It looks like the X-Men bond has been broken, as Zoe Kravitz has split with her First Class costar Michael Fassbender and moved on to Gossip Girl star, Penn Badgley. The two were seen leaving the (aptly named) Friends With Benefits party in the same cab, and more recently they were seen canoodling in a darkened movie theater watching Horrible Bosses. “He had his arm around her while they waited in line,†a source told Page Six.
But it looks like that was the wrong movie to see together, because things got a little awkward for the newly minted couple. Apparently there’s a part of the movie where Jennifer Aniston’s racy character asks, “Did you see Gossip Girl last night? I [bleeped] myself so hard [watching] that Penn Badgley guy, I broke a nail.” According to the witness, this made the real Penn more than a little uncomfortable. “The look on Penn’s face was priceless. They left the theater right after.” Looks like you might have some competition, Zoe!
When the weather gets hot, sometimes all you want to do is hide a Cherry Coke in your purse (or man-bag; I don’t discriminate), sit down in an air-conditioned movie theater, and watch a big, flashy, over-the-top action movie. Alternately genius and goofy, carefully crafted and dripping with molten cheese, X-Men: First Class gets an A- for honoring the big budget summer movie tradition, and is worth seeing even if you don’t know Azazel from Angel Salvatore (don’t worry; I had no idea who they were either).
If you haven’t heard about Jennifer Lawrence by now, following her Oscar nominated performance in Winter’s Bone and her turn as Mystique in X-Men: First Class (out today!), don’t worry—you’ll have plenty of chances to catch up before The Hunger Games hits theaters next March. Lawrence beat out ingenues like Hailee Steinfeld and Chloe Moretz for the lead role of Katniss in Games, which many expect to take over Twilight‘s position as the must-see teen franchise after Edward & Bella bid goodbye. Almost as impressive? That hardly anyone seems to have noticed she’s in Mel Gibson‘s The Beaver. Sometimes its better not to be seen!
Naturally, Lawrence’s increased profile has meant increased access to glamorous dresses. Check out the gallery to see 20 of her hottest looks so far…though there’s certain to be plenty more to come!
This is one of the movie’s we can’t wait to watch this summer! The X-Men: First Class premiere took place at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City yesterday and most of the star cast turned up for it. January Jones decided to play where’s-the-baby-bump, because we could see nary a sign of it in her Preen dress and Prada shoes. Zoe Kravitz and Michael Fassbender—co-stars and a couple—looked liked the perfect pair. She was slinky in an Alexander Wang dress and Chanelshoes, and he was gorgeous in a three-piece grey suit and aviators.
James McAvoy (who we just love), Kevin Bacon and Lucas Till rounded up the men and we’re thinking… this movie is going to be such a babe fest! Rose Byrne looked better than we’ve ever seen her in a Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 navy lace dress with Bryan Atwood pumps. We’re a little disappointed that Jennifer Lawrence didn’t show up, but that’s just us fangirling.
What would you say seems like the greater cinematic feat in the new X-Men: First Class TV trailers: the CGI needed for Jennifer Lawrence to morph into blue-scaled mutant Mystique, or the editing need to make January Jones look like she might not be reading off a cue-card while her character Emma Frost threatens the safety of humanity? Oh yes, we went there! What are you going to do, blow us up with your chest laser like Lucas Till‘s Havok?* Either way, there is plenty of movie magic to be found in the film, opening June 3; Michael Fassbender‘s seriously creepy magnetic powers and Kevin Bacon‘s luxuriant hair piece are but one small part of an awesome look whole.

As temperatures rise and blockbusters flood the movie theaters, prepare to swim in celebs who became household names via the boob tube. While some have since established themselves as movie stars, we grew to love them on a weekly basis from our couches.
A brunette version of Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively will play leading lady opposite Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern. Mad Men‘s January Jones will trade her 60s housewife getup for a shimmery push-up bra for her role as Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class. Ever the uptight but lovable nerd, The Office‘s Ed Helms will reprise his role in The Wolfpack in The Hangover: Part II. This summer’s token fluffy comedy Monte Carlo features plenty of TV’s hottest stars such as Glee‘s Cory Monteith, GG‘s Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy, and Wizards of Waverly Place‘s Selena Gomez.
