with the studio translate into something concrete. But more importantly, do you think this is a good casting decision? Would Shailene make a good Mary Jane? Besides, matching up to Garfield and Stone’s chemistry is going to be very tough, so we’re wondering if she’ll be able to take on the task.

So, About Josh Hutcherson’s Spider-Man Audition Tape…Too Soon For A Reboot?

Okay, for the next Spider-Man reboot, it’s all Donald Glover. We haven’t forgotten you, dude! The reboot after that, however, should star Josh Hutcherson, who clearly demonstrates that he has all the web-slinging, book-dropping, meathead-pummeling moves in his Spider-Man audition tape. On an unrelated note, if you see a guy throw your friend to the ground, jump twelve feet into the air and then backflip into a three-point stance…maybe you shouldn’t keep trying to fight him? I know bullies aren’t the brightest bulbs in the package, but jeez. On a very related note, those glasses! Eeeeee! Alternate film casting history squee!

Unearthed from the bowels of YouTube by Crushable today, Hutcherson’s fighting demo for the film appears to be dated March 8, 2010. Which means if we got a time machine and traveled back with a DVD of the Hunger Games…no, that wouldn’t be right. Andrew Garfield ended up doing an amazing job with the role; we just need to make more Amazing Spider-Mans to accommodate all the actors we want to see fighting bad guys and kissing upside-down. We mean, they were probably going to reboot it that many times anyway! Amazing Spider-Mans for everyone! On, and in case we didn’t make it clear…those glasses!

Exclusive: Andrew Garfield Wants To “Cry” With Happiness Over Spider-Man Role

Awww, isn’t Andrew Garfield just the sweetest? When he rolled up to our group of reporters on The Amazing Spider-Man red carpet for questions, he teased us and asked if we were going to take what he said out of context. Then I made some weird joke about how I was only going to ask him about hanging out with Robert Pattinson, and he laughed. Yes, sometimes you can do really awkward and silly bits with celebrities on the red carpet. In the few minutes we chatted I found the guy incredibly humble and charming, and he gave an equally adorable answer to my question about how 8-year-old Andrew might react to knowing he’d one day play Spider-man. “What a sweet question,” he replied. “He would dismiss it and be like, ‘No, I don’t think so.'”

Adds the actor, “And if he was here? Well, he is here, really, ‘cuz he’s still alive in me. And that part of me really wants to cry.”

And that was when I melted into a pile of goo on the red carpet. You can check out Andrew answering my question and talking to some other reporters in the clip above. The Amazing Spider-Man opens July 3; I was lucky enough to go to the premiere and enjoyed every second of it. Emma Stone is confident and likable as Gwen Stacey, Rhys Ifans is an empathetic villain, and Andrew, well — the actor is magnetic onscreen. It’s impossible to take your eyes off of him, and I left with one thought: Hhe’s going to win an Oscar someday.

Andrew Garfield Makes Our Ovaries Explode At The Amazing Spider-Man Volunteer Event

Andrew Garfield, "Be Amazing, Stand Up And Volunteer"

You know, we realized that we were ignoring the awesomeness that is Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-man lead-up. We focused on the whole of Emma Stone‘s global fashion run with the premieres but there was nary a peep from the main man. Well, that ends today. The whole cast of the movie made it to the “Be Amazing, Stand Up and Volunteer” initiative at the Madison Boys and Girls Club yesterday in Brooklyn, New York, which was one of many events, sponsored by Columbia, that happened throughout the city. The cast was there to teach the kids the importance of volunteering. While that in itself is so cool, we’d like to focus a little bit on Andrew here. Look at those photographs of him above, swinging around and cuddling that little girl? Cue ovary explosion. There’s more after the jump that made us swoon. Read more…

15 Outfits, One World Tour: We Rank All Of Emma Stone’s The Amazing Spider-Man Premiere Looks

Emma Stone 'The Amazing Spider-Man' premiere outfit rankings

Emma Stone traveled from New York, to Tokyo, to Seoul, to Moscow, to Madrid and more with the traveling circus that was The Amazing Spider-Man promotional tour. Filled with premieres and photo calls in every country, Emma had to have solid outfit schedule planned. We were so excited about that because she’s our favorite sartorial star — always taking risks. Sometimes, those risks don’t pay off, but we love her for trying. This Spidey circuit had some really huge fashion moments for her, but also some fizzles. We’ve ranked all of her 15 ensembles in order of preference, so sit back and start clicking. We got all the deets, starting with number one — our favorite — to number 15, which is our least impressive pick.

1. Press conference, Tokyo
Emma attended the press conference for the film at the Ritz Carlton on June 13 dressed in this incredible, fitted Rue du Mail Fall 2012 dress. Emma accessorized with Cartier jewels and Ferragamo black-and-white houndstooth-print heels which we’re now dying to own.

2. Premiere, Paris
Wow — check out the Gothic plum lipstick! Emma works it in a sexy, gauzy Gucci Fall 2012 gown at the Paris premiere at Le Grand Rex on June 19. She accessorized with Repossi jewelry, a Cartier clutch and Christian Louboutin heels.

3. Premiere, Rome
The premiere was in Rome on June 22, and Emma stunned in this glamorous Bottega Veneta Fall 2012 gown. It’s not an easy one to pull off with the peplum waist, waistband and glimmering fabric. The hair quiff pulls it all together, along with the Christian LouboutinPigalle”  heels and Tiffany & Co. jewels.

