It’s on, folks! The current trend of summer brights is something we love, and take quite seriously, and when we see three can’t-miss-’em celebrities doing the same, we get all up in a tizzy. You saw us flip over Blake Lively‘s Savages promotional ensembles yesterday, and she’s already triumphed again. Blake wore the stunning primrose yellow Gucci goddess gown you see in the middle, to the New York premiere of the film last night. We also love the turquoise Lorraine Schwartz jewelery she has on. This is called perfect styling, right down to her fishtail braid. Giving her competition is Britney Spears, on the left, at The X Factor Rhode Island auditions yesterday. She’s giving great face in her cherry red Hervé Léger by Max Azria dress with YSL “Tribtoo” heels. ‘Course it’s clingy and sexy, but she’s working it, plus her hair looks all sorts of awesome.
Rounding up this motley trio is our lady Rihanna. The songbird was spotted heading out of the Corinthia Hotel in London yesterday wearing what you see on the right. Yes, it is what it is — a red and pink Acne Pre-Fall 2012 tuxedo suit with Simone Rocha glass heel brogues. Her floral bra kept peeking out too. Could anyone else pull this off but Ri-Ri? We don’t think so. So there you have it, folks. Three very different examples of how to wear summer brights. But you got to let us know — whose look do you prefer? Vote in the poll below, and let us know.
Howard Stern, we’re going to stop you right there. You can be as mean as you want to Britney Spears, but this feud is just not happening. “I think that we’re going to tune in to see if she can function through the thing,” Stern snarked on his show this week about the singer’s new X Factor gig. “As far as any real criticism, I think Simon [Cowell] and L.A. Reid will be doing that. I think Britney is going to stand there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit. I don’t anticipate great opinions from her.” Whoa, whoa, whoa! This is not 2007 and she is not performing at the VMAs, Howard; Britney has her ish together! Spears is engaged, making that money and doesn’t look like she slept in a drainage ditch for three days straight, which is more than we can say for some people.
As desperate as the newest America’s Got Talent judge might be to start some kind of attention-getting drama, we can pretty much guarantee Britney isn’t going to reply to this in anger; it isn’t her style. Besides, if BritBrit does go into a lollipop-fueled sugar rage and flip over a table while wearing a school girl uniform, that just means better ratings for The X Factor. Even Stern knows that. “I will tune in to see what kind of train wreck she is,” he scoffed. Oh Howard, if only you could look within, and see the big, beautiful wreck inside yourself…
It’s finally official, set-in-stone, greenlit and ready to go! After weeks of rumors, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were officially presented this afternoon as the newest judges on The X Factor. We announced last week that Britney finally inked a $15 million deal after years (OK, maybe just months) of back and forth negotiations, and this morning we passed along unconfirmed reports that Demi was signing on as well. But now we know for real that the two Disney alums will be taking over seats left by former judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
“I’m so exited about this whole experience,” she said at the Fox network “upfront” this afternoon in New York. “I’m ready to find a true star.” Demi was equally enthusiastic. “I’m exited to represent my generation.” For his part, Simon was his usual cocky sharp-tonged self. “I’m thrilled they The Voice have decided to compete with us in the fall,” he said with a smirk. “I wish them luck.” Bold words, considering that the first season of the show didn’t match the overwhelming success of American Idol a decade before. But…come on, it’s Britney freakin’ Spears. She’s sure to be a much-needed shot in the arm as far as the ratings are concerned! Right? Or are we just showing our age…?
The outspoken “Skyscraper” star and her fellow Disney Channel alumna kind of make this the pop-starriest judging panel ever (no offense, JLo, Xtina, Paula and, er, Nicole). And at 19, Lovato is certainly the youngest judge we’ve seen on a major talent show in this country. Will Reid be able to hold his own against these ladies? We can hardly wait to see when The X Factor returns this fall. Stay tuned today for more news from the Upfronts!
Dang, X Factor, how much money are you playing with? Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid must be scooping gold doubloons out of their personal coin-filled swimming pools right now, because new rumors suggest that Miley Cyrus is in talks to be an X Factor judge in additionto one Miss Britney Spears. “There have been talks with Miley,” a source admitted to Celebuzz, though the names Fergie, Avril Lavigne and Demi Lovato have also been bandied about. The clear solution is to just hurry up and hire all of them, Simon. So you can only get a fresh stack of cashmere v-necks and your entire body waxed every other month. It is a small price to pay for quality television!
