I thought my day was made when I saw that photo of Tyler Blackburn, Michael Trevino, Stephen Amell and other TV hotties on Bullett earlier today. But I wasn’t the only one to notice that the photo was suspiciously devoid of a pair of Salvatore brothers. Sometimes, all you have to do is ask the Internet, and you shall receive your heart’s desire. Actually, MORE than your heart’s desire. You receive one Salvatore brother, in the form of Ian Somerhalder, and one Fierce Five member, Gabrielle Douglas. (If this pic were photobombed by Paul Wesley and McKayla Douglas, I would spontaneously combust, so this will do just fine, thank you.)
“Eating @gabrielledoug ‘s Gold medal!yummmmmmm…,” Somerhalder wrote with the pic. Is Gabby making an appearance in Mystic Falls as Bonnie’s long-lost cousin? Pretty please?
Nina Dobrev, who used to compete in rhythmic gymnastics, was super psyched about Gabby’s visit to the Vampire Diaries set. “First thought at 530am when I woke up this morning: ‘What to wear when meeting an Olympian Gold Medalist?’” she tweeted.
BTW, Ian fans, the actor is participating in a live Twitter chat tonight at 9 p.m. with @TomsofMaine for something called #50SFG. And yeah, we got excited thinking that was a 50 Shades of Grey reference, but it’s actually for a nonprofit contest Ian’s helping to judge, called 50 States for Good. OK, we can get behind that too.
I first saw this photo this morning on Arrow star Stephen Amell‘sFacebook feed (like it, you won’t be sorry), and no kidding, all work stopped for a full five minutes. I’m surprised there’s no brain matter splattered on my screen right now. In case you haven’t yet committed the fall TV schedule to memory, here’s who they are, from left to right: Amell, Jay Ryan (Beauty and the Beast), Steven R. McQueen (The Vampire Diaries), Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf), Harry Shum Jr. (Glee), Tyler Blackburn (Pretty Little Liars), Justin Hartley (Emily Owens, M.D.), Taylor Kinney (Chicago Fire) and Michael Trevino (The Vampire Diaries). The spread is actually from Bullett Media, who decided to explode our hearts too, by gathering these guys’ quotes about what they look for in a woman.
“I judge a woman purely on how she looks first thing in the morning. That’s the critical point, right?” Amell says. OK, so he’s not all that romantic. But points for honesty!

“If a girl doesn’t get along with my dog, then we’ve got a problem,” McQueen says.
Our personal favorite is from Tyler Blackburn: “I enjoy a certain amount of decadence in my life, so I want to be with someone who shares an appreciation for the finer things. And if that finer thing happens to be fried, well, put it in your mouth.” We’re totally down with that one.
For the rest of the guys’ quotes (especially a surprising revelation from Taylor Kinney, a.k.a. Lady Gaga’s main squeeze), head over to Bullett.
Between the season-four promo and the above brand-new clip, we’re pretty sure most of you are with us on this fundamental question about The Vampire Diaries: Dear god, why doesn’t Elena want to become a vampire? Thankfully, VH1 Celebrity got the chance to talk to Nina Dobrev on the phone while she was in Toronto for the premiere of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and she gave us a list of all the drawbacks of being a vampire:
“For one you can’t have kids, you will never be able to experience something for the first and last time, and I think [Elena] really wants to be normal,” Dobrev told us. “There’s so much chaos in her life, there’s so much death, and so much sadness, especially when you become a vampire all your emotions are heightened, so if it’s raining you all of sudden start bawling because you’re so sad that the clouds are out and the sun’s not out. If someone makes a moderately funny joke you erupt into hysterical laughter, so it’s almost like going through puberty again and your emotions. And I don’t think anyone wants to go through that again. Once was enough.”
Hmm, we’d never thought of it that way. At the same time, the 23-year-old Degrassi alum has been going through the emotional turmoil of teenage life onscreen for quite some time now. Is she looking forward to graduating to adult roles sometime soon? Read more…
Hard to believe, but the multi-talented actress, singer and linguist Kat Graham has only just turned 21 today! We would be inclined to believe the Vampire Diaries star used some real-life witchcraft to accomplish so much at her age, but anyone who follows her on Twitter can tell the girl works nonstop. We hope she’s taking a moment to kick back and enjoy her birthday for a minute, in-between singing catchy new pop tunes and somehow working out whether Elena can avoid becoming a vampire and still live.
What with her power constantly being a pawn in the vampires’ awful battles, it hasn’t been such a fun year for poor Bonnie, has it? We’re glad it’s been one for the “Put Your Graffiti on Me” singer, though. Just check out her neon-splattered, ’90s pop-art inspired wardrobe in the gallery below and you’ll see what we mean. And when you’re done, head over to Kat’s page on TheWaterProject.org and make a donation in honor of her birthday!
Since the premiere of The Vampire Diaries, or actually, since we first read L.J. Smith’s novels, we’ve been dying for two things: For Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder to come public with their sexy love, and for Elena to become a vampire. Wish #1 came true last year, and it looks almost certain that #2 would be coming to pass when the show returns for season four on October 11. But it seems like Nina/Elena never wanted these things to be inevitable.
