The Artist Earns 12 BAFTA Nods — Here Are The Real 5 Reasons To See It

So, The Artist, a movie with by a French director, with French stars, that takes place in Hollywood, is so completely dominating awards season that it’s earned 12 nods for the British kudosfest the BAFTAs. It’s already won three Golden Globes and four Critics’ Choice awards. And it’s nominated for all the other big pre-Oscar awards: NBR, PGA, DGA, SAG and Independent Spirit. But we worry that all this lofty buzz (not to mention the attention it garnered during Cannes) is actually doing the opposite of drawing certain people to the theaters. A critically acclaimed, bound-to-be-Oscar-nominated black-and-white silent movie by a foreign dude? “No thanks,” some of you are saying. But I am here to say you are wrong. Here’s why you should see it:

1. Uggie as “The Dog.” If you saw the Jack Russell terrier hamming it up onstage at the Globes, you got a tiny taste of his scene-stealing antics. Also, Robert Pattinson fans should recognized this talented pooch as Queenie from Water for Elephants. He’s not just a pretty face, either — his heroic feats rival Lassie’s in the pic, and he may have made us cry once or twice. There’s even a campaign for him to get an Oscar.

So, What Do We Think Of Robert Pattinson’s Hair?

Well, it’s not like this is the first time he’s done this to us. Still, after waiting for hours to see Robert Pattinson appear at the People’s Choice Awards (sometimes known as the Twilight Awards, only this year, there was no actual eligible Twi-movie), it came as a bit of a shock. There he was, sitting in the front row with Betty White, sans his adorably mussed locks. And when he got up to accept the Favorite Drama Movie award for Water for Elephants, he seemed a little shocked himself — how does one accept an award without running your hand through your hair? Robert Pattinson’s Best Moments Of 2011: Huge Hits, F-Bombs And Everything In Between

It’s been a busy year for Robert Pattinson, who spent much of his time shuffling through airports in Vancouver, Toronto, St. Thomas, London and Los Angeles as he shot Breaking Dawn and Cosmopolis, promoted Water for Elephants and hung out with his better half. In between all the traveling and guitar-lugging, Rob fit in an eventful year filled with magazine covers (Amish Hat, never forget), an adopted dog-child, a bevy of gorgeous Gucci suits and a memorable Movie Awards appearance filled with F-bombs and awkward jokes. We salute the Year in Rob with our favorite photos and moments, below.

People’s Choice Awards Nominations By The Numbers: Vampires, Wizards And Alien Katy Perry

The nominees for the 2012 People’s Choice Awards — the bane of all snooty critics — have been announced. And since you can go ahead and see all of the nominees when you go to vote (through December 6) for the show’s winners, to be announced in the January 11 ceremony, we thought we’d concentrate on some important numbers revealed on the list.

9: Nominations for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (including Favorite Movie, four of the five nods for Favorite Actor Under 25 and Favorite Book Adaptation)

0: Nominations for Deathly Hallows, Part 1, which came out last November and missed last year’s cut-off.

7: Nominations for Katy Perry, who, in addition to the expected music categories received nods for Favorite Animated Movie Voice (for Smurfs) and TV guest star (How I Met Your Mother).

7: Nominations for Glee, including two for TV comedy actress (Jane Lynch and Lea Michele), two for comedy actor (Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith), two for guest stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristin Chenoweth, and one for network TV comedy. We are holding out hope for a Heather Morris nod one of these days.

6: Nominations for vampires, that’s just from True Blood and The Vampire Diaries.

13: Last year’s nominations for vampires, because Eclipse came out in the summer. Reminding us just how long it’s been since we’ve had a Twilight movie!

3: Nominations for Water for Elephants/Robert Pattinson. The frustrated Twilight vote finds its outlet!

0: Nods for women in the Favorite Movie Icon category.

0: Nods for women in the Favorite Action Star category.

1: Nod for a woman in the Favorite Superhero category: Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique in X-Men: First Class.

1: Nomination for a Kardashian. Kim, for fave celebreality star. Sorry, rest of the family!

Rob And Reese Clean Up Nicely For Water For Elephants Sydney Premiere

How bewildered does Robert Pattinson look in this photograph!? We think it’s adorable that he’s still not used to all the mass hysteria that surrounds him. After a photo call in Luna Park earlier today, Robert and Reese Witherspoon dressed up for the Water For Elephants premiere in Sydney held at the State Theatre. It’s a massive event (some reckon there’s a 300 meter red carpet being rolled out) and we loved the grey suit-skinny tie combination Rob has on as opposed to the black-on-black he had on for the Water For Elephants London premiere. And that deep teal dress Reese has on is a knock out—and kudos for the sexy hair too! Loves it! Join us in sighing over the two actors doing their thing in our gallery below.

Robert And Reese Surprised By An Elephant Down Under

Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon are in Sydney currently, attending the premiere for Water For Elephants. As expected the two actors turned up for a photo call in Luna Park where Rob and Reese were surprised by a third guest star — Siam the elephant! The Asian pachyderm was apparently brought in from Australia Zoo in Queensland and is a bit of a celebrity herself having appeared in numerous adverts and commercials on TV! RPattz and Reese weren’t expecting her but gamely posed after a bit of adjustment — the elephants behind supposedly kept threatening to butt them (pardon the pun). Reese looked casually sexy in skinny jeans, a black jumper and Louboutins, while Rob was his usual scruffy adorable self. The big Water For Elephants premiere is happening tonight in Australia so stay tuned for all the pictures!

The Water For Elephants Circus Rolls Into London

Robert Pattinson led the Water For Elephants circus into his native London today, with his lovely co-star Reese Witherspoon on his pale arm. The hometown hunk came clad in yet another all-black suit (is he mourning the absent K-Stew?), while Reese opted instead for a royal blue cocktail dress. As always the pair looked incredible, which is impressive considering they were in Barcelona only yesterday to spread the Water For Elephants gospel. When do these guys rest? Reese And Rob Are Tres Jolie In Paris

Will the Water for Elephants madness ever end? (Answer: yes, and we will cry.) Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon just walked the red carpet at the Paris premiere and the pictures are just now rolling in. Rob went with an all black look (bring back the colored suits, please!) while Reese got our jealous flames flaring in an adorable red mini. We love how she does the simple n’ elegant thing so well. Look at that hair! Not a flyaway to be found.

Robert Pattinson Arrives In Paris To Promote Water For Elephants

The Robert Pattinson World Tour continues! The actor arrived in Paris yesterday, where he’s busy promoting his lovely film Water for Elephants. We like his blue-black look: Dockers, Carhartt jacket, brand new Converse. Rob-style (some of you might call it “hobo chic”) at it’s best! Also on hand were Rob’s trusty bodyguard, director Francis Lawrence and a bunch of eager paparazzi. You know – his usual posse.

Rob is quickly establishing himself as somewhat of a male fashion icon, what with his taste for donning colorful suits on the red carpet. He rocked a brown suit in Berlin; we’re dying to see what Rob wears in the most fashionable city in the world. Forest green, please!

RPattz Rocks Brown Suit At Berlin Premiere

We love Robert Pattinson in a suit. Recently the actor’s been hitting it out of the ballpark with pops of color, skinny ties and slender cuts. He just walked the carpet at the Berlin premiere of Water for Elephants in an elegant brown suit, a pic of which was sent to us by a co-worker in an email titled “NOM NOM NOM.” Yep, that about sums it up.
