Some of us who didn’t manage to tune into Oxygen’s Glee Project last summer (me) let out a collective gasp during last night’s Glee, when new student Joe Hart introduced himself to Mercedes’ God Squad. And I’m sure some of you who did watch the reality competition were jumping up and down with, well, glee at the sight of those piercing hazel eyes — it was Samuel Larsen, the other winner of the reality show (besides Damian McGinty, a.k.a. Rory Flanagan). And we have to agree with Quinn, his character reminded us a little of Jesus — the kind of Jesus (the barefoot, home-schooled, love everyone, singing kind) that could make a Jewish girl convert. So, when he took the lead on “Stereo Hearts” and sang to Rachel, we got a little worried for Finn, even though Joe and the God Squad were just delivering Finn’s singing telegram. I mean, if the guy can change our minds about dreadlocks, he certainly has a shot at changing Rachel’s mind, maybe just for a minute, about marrying Finn.
That, of course, got us thinking that we should put it to a vote. Given the choice between Sam, the California-born, 20-year-old musician whose real-life Christianity inspired Ryan Murphy to create Joe, and Cory Monteith, the 29-year-old Canadian who’s been praying to Grilled Cheesus and turning us to mush for two-and-a-half years now, who would you pick? Peruse this little gallery and vote!
In all the months we’ve been doing weekly Hotness polls, we’ve never had the (embarrassing) honor of actually talking to one of its subjects while voting was under way. Until now. Scott Speedman stopped by VH1 to promote his role as the anti-Channing Tatum, as Rachel McAdams’ ex-fiance, in The Vow. That movie’s love triangle, he said isn’t quite as fair as the one that made him famous: the fight against Noel for Felicity.
“I feel like the Felicity one was more balanced,” he said. “There was more screen time for all in that one. This one [in The Vow] is more skewed one way.”
So, who does he think would win in a real-life love triangle? Read more…
As we’re pretty sure you know by now, from the ubiquitous for The Vow, Channing Tatum plays a guy whose wife, Rachel McAdams, doesn’t remember him after an accident erases the last five years of her life. She does, however, remember her ex-fiance, played by Scott Speedman. That’s kind of a good metaphor. Five years ago, even though Felicity had been off the air for four years, we were still pining for Ben. Despite his anger-management issues and underachieving ways, all he had to do was grin and say “Hey,” and we were weak in the knees. In 2006, Channing came on the scene, playing a tough guy from the wrong side of the tracks who dreams of being a dancer in Step Up. Is there a more perfect recipe for a heartthrob?
For this week’s Hotness poll, it will be hard to choose between Channing — whose massive shoulders and blindingly beautiful abs have been gracing the screen quite regularly since his big break — and Scott, who was totally ahead of the whole vampire trend when he co-starred in the Underworld movies but hasn’t really hit it big as a romantic lead in all these years. But we think you can manage. Felicity did. And so, we assume, does Rachel’s character. Here’s a gallery to help you decide (or make it harder). Voting ends Friday at 2 p.m. ET.
Eli Manning and Tom Brady competed in a nail-biting battle of wits, endurance and strength last night, and experts and amateurs alike are no doubt reviewing every minute to see whether it was down to their individual choices or the support of those around them that lead to the ultimate outcome: Tom Brady is officially this week’s Hotness! Oh, and Eli Manning won the Super Bowl.
Maybe Gisele’s prayers were misheard and somehow got directed to this competition, rather than the one on the field? Anyway, we like it when everyone comes out a winner. While tomorrow, we’ll shower the Giants in ticker tape for their victory, today it’s time to help Tom celebrate his Hotness title with a little gallery viewing.
We like to think that our weekly Hotness poll isn’t all about looks — personality plays a big part in our celebrity lust. But this week’s choice will run even deeper for some of you as we pit this week’s Super Bowl quarterbacks, the Patriots’ Tom Brady and the Giants’ Eli Manning, against each other in a tough matchup. Do you go for classically handsome Tom, with his deep-set baby blues, dimpled chin and supermodel wife? Or does sweet boy-next-door Eli, with his goofy smile and his ability to pull through in a clutch?* Do you vote for New York or New England (or AGAINST New York or New England), regardless of the QBs’ cuteness? Whatever you do, vote early, vote often and don’t get any guacamole on your mouse during halftime. Poll closes on Sunday night at 11 p.m.