4. Photo call, Moscow
Emma was in Moscow on June 15 and wowed everyone in this summery, yellow, hand-painted Lanvin dress. She also wore  Nikki Baker earrings and Dalla Nonna rings with black Brian Atwood peep-toes that matched the detailing of the dress.

5. Premiere, Moscow
Her Moscow promotions were a huge fashion hit. While her Lanvin worn during the photo call earlier this day (June 15) was mega, her premiere outfit, worn to the Oktyabr Cinema was no less. Emma was so elegant in her semi-sheer, sky blue, crossover-bodice Emilio Pucci Fall 2012 dress. She styled the ensemble with nude nude Louboutin pumps, Dana Rebecca Designs earrings and a Jennifer Behr delicate gold laurel leaf bandeaux hairband.

Emma Stone’s Far East Fashion Fails!

Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Amazing Spiderman, Japan, Korea

This post actually physically hurts us because we so love Emma Stone. She’s also like, our beacon of sartorial, sassy, sweet Mother of God she’s awesome hope when it comes to red carpets, interviews, and basically life itself. So when we saw the dress she wore to the premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man in Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, we wanted to sit down and cry. It’s the one on the right. Why would she wear this brown Rochas? It looks totally baggy and shapeless. At least her face looks flawless, but what’s up with the doublet and hose kind of skirt?  We love the fact that Andrew Garfield still looks like a smitten kitten, as you can see in the photographs below. More important, you’ll also be able to see the only totally cute part of that outfit — her Louboutin heels!

Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Amazing Spiderman, Japan, Korea

The main photograph up top also shows what Emma wore today in Korea for the press conference of the movie. Thoughts? We love the red heels, because we mostly always love red heels, but are not big fans at all of the turquoise necklace — or is it a beaded neckline? — with the striped mustard and black top and black high-waisted skirt. We want more color! We want more of the usual Emma awesomeness! This is obviously just a temporary glitch.

Did Emma Stone And Andrew Garfield Fill Robsten’s Cute Couple Vacuum At The MTV Movie Awards?

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone YOLO Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield onstage

We long ago established that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are ridonkulously cute together. I mean, on their own, we always wanted to be BFFs with each of them, so together, they’re a nuclear fusion of sweet, funny and awesome. That cute was fully on display at last night’s MTV Movie Awards, where Robert Pattinson‘s absence left a big vacancy in the GIF-able couple category. From the moment the Amazing Spider-Man co-stars arrived on the red carpet, they were making us squee. Just take a look at their interview with Kat Graham during the Pre-Show, which began with Andrew hiding behind Emma. When Kat, on duty as MTV’s style correspondent, asked Emma a question about her makeup, she started to answer, and then turned to BF Andrew mid-sentence and said, “You don’t have to be here for this!” “I do!” he protested, and proceeded to look very interested in Emma’s answer. Only boys in the early stages of love can look so absolutely absorbed in such things.

From Spidey And Gwen To The Savages’ Love Triangle: Who’s This Summer’s Hottest Onscreen Romance?

Sure, we’re into weepy deathbed monologues, blood-squirting massacres and the occasional merman scene or two (#CabinInTheWoods4ever), but what we really love to see on the big screen is, well, love. Lucky for us, the summer movie season is always packed with romance, whether it be of the action or indie variety. Not that we’re picky — we eat it all up, thank you very much.

This summer’s crop of movies offers up a buffet of romantic relationships sure to suit even the most critical of tastes. At the core of The Amazing Spider-Man is the romance between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, played by real-life loves Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. And of course what would a comedy about rippling male strippers (Magic Mike) be without a love story between the beefy protagonist (Channing Tatum) and his protegee’s sister (newcomer Cody Horn)?

View Photo Gallery

But equally intriguing are the more unconventional relationships coming to the big screen as the weather warms up. Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg play that perfect couple everyone loves in Celeste & Jesse Forever, who shock their friends when they decide to divorce. In Savages, Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson play two dudes who band together to rescue their kidnapped girlfriend (Blake Lively). That’s right – they both date her. But the onscreen pairing we’re most pumped for? Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward in Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom, in which they play two tweens who fall in love and plot – and execute – their escape from their small New England town.

There’s movie love for everyone out there, so what’s your favorite onscreen pairing this season? Poll it up below!

New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer: Andrew Garfield’s Bid To Win Our Summer Movie Heroes Poll?

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man

We’re pretty sure the release of the brand-new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has nothing at all to do with the fact that The Avengers is in theaters today, getting summer movie season off to a running start. It was almost certainly released because the folks at Marvel realized that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are getting their butts whipped in our Summer Movie Preview Heroes and Heroines polls. These things matter, people. Well, they certainly matter to the Taylor Kitsch and Colin Farrell fans who have been voting nonstop since Tuesday.

All kidding aside, this new trailer does a long way toward making us stop thinking of The Amazing Spider-Man as its own story, not just “that movie that isn’t the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire Spider-Man.” It has a fair share of action sequences, but the majority of the dialogue is about Peter Parker’s quest to find out more about what happened to his parents. We dare you to count how many times they say “Peter” in less that 2 and a half minutes. And just like in the last trailer, it makes abundantly clear why Andrew and Emma hooked up on the set. We can feel the sexual tension from our desks. So now, after watching this, do you want to head over to the poll and give that lovely Brit a few more clicks?