Before the heat and humidity makes us all flee to the movie theaters for relief, check out what TV stars to keep an eye out for in this summer’s biggest flicks.
Jennifer Lawrence – Katniss in The Hunger Games – was in our building yesterday, rolling in to MTV headquarters wearing flared jeans (Fashionistas: are these cool again?) and a cute stripped cardigan. She’s busy promoting X-Men: First Class (Lawrence did Letterman, too) but her interviews all seem to trend toward our favorite topic these days: The Hunger Games. She told Access Hollywood that as a lover of the series, she feels “like a fan that gets to dress up.” Who needs to be in a movie to dress up like Katniss? We’re wearing our Mockingjay pin right now.
Lawrence also reveals that she and co-stars Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson have been enduring intense physical training to prep for their roles. “I love archery! I really love it. And I’m starting to do stunts with the bow and arrow, so I kind of feel like Hugh Jackman. And then I’m doing rock climbing [and] tree climbing.” She adds, “We all pretty much have to get in supernatural shape for this.”
We were most excited by her interview with Letterman (below the jump). The actress comes across as totally down to earth in the “we could be BFFs and scarf down cheeseburgers together while watching 10 Things I Hate About You” sorta way. Goofy, quick, smart, self-assured and sexy — with a body that isn’t a bag of bones! The more we watch her in action, the more we love her as the face of our new favorite franchise.
She’s already got Hollywood wrapped around her finger, so she doesn’t need validation from us. That being said, we have much love for our fantasy little sister, Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence. In Jennifer Lawrence’s Elle interview, the Winter Bones star described her work out goals prior to appearing in nothing but blue paint for scenes for X-Men: First Class, opening June 3. “I knew that if I was going to be naked in front of the world, I wanted to look like a woman and not a prepubescent 13-year-old boy,” Lawrence said. “I’m so sick of people thinking that’s what we’re supposed to look like.” It’s like we’re looking at a younger, Oscar-winning version of ourselves.
As if she wasn’t already someone you’d want to join for a Veronica Mars marathon and Clive Owen sweat sesson, Jennifer also reminisced about her pre-Academy Award meal. “Fifteen minutes before, the guy doing my hair goes, ‘If you can get a salad, get a salad. I said, ‘I’m getting a Philly cheesesteak.’ I’m sure there’s proof on a hotel bill somewhere,” Lawrence said. After watching Jennifer Lawrence’s Elle photo shoot video, all we want to do is eat grilled meats and watch Big Lebowski with her. Not that we won’t enjoy doing both of those things by ourselves; it just won’t be the same.
Before Jennifer Lawrence gets a chance to show the world what she can do with the plum role of Katniss in The Hunger Games, she’ll be appearing on a big screen near you in X-Men: First Class, opening June 3. Lawrence will embody the role of Mystique, a sultry shape-shifter who, as you’ll recall, was played by Rebecca Romijn in the first X-Men movie.
In this highly-anticipated film, Lawrence will not only have to learn how to deal with the social and physical difficulties that come with being a mutant (not to mention the sexual tension!), but she’s also got to learn the ways of love, too. Her primarily love interest in X-Men: First Class is the character of Philip “Hank” McCoy, played by Nicholas Hoult, who, as you’ll see in the clip above, has got some mutant puberty issues of his own going on. (Pro-tip? Get yourself some fast actin’ Tinactin, bro!)
See, this is what what happens when every single character in your movie is young and good-looking: unavoidable sexual tension. So maybe a select few have gigantic insect wings or blue scales or some kind of gross animal claw sprouting out of their body. It (probably) wouldn’t stop us in real life; it’s certainly not going to stop us on screen. In addition to the sexiness inherent in fighting for justice, the new X-Men: First Class theatrical trailer features a topless Zoe Kravtiz, a near kiss between Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique and Nicolas Hoult‘s Beast, and, of course, January Jones‘ ice cleavage. In retrospect, we probably won’t miss Chelsea Grammar‘s take on Hank McCoy as much as we screamed we would when the new film was announced. Even setting movie during the Cuban missile crisis itself is pretty sexy. In fact, seeing Michael Fassbenger‘s Magneto lift up an submarine with his mind is almost as exciting as the promise of some hot mutant-on-mutant action. Almost.
