Of Course Sam Claflin’s Finnick Is Hot Enough On The EW Cover. Has The Whole World Gone Insane?

Sam Claflin, Jennifer Lawrence On EW Catching Fire Cover

Well, we see everyone remembered to take their crazy pills this morning. What other explanation can there be for the rampant debate on Twitter and Tumblr over whether Sam Claflin is hot enough to be Hunger Games contender Finnick Odair, following the release of Entertainment Weekly‘s new Catching Fire cover. First of all, you can’t base a character or performer’s hotness on one photo. You have to look at all the evidence. Was Sam Claflin hot on the Catching Fire set in September? Yes. Was he hot leaping into the water while wearing a skin-tight wetsuit? Double yes. And if you have to base someone’s hotness on one photo, why not base it on EW’s inside photo of Katniss and Finnick? Are you looking at it now? Alright, alright.

So why are people doubting Claflin’s ability to pull off a character who is supposed to be hotness incarnate? If you ask us, it’s because both stars are clearly suffering from a case of Heinous Wig Syndrome (HWS), a terrible disease that also befell the Twilight casts during the last four movies of their franchise. Admit it: even Jennifer Lawrence looks less than amazing on this cover. Maybe those are special cinematic wigs that just don’t take to the close shots and heavy Photoshop of magazine photography. We don’t know; we never finished our Masters in Wig Studies. But keep the faith, everybody. We suspect Sam Claflin will have you furiously shipping Katniss/Finnick in no time. Seriously, did you look at that second photo? Humina.

Jennifer Lawrence Was On Fire In So Many Ways: Our #2 Celeb Who Dominated 2012

Jennifer Lawrence is No. 2 on our celebs who dominated 2012 list

On our list of 12 Celebs Who Dominated 2012, we’ve had stars who earned heaps of critical praise for their work; who garnered awards nods left and right; who found massive followings of fans; and who graced the covers of our favorite magazines in fashions high and low — but very few have done all of the above the way Jennifer Lawrence did. She started off the year as the star of  a highly anticipated franchise aimed at teen girls, The Hunger Games, and she’s finishing as an awards-show favorite for her very grown-up role in Silver Linings Playbook. Along the way, she’s charmed us with her self-deprecating interviews the way Katniss never quite could for Caesar Flickerman.

Dominating Moment: As the Girl Who Was on Fire, Lawrence drew a whole lot more than teen girls to the theaters to watch her battle other kids to the death in The Hunger Games. The movie had the biggest ever opening weekend for March, and went on to rank as the third biggest movie of the year, behind behemoths The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises. She also managed to follow that up with a little horror flick, House at the End of the Street, and a heartbreakingly funny role as the widow helping Bradley Cooper get his life back on track through ballroom dancing in Silver Linings Playbook, earning herself a Golden Globe nod. Honey Boo Boo, Chris Brown And Panem: 10 Signs The Mayan Apocalypse Really Should Happen Now

Chris Brown's tattoo, Honey Boo Boo-inspired porn among the 10 reasons the world should just end already

So folks at NASA and archaeologists and real news reporters are trying to tell everyone to simmer down about the apocalypse coming on December 21, because of science and stuff. But we’re beginning to suspect differently. Even if the Mayans themselves didn’t think the end of the 13th baktun (things we’ve learned this week!) didn’t actually meant the end of the world, we’ve noticed some signs that really, we should just give up and retreat to our bunkers right now. Let us count down our top 10:

Gossip Girl

10. Gossip Girl was Dan Humphrey all along! (And also, everyone on the island was dead!) Oof. The resolutions of series-long mysteries are never as good as we want them to be, probably much like the answers to life’s big questions. Bleh.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

9. All the hip-hop greats are running corporations, starring on reality-TV shows or dating the stars of reality-TV shows. Not that they shouldn’t trade thug life for the good life, but did they have to sell their artistic souls in the process?

Jennifer Lawrence Named Most Desirable Women Of 2012, Find Out Who Else Made The Top 10!

Jennifer Lawrence named most desirable woman

Excuse us while we let out a prolonged “duh!” Hunger Games franchise queen Jennifer Lawrence is beloved all over the world for her acting skillz, refreshing real talk and (of course) her gorgeous style and super hot bod. And now AskMen.com just bestowed upon her the title of Most Desirable Woman of the Year! 2012 has definitely been the year of the J-Law, since her record busting turn as Katniss Everdeen earlier this year. She’s covered W, Vogue and Elle magazine, become the new face of Dior, and most recently switched it up with the indie cred-getting Playbook Silver Linings. That’s a hell of a year for anyone, let alone a 22 year old!

