Bye Bye, Ricky Gervais! Amy Poehler And Tina Fey Named Hosts For The Golden Globes!

Amy Poehler, Tina Fey Hosting Golden Globes

It’s early, and there’s no one around to high-five, which is such a shame, because this news is worthy of one. To the side, the other side, even. No? You don’t think so? Well, here’s the news: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been named as the hosts of the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards which will be held on January 13 at the Beverly Hilton! Did your brain just explode from the awesomeness of that announcement? This also means goodbye Ricky Gervais, who has been the controversial host of the show for the last three years. We’re not shedding any tears about him being replaced at all. We just could never relax and watch the show at ease because he always brought on a case of either, “He did not just say that” or a “What’s he going to do next?” Gervais did say on his blog that he wasn’t going to come back next year, writing, “I’ve told my agent to never let me be persuaded to do it again though. It’s like a parachute jump. You can only really enjoy it in retrospect when you realise you didn’t die and it was quite an amazing thing to do. The crowd were great this year too. I think they finally worked out that my gags only seemed rude and nasty but were actually not too scary at all. Or they were just drunker.” But you know when celebrities say “I’m never doing that again” you know it’s only a matter of time that they will? But the fact that Amy and Tina are now hosting changes all of that.  Bye bye, Gervais, for real! NBC’s prez for alternative and late night, Paul Telegdy, confirmed, “Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama.” Damn straight on all of that. This coupled with the news that Seth MacFarlane is hosting the Oscars as well, means we’re going to be glued to awards season!

Who Took Home Trophies At The 2011 Golden Globes (And What Was Up With Nat Port’s Laugh)?

Did you forget to watch the 2011 Golden Globes this evening? Well, aside from missing out on Ricky Gervais committing career hara kiri in front of an audience filled with Hollywood’s biggest power players, you missed a whole bunch of acceptance speeches with varying levels of grace and aplomb.

Before we get into the tonight’s full list of winners, we would be remiss if we didn’t call attention to Natalie Portman’s bizarre laugh. As TheFABLife buddy Molly Lambert over at This Recording noted on Twitter, Portman’s guttural guffaw sounded a lot like Charlene Yi in Knocked Up. Practice your laugh game before the Oscars, girl!

And now, for the winners…

2011 Golden Globes Nominations Announced

2011ggs-550rnrnAs much as we love the Oscars and the Critics Choice Movie Awards, our favorite night of the Awards Season each and every year has got to be the Golden Globes. Why? It’s not because all of our favorite movie stars co-mingle with all of our favorite television stars (although that’s pretty great), but rather, because the Hollywood Foreign Press Association ensures that all of its attendees consume copious amounts of booze!rnrnThis morning, the nominees for the 2011 Golden Globes were announced live on NBC by the unlikely trio of Josh Duhamel, Katie Holmes and Blair Underwood. As expected, films like Black Swan, The Social Network and The King’s Speech led the way, but we’ll have more analysis for you on that in a bit. For now, follow along for the complete list of who’ll be boozing it up on live television on Sunday, January 16th, 2011!rnrn Read more…