First, we have Nina, who graces the cover of Seventeen this month and fully laughs at her past rules against dating a co-star. “The first time I was on the cover of Seventeen, the cover line said, ‘Nina: Why she wouldn’t date any of her co-stars.’ And then cut to two years later … it’s funny that I said that, but you know what? It was honestly what I believed at the time. I didn’t want to be dating one of my co-stars — my goal on the show was to be professional. But sometimes you can’t help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long — which I did for a really, really long time.”
This girl must be stronger than we ever thought, just to consider fighting her “connection” to Ian. Read more…
While the Twi-hard world struggles to put the pieces back together following last week’s Kristen Stewart cheating news, fans of another vampire couple might be understandably wary of putting too much faith in their real-life romance. So far as we know, The Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are still going strong. (And we’re reeeeallly hoping that now that Elena is a vampire, she’ll follow in the L.J. Smith books’ plot and fully fall for Damon onscreen too.) But that doesn’t mean that there are wedding bells in their near future, either.
“Eventually I am going to marry and have a family but not anytime soon,” she told Canada’s Fashion magazine, via UsMagazine.com. “I’m not going to pull a Miley.” Read more…
The surfboards were being handed out at seemingly record speed at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night. Without a DVR, we’d hardly have been able to catch the many awards picked up by Justin Bieber, The Vampire Diaries crew or, of course The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. “When do you ever get to see Alan Ball and Chris Meloni doing body rolls?” Joe Manganiello asked me shortly after the True Blood panel. When but at Comic-Con? After the trailer shown at the panel seemed to indicate that Pam is making Tara into a stripper, Joe, of course, took the opportunity to demonstrate his Magic Mike skills. And mayhem ensued (as in show creator Ball stood on his chair to show his moves, and Meloni did his version later, too).
The crowd was already worked up about sexy supes after the Vampire Diaries panel, where the stars themselves brought up all sorts of naughty ideas. Zack Roerig suggested that Elena could use Matt’s blood, or his body, for comfort now that she’s a vampire, and then went on to say he thinks Matt should get it on with Caroline’s mom, Sheriff Forbes. Not to be outdone, Paul Wesley said Elijah and Stefan should hook up. Later on, he floated the theory that vampire sex lasts only half a second, so it could even be done in line at Starbucks. That lead Ian Somerhalder to quip that vampire sex had happened right there in front of the audience and we didn’t even know it. Oh, we’d know it, Ian. We were watching you veeerry closely. If you’re like me, you haven’t entirely come to terms with the loss of Alaric on The Vampire Diaries. Good thing we don’t have to miss actor Matt Davis for very long: He’s got the lead in the CW’s mid-season drama Cult. The suspenseful mystery is hard to summarize, even for its stars, but let’s just say it’s a show about a TV show about a cult, whose superfans suddenly appear to be in grave danger. The Lost-like air of mystery already has the show gaining buzz at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which gave Davis the perfect excuse to get to hang out with his Vampire Diaries pals while promoting his new gig. Not to make him feel sad or anything, but I had to ask him what he misses most about being in Mystic Falls.
“My friends. My family. After three years, I’ve become so close with everyone, it breaks my heart to think that I’m not out with them right now,” he told me, a little wistfully. “I’ll see them here, which is great. I love that [Cult] has come as far as it has, that it’s being well received, that we’re at Comic-Con so it’s paralleling them. It’s a good way to segue out of a show like Vampire Diaries.” Read more…
You know what’s great about informal awards shows like the Teen Choice Awards? They have complete freedom to make up categories as they go along, thus ensuring that the hottest, most fan-favoritest stars of the moment will show up and take home some hardware. And no one will complain, ever. Especially as we look at the “second round” of nominees for the TCAs, which take place July 22. You can go here to see the complete list. But we’ll give you the highlights you care about most:
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 now has 11 nods, including the Choice Movie: Romance, Actor and Actress: Romance (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who already have nods for Sci Fi/Fantasy), Liplock, and Scene Stealer: Male (Kellan Lutz) and Female (Nikki Reed).
The Vampire Diaries‘ count is up to eight, with Villain (Joseph Morgan), and Male and Female Scene Stealers (Candice Accola and Michael Trevino).
And, in keeping with the zeitgeist of the year, the TCAs are shaping up to be one long celebration of Channing Tatum. He’s got six nominations to his name. In addition to his previously announced nods for Movie Actor: Drama (for The Vow) and Movie Actor: Comedy (for 21 Jump Street), he’s also now nominated for Movie Actor: Romance (The Vow again), Liplock (The Vow, with Rachel McAdams), Chemistry and Hissy Fit (for 21 Jump Street, with Jonah Hill).
The biggest question now: Will a third round of nominations include a category for Best Male Stripper Movie? Oh, wait. Is that weird when we’re talking about “Teen” choice? Sorry.