And now she can add Most Desirable Woman to her impressive trophy stash! It’s a pretty serious honor when you consider her stiff competition, including the likes of pop goddess Rihanna, Esquire’s respective sexiest women of the year Miranda Kerr and Mila Kunis, runner/YouTube celebrity Michelle Jenneke and SI covergirl Kate Upton. Head on down to the gallery below to see how they ranked, and which other lovely ladies made it into the top 10.

Mags, Tridents, Sam Claflin In A Wetsuit: There’s A Lot Of Important Info In The New Catching Fire Pics

What’s that one scene in Catching Fire where Katniss looks like a total bad ass? Just kidding, that’s every single scene. Photos from the Hawaii set of the Hunger Games sequel are hitting the interwebs, so it only seems helpful to break down what America is looking at. Based on the fact our tributes are perched on top of individual platforms in the photos, it looks like we’re at the Quarter Quell. The Quarter Quell occurs at the very beginning of the 75th Hunger Games, the moment before the real good stuff starts. And the good stuff starts very quickly. Did you notice that somebody is wielding a trident?

Jennifer Lawrence Spends Thanksgiving Weekend Beach-Side In Hawaii

Jennifer Lawrence vacations in Hawaii

Jennifer Lawrence has been in Maui, Hawaii filming the next Hunger Games installment, Catching Fire and sadly wasn’t able to return to her hometown of Louisville for the Thanksgiving  holiday. But luckily her family came to her, with her mother, father and brother joining her out on the beaches for the weekend! “My dad won’t have a deep fryer so I don’t know what he’s going to do,” she jokingly told E! News.

She was also without her boyfriend Nick Hoult for the holiday, which must have been a bummer. But still, compared to the brawl at Halle Berry’s house, and Lady Gaga’s home getting invaded by fans, we’d say that Jennifer won out for the better celeb Turkey Day. The gorgeous 22-year old actress gave one more thing to be thankful for this year as she hit the sand in a bikini top and colorful skirt! Head on down to the gallery below for more!

Jennifer Lawrence Tells Leno Of Her Love For Honey Boo Boo, Deep-Fried Cheese Steak, Old Strippers

When we first saw an excerpt of Jennifer Lawrence on The Tonight Show, it was all about her “Fat Witch” Halloween costume, and we loved it. But then we saw the whole thing and realized that is the mere tip of the iceberg of the awesomeness that was this interview. We already knew the Catching Fire star loves eating Cheetos with her great boyfriend Nicholas Hoult and doesn’t care that she’s not twig-skinny like most Hollywood stars, but here are new things we learned about the endearingly normal, self-deprecating star as she promoted the Silver Linings Playbook last night.

  • She got into a car wreck a couple of weeks ago because she mistook a breast cancer parade for a Honey Boo Boo parade while driving home from the Catching Fire set in Georgia. “It said ‘boobs’ on the [sign] but I thought it was saying Boo Boo,” she explained of how she rear-ended someone. She had to tell the person she ran into, “I’m sorry that I hit your family. I thought I saw Honey Boo Boo. Please forgive me.”
  • On another Georgia adventure, she found herself at a “dive bar with senior citizen strippers,” getting a lap dance from an aggressive Bo Peep, who warned her not to touch her when she bent down, and “then she inserted her breast into my mouth.” Jen still tipped her, though.

Mockingjay Films To Be Directed By Catching Fire Helmer Francis Lawrence

Mockingjay, the final part of the Hunger Games, will be two films directed by Francis Lawrence

We haven’t heard a whole lot of news updates coming out of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire shoot going on in Atlanta — the few pictures we’ve seen do look appropriately awesome, though — but it must be going well. Well enough that Lionsgate has opted not to go the Twilight/Harry Potter route of having a different director for almost each installment. Deadline reports today that Catching Fire helmer Francis Lawrence will be directing the adaptation of Mockingjay, the third book in Suzanne Collins‘ dystopian trilogy. As had been previously announced, that third book will be divided into two movies, slated for release in November 2014 and 2015. That’s quite the vote of confidence, and it’s making us all the more excited for a peek at Catching Fire.

10 Post-Apocalyptic Movie Options To Help Keep Hurricane Sandy In Perspective

You heard the man! Earlier today NYC’s Mayor Bloomberg instructed those who are living in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy to “just stay hunkered in to your home and have a sandwich out of the fridge and sit back and watch television.” Seeing as how you are probably about to watch yet another movie during your Hurricane Sandy free day, we thought we’d offer some film selections that will make today’s rainy, wind-swept citywide freeze seem more manageable by comparison. Hey…at least Sandy’s not a zombie hurricane, right? Right.
