Fun fact: Ibiza is named after Bes, the Egyptian god of childbirth, humor, dancing and music. So when Spanish tourism honchos try to persuade us that the Balearic Island is about more than just foam parties and BASS, they’re working against ancient history here. But you know what’s probably helping their case? All these celebrities we’ve been spotting doing everything but hitting the legendary night clubs (not that they didn’t also do that, we assume).
Whether it’s models like Doutzen Krous wading in the Mediterranean waters, athletes like Rafael Nadal getting behind the wheel of a boat or actors like Leonardo DiCaprio escaping from a private yacht on a freaking jet pack, these famous people have been living it up in Ibiza. Even Benedict Cumberbatch and Blue Ivy Carter are getting in on the action — the perfect climate, crystal waters and the archeological sites too of course. It’s so nice of them, then, to take a minute to send us some postcards.
Maybe senility it setting in early, but there are some days when the celebrity news that seemed like a big deal at the time has faded into nonexistence in our memories (man, remember Will and Jayden Smith’s crazy interviews? Or George Clooney and Stacy Keibler’s breakup?). But when we look back upon the summer of 2013, there are some big stories that will be burned in our minds — some quite fondly, some with a slight SMH, and others with tears in our eyes. Here they are, in reverse order of lasting impact on our lives: Read more…
Personally, we’re extremely nervous around needles. We’ve fainted every single time we’ve had to get blood drawn, and once it was just at the mere mention of having to get poked. So it always blows us away when folks voluntarily get pierced….just because we’d never in a million years be able to do it, ourselves!
OK, so today isn’t the first time we’ve seen Beyonce with short hair. Doesn’t anyone remember Cadillac Records? (Us neither.) Anyway, making headlines with a drastic crop is one of the oldest tricks in the book, and one that’s still guaranteed to make us take notice.
Here is a chronological account of the most headline-worthy celeb cuts:
Saint-Tropez, a once-sleepy fishing town on the French Riviera, owes a lot to the stars. It was the 1956 French movie And God Created Woman, starring blond bombshell Brigitte Bardot, that put the place on the map, instantly transforming it into a playground for the rich and famous. So, no, it wasn’t Diddy who made this place hot. But we did wonder why the likes of Jay Z and Beyonce, Neil Patrick Harris, Kate Moss, Rihanna and more choose to park their yachts there, of all places.

It’s a good thing they sent us all these postcards to tell us why they love Saint-Tropez. Wish we were there!
Here, for extra viewing pleasure, is a clip from And God Created Woman.
You know how it goes: As the weather gets hotter, so do the Twitpics and Instagrams. It’s a law of nature! This July was a scorcher, and it gave us plenty of beach pics and sexy shots to choose from, courtesy of your favorite artists and celebs!
Ermahgerd, memes! There is little that makes us happier than a new meme. Every time one comes up on our Tumblr dash, we do a little dance of excitement. Since 2013 has been one of the best years yet for pop-culture-driven, fan powered Internet humor, we thought that halfway through the year would be a good time to showcase a few of our favorites, including Actresses Without Teeth, Interrupting Javert, Sleeping Tilda Swinton, and our personal favorite Flower Crowns.
On the Fourth of July, we celebrate not just America, but the qualities that make the United States unique. Things like freedom, apple pie and our country’s God-given ability to make the hottest people on Earth. We’ve got 50 nifty United States, and 50 smoking hot people (of different sizes, sexes, ages and ilks) to represent those states!