I’m gearing up to cover the SAG Awards red carpet this Sunday, and couldn’t help but oogle over a couple of the nominees. Hunky, handsome with a little bit of grey in their hair, both Kyle Chandler and George Clooney are masters at playing sensitive, sexy dads on their respective screens. Chandler is nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Coach Eric Taylor on Friday Night Lights, aka everyone’s favorite show to tweet about. The Cloonster (Can I call you that, George?) is up for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role for his work in the ukelele-heavy tearjerker The Descendants.
My dream of being sandwiched in Cloonster-Coach Taylor group hug may become a reality this Sunday night (Secreting it now), but only one of these fine, fictional fathers can be this week’s Hotness. Check out our gallery to help you make your decision, and then vote in our poll. We’ll be keeping it open until Sunday night, so you can check them out in all their tuxedoed glory and then cast your vote (And vote again. And again. And again). The SAG Awards air on TBS and TNT at 8PM EST – we’ll be watching, blogging and tweeting the show live. Hang with us, won’t ya?
To be honest, when we put Ewan McGregor up against Michael Fassbender for this week’s Hotness poll, we worried that Ewan might get crushed. Not that we dispute the Scottish actor’s hotness in the least, mind you. But Fassbender has all that buzz. And oh, yeah, all that full-frontal nudity, which inspired George Clooney to joke at the Golden Globes that he can play golf with his hands behind his back. Aaaanyway, Ewan certainly has the advantage of years of gathering devoted fans. Particularly a couple of them who live in the Ukraine and have apparently been hitting refresh nonstop for days. Well, give you clicking fingers a break, my friends, and watch both actors brutalized by Gina Carano in Haywire this weekend. Right after you celebrate your victory by looking at Ewan’s smiling face. Congrats!
Michael Fassbender and Ewan McGregor: Both incredibly sexy men from across the pond, both very talented, both can wear the hell out of a scarf, both get their asses absolutely BEAT DOWN by Gina Carano in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, in theaters this Friday. Sorry, that was a tiny bit of a spoiler, except you know they wouldn’t cast an MMA fighter in a movie and have her sit in the drawing room sipping tea. More on Gina later this week. In the meantime, we would like to force you to choose between Fassbender — the 34-year-old Irish German who’s starred in just about every movie of 2011, from Jane Eyre to X-Men: First Class to Shame, where he got very naked — and McGregor, the 40-year-old Scot who weirdly won our hearts back when he played a heroine addict in Trainspotting and hasn’t lost them since. (We’re trying very hard to forget about his less-than-hot turn in those Star Wars prequels.) Who’s it gonna be, my friends? Peruse the gallery below and then vote. Poll closes at 2 p.m. ET on Friday.
As a short-hair girl myself, I always feel a special kinship with other ladies I meet who dare to shear their flowing locks. So I wonder, too, if this year’s awards season darlings Michelle Williams and Carey Mulligan feel like they’re sisters of a sort, due to their adorable blond ‘dos. Or maybe, as Hollywood is wont to do, they’ve been forced into a rivalry by half-blind casting directors who see them as interchangeable. I hope not, because the Shame and the My Week With Marilyn stars are both awesome in unique ways. But, contrarily, we decided to promote a different kind of rivalry, by making you vote for them in this week’s Hotness poll.
We’ll get plenty more chances to see future Mrs. Daisy Buchanan Carey and the all-American Dawson’s Creek alum Michelle in the coming weeks, since they’re both nominated for, like, everything, beginning with the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards tomorrow night — head over to CriticsChoice.VH1.com at 6 p.m. ET to see if they’re walking the red carpet. But in the meantime, peruse this gallery of the two lovely ladies and vote!
When we put Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka up against Adam Lambert and Sauli Koskinen for our first ever couples’ Hotness poll on Wednesday, we had a pretty good guess who would win. But we didn’t really expect such a dramatic landslide. Sorry, NPH and DB, you and your twins are adorbs, but clearly Glambert rules the Internet. We received a whopping 30,095 votes for this one, and Adam and Sauli took more than 78 percent of those. We had votes coming in from 89 different countries, with the majority obviously from the U.S. and Sauli’s native Finland.
Speaking of overseas travels, Adam was recently interviewed by Pressparty about his upcoming album, Tresspassing, and asked if homophobia in the States ever makes him consider moving to Europe with Sauli. “As far as Europe is concerned, I’d love to live there someday,” he told the site. “I love European history and the lifestyle. However, I am an American with family and friends here, and no matter the socio-political climate, this is my home.”
Check out the gallery below to celebrate Adam and Sauli’s win.
