Only Tom Hanks could drop a filthy f-bomb on Good Morning America and have us find him more endearing. Maybe it’s that mustache? It’s very sweet in a dad way, very Mr. Belvedere on a long weekend. Maybe it’s because we know Hanks was trying to get into character to demonstrate his Cloud Atlas accent for host Elizabeth Vargas? “I want people to buy my f—ing…” Hanks growls. No, it’s because T. Hanks claps his hand over his mouth and bugs his eyes like a scandalized seven-year-old when he realizes his blunder. Don’t worry, Tom! We’ve heard (and seen) worse on-air celebrity gaffes. 10 of them, to be precise!
I’ll Have Another was wearing the roses after Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, but we all know he wasn’t the only star of the event, which has become as much about watching the attendees as it is about the horses. As in years past, celebs put on their derby best to enjoy a day of mint juleps and betting. Although there was little sun in the sky, the folks in Churchill Downs were still seen wearing everything from traditional Kentucky Derby hats to some more elaborate and daring headwear. Coco, Ginnifer Goodwin, Cyndi Lauper, Star Jones, Mary J. Blige and Miranda Lambert were among the ladies showing off straw, feathers, flowers and bows on their heads. Even a few male celebs, like Ashton Kutcher, Kellan Lutz and Joey Fatone, joined in on all the hat fun. Here’s a look at the 20 best celebrity hats at this year’s Kentucky Derby.

Terror never looked as adorable as when Shakira was attacked by a sea lion over the weekend! The hip-shaking singer was touring Cape Town, South Africa, when she spotted the cute but not-so-cuddly creature nearby. As she bent down to say hello, the animal apparently thought that her cell phone was a fish and sprang out of the water with its teeth out. The sea lion took a bite out of her hand before her brother was able to come to her rescue and pull the two apart. Both humans suffered scraped hands and arms. No word on the sea lion’s condition, but we imagine it’s doing all right.
Shakira posted pictures of her injuries to her Facebook in an album hilariously titled “Special Report: Attacked by a Sea Lion.” In the captions she dramatically recounts the incident in vivid detail. “One of [the sea lions] jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me,” she wrote. She made sure to thank her brother “Super Tony” for saving her life and “taking me away from the beast.”
Sure, the whole ordeal seems like a freak accident, but animals tango with famous people much more often than you might think. Check out the gallery below for more celebrities who have survived awkward run-ins with wildlife!

We’re getting beyond excited here about VH1 Divas on tomorrow, but maybe Lily Allen‘s feeling a bit left out? The singer and soon-to-be-actress has taken a backhanded potshot at Divas star Leona Lewis in a rant on her blog about file-sharing.
“You might not care, but the more difficult it is for new artists to make it, the less you’ll see and the more British music will be nothing but puppets paid for by Cowell,” she wrote. You may have a point Lily, but surely the world would be a darker place without lovely Leona and her voice? And the combination of her singing with Cyndi Lauper tomorrow more than surely makes up for Simon Cowell’s evil-empire building…
Tune in to VH1 Divas tomorrow at 9PM EST and check back here to participate in our Divas Live Blog Party.

Wow! Coldplay, Ne-Yo, Lil’ Wayne and Radiohead: what fresh, hip nominees for the Album Of The Year Grammy award! Sure, old-timey faves Robert Plant & Alison Krauss are up too, but there’s a four out of a five chance something enjoyed by young people will win, right? Not if the Fogey’s Curse has anything to say about it.
It’s not that the Grammys never reward edgy, contemporary artists (Outkast took Album Of The Year in 2004 and Lauryn Hill won ten years ago). It’s just that when too many young’uns are nominated, it tends to split the cool vote, leaving one glaring option for all the old folks in the voting pool. Here are some of the more notorious examples of the Fogey’s Curse.
- Beck, “The New Pollution” (from Odelay)
In 1997, The Fugees represented the best in hip-hop. The Smashing Pumpkins represented the best in rock. Beck represented the best in alternative. The Waiting To Exhale soundtrack (featuring Mary J. Blige) represented the best in R&B. Naturally, they all lost to Celine Dion.