Meanwhile, it’s been almost a month since we heard that no, for realsies this time, Britney is about to sign on as an X Factor judge to the tune of a cool $15 million (or $16 million, depending on who you asked). The fact that nothing has officially happened yet doesn’t necessarily mean Britney Spears is out of the running in favor of Miley Cyrus, though. And considering the show’s second season doesn’t start until September, we’re betting we’ll hear a lot more “rumors” in months to come. Actually, we’ll go ahead and start some right now. Jessie J! Mandy Moore! Madonna! Um, Beyonce! Again!
Are we doing this or not, girl? We’ve been hearing rumors about Britney Spears’ X-Factor gig since the end of February…and approximately every 45 minutes since. According to E! News, however, our wait is finally over, with BritBrit signing on to the tune of $15 million, a package deal that also snags her fiance Jason Trawick a spot as producer on the show. “Both camps were back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee,” their insider claims. “That was the big sticking point and now, thankfully, it’s been sorted. All they need to do now is work out the smaller points.” Wait, there are smaller points to be worked out after someone pays you $15 million and gives your husband a job? What, like which chair you get? Get that money and run, girl!
Meanwhile, a source reporting to Us Weekly claims Britney Spears will be signed on for $16 million. Is that what it’s going to take? A million more? Considering Beyonce was rumored to be joining for $100 million a season, we say Simon Cowell is getting a serious bargain. JLo is going to be so pissed, seeing as how she’s allegedly only making $12 million to judge AI. Plus, you know she probably took whatever chair they gave her!
Whenever we get good news, we like to pop open some champagne and slip into the least binding pair of pants we own. Was Rihanna doing the same thing at LAX to celebrate an new X-Factor judging gig? According to MediaTakeOut, the Talk That Talk singer is allegedly in negotiations to earn some serious cash, between $15 and $20 million a year, to take a seat beside to Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on the competition show next season. We’re just saying, that would be a great reason to treat oneself to the awesomeness of ’80s hip-hop leisure wear, rather than yet another pair of bead-encrusted booty shorts. Now we definitely hope this rumor is true. We’ll feel like the Sherlock Holmes of soft pants!
If rumors about RiRi’s new gig are accurate, however, does that mean she’ll be bumping Britney Spears as the show’s resident pop diva? “[Rihanna] wanted to be on X-Factor, but we all thought that [Britney Spears] had it,” MediaTakeOut’s source claims. “When [Rihanna] found out that they wanted her instead, she jumped at [the opportunity.]” Whether we’re reading Rihanna’s sweatpants signals correctly or not, it is true that there has been no official word on Spears being hired as of yet. We’ll know one way or the other the second we see Brit-Brit rocking some pajama jeans.
Tulisa Contostavlos is a pretty huge name over in the U.K. She’s not only a singer-songwriter (as a part of N-Dubz, which split up) and an actress, she is also a judge on The X Factor. So you can imagine what would happen when a sex tape featuring Tulisa makes an appearance on the web. It’s everywhere. The video was posted earlier this week and supposedly featured a blond Tulisa performing a sex act on a male partner recorded on a camera phone. Her lawyers rushed into action and immediately got it taken off the internet, but the damage was already done.
Interestingly enough, after the initial denials by her team of her actually being on the tape, a rather unexpected event has taken place. Tulisa has posted a video on YouTube which is a confession of sorts, as well a response to the sex tape. She talks about how it is, indeed her on it, along with ex-boyfriend Justin Edwards — also known as Ultra — and calls him out for posting the video. It’s a pretty straight-up, interesting monologue, delving a bit into the history of their relationship and how close they were. “As you can imagine, I’m devastated, heartbroken, and I’ve been in bits for the past few days. When you share an intimate moment with someone that you love, that you care about and you trust, you never imagine for one minute that that the footage may at one point be shared with the rest of the U.K. or even people around the world, so as you can imagine, it’s a pretty tough time for me.”
We’ve been hearing for a while that Britney Spears was a contender to fill one of the X Factor judges’ seats vacated by Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, but now The Hollywood Reporter says a contract could be signed as early as next week. The deal is being negotiated by her fiance/agent Jason Trawick, the site says. She’s undergoing extensive media training for the gig, per THR, but we hope not too much, since it would certainly be more entertaining to see an uncensored Brit-Brit on live TV every week than a well-trained one. “There’s going to be a lot of twists and turns over the next few weeks and a lot of things we’re going to announce,” Cowell said in a recent conference call with reporters. One other change the show will undergo when it returns this summer is that two hosts will replace Steve Jones to create a “different kind of chemistry” on the show. Read more…
