Hollywood is crossing its fingers that you will want to see Disney’s Snow White remake, despite the fact that their film, The Order of the Seven, is the third movie currently in production that’s based on the classic fairy tale. As if Cinderella or Ariel couldn’t wield a sword! Please. Based on the “dark, edgy” description, the film sounds more similar to Kristen Stewart’s Snow White, complete with badass armor and weaponry, than to Lily Collins‘ more traditional princess. In fact, Seven reimagines the fable as a sweeping action epic set in China. What, so now we’re not going to get those half-dozen Mulan remakes we wanted? Pull it together, filmmakers!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney’s movie primarily revolves around the story of the dwarves, who in this version are “a 19th century-set disparate band of international warriors belonging to a centuries-old order who have lost their way. Their meeting with an Englishwoman being chased by an ancient evil is the catalyst for their redemption.” So e can all look forward to fewer baby deer scampering around, way more witches being hurled off of cliffs.
Lily Collins is one of the biggest, brightest and most beautiful up and coming stars in Hollywood these days. She’s got a gajillion giant films on the horizon, with Abduction dropping this fall followed by The Brothers Grimm: Snow White and the YA franchise The Mortal Instruments. She’s also delightful, down to earth and cute to boot. Check out our interview with Lily in which she dishes on competing with Kristen Stewart and lessons learned from co-star Taylor Lautner.
Lily’s red carpet look is youthful and fun, with a large dose of glam mixed in. Peep the actress’ 20 Hottest Looks in our gallery below!
There are going to be severed dwarf limbs littering the forest if the dueling Snow White movies get their way. Days after Universal scheduled Snow White and the Huntsman to open weeks before Relativity Media’s Brothers Grimm: Snow White hit theaters, Relativity has scooted their take on the fairy tale up to March 16, 2012. So this must be what it feels like to hold a poison apple in your evil sorceress hand. Metaphorically speaking.
Not that Snow White and the Huntsman should climb into the glass coffin just yet; the films aren’t even really vying for the same audience. While the Lily Collin’s Brothers Grimm: Snow White film is an action comedy co-starring Armie Hammer and a gang of warrior dwarves, Kristen Stewart’s Snow White and the Huntsmanis a dark take on the classic tale. Which one will be better? Check in next week, when the competing studios will most likely release both of them in fairy tale film battle to the death.
We chatted with the lovely Lily Collins this week as she hit up VH1 offices promoting her new movie Priest. We’re super excited for all of the movies she has coming down the pipeline too — Abduction with rumored boyfriend Taylor Lautner, The Mortal Instruments series, and of course – The Brother’s Grimm: Snow White. The film has some competition—Kristen Stewart‘s starring in Snow White and the Huntsman alongside Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin and possibly Chris Hemsworth (fingers crossed). We asked the actress how it feels to be working on one of the two Snow White flicks—check out her answer above.
Lily Collins is known for her famous relationships. First, there’s the fact that she’s musician Phil Collins daughter. She also happens to be dating Taylor Lautner. And now she’s going to be known as the woman who lives with seven tiny little men, because Collins just nabbed the role of Snow White in the live-action, Brothers Grimm version of the film that starts production soon. Collins was up against Saoirse Ronan and it was announced Friday that she was picked for the role of the poisoned princess.
Armie Hammer and Julia Roberts are already set to star as the Prince and the Evil Queen, respectively, in this version of the tale. It’s hard to keep them all straight, since there are also two more Snow White films in development, with Kristen Stewart playing the title role in Snow White And The Huntsman and Natalie Portman reportedly starring in Snow And The Seven. Despite the competing projects, that’s some pretty nice company that Collins is in.
Saoirse Ronan is apparently thisclose to landing the role of Snow White in the film The Brothers Grimm: Snow White.Armie Hammer (love him) and Julia Robertsare set to co-star as the Prince and Evil Queen, respectively. The Oscar-nominated Saoirse is one of the biggest of the big right now – she was considered for The Hunger Games and is also in talks to star in The Hobbit. Did we mention her new movie Hanna opens next month? Fire, she is on you.
This puts Ronan in direct competition with another in-demand young actress,Kristen Stewart, who is starring as Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman. Charlize Theron is attached to play the Evil Queen, while the search continues for the Huntsman after Viggo Mortensen left the project this week. As if that wasn’t enough Snow White movies, there’s a third in the works – Snow and the Seven.
We’re fans of both Saoirse and Kristen – they’re uber-talented, humble, articulate and dedicated to their craft. In fact, we think BOTH of them will not just pull off the role of Snow White, but completely nail it. Do you have a favorite? Vote in our poll below.
