Oh, hell yeah. We are 100% behind Russell Brand‘s decision to wear gold boots with a white suit and open shirt to the Get Him To The Greek premiere in LA last night. With Katy Perry vamping it up like a super-villain, this mackadocious outfit was clearly the only way to go—now we’re just worried they’ll blow up the world if they don’t get a billion dollars in 48 hours.
Apparently hesitant to compete with Brand’s swagger, Diddy showed up in casual clothes, joined by his mom— a move that makes us miss the guy who might have brought eight dancers, some doves and a suit actually made of ivory a decade ago. Befitting the premiere of a Judd Apatow production, Greek‘s stars were joined by comedy all-stars like Ed Helms, Kristin Bell, Jon Hamm, Alison Brie and Christopher Mintz-Plasse on the red carpet, as well as Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Rosario Dawson. See what they wore in the gallery below.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is a star and stars get special treatment. But sometimes they don’t always have to kowtow to Mother Nature. Diddy doesn’t like rain, and Diddy will make damn sure he won’t get wet.
To accommodate Diddy’s divalicious desires, his people reached Southside in Little Italy, 20 minutes before he made his entrance. The event was a party hosted by his former manager, Jessica Rosenblum. They proceeded to clear out all the cars from outside the club so then when Diddy arrived, he could get out of his Maybach and step right under the awning. Easy-peasy. Clothing still fly and dry.
He hung out till 3:30am with DJ Funkmaster Flex, sipping pineapple juice. Hopefully he made it out alive without water touching his skin!
Details are trickling in as we type … But we’re hearing about a fundraiser for Haiti that is being masterminded by George Clooney. Allegedly MTV has agreed to air a bi-coastal happening on all of its channels (MTV, BET, CMT and our beloved VH1) in an attempt to provide much-needed support for the devasted victims of the earthquake.
According to Showbiz411, which broke the story today, Clooney was busy recruiting celebs at a party for Up in the Air last night — and Sting, after being approached, was overheard saying “Where do I go?” The timing for recruiting talent could not be better as nearly every A-list actor will be attending the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards on Friday and then the Golden Globes on Sunday. Expect to hear a lot about Haiti in upcoming acceptance speeches!
It’s hard to imagine this event going down without music. We can’t confirm anything at this time, but a straight talking-head telethon just isn’t how VH1 or MTV rolls. Plus, can you imagine Sting without his guitar? Exactly.
This is the true story of how one self-described “sh*tbag dork” used Twitter to connect with mega-star and all-around King of Cool,Diddy, and convinced him to appear as guest at his upcoming comedy show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York. Sounds impossible, right? But all it took for our longtime friend Chris Gethard (pictured above) was a Twitter account, a hashtag, a bunch of eager participants, and a dream. And of course – a celebrity who gets what the Web 2.0 world is all about: connection and communication, in 140 characters or less.
We chatted with Chris about how he hooked up with Diddy, what it was like talking to him on both Twitter and the phone (how 1995!) and what to expect when he hosts the hip-hop mogul at The Chris Gethard Show in February.
If you can stomach ten minutes of Sean Combs discussing the plush, luxe softness of his $60 bathrobes on the Home Shopping Network, have we got a clip for you. Sean-P-Puff-Diddy-Daddy-Combs is now shilling his lifestyle products on the network, and you know what? He’s really good at it.
Combs broke HSN records by selling out his Sean John fragrances, travel kits and robes in 15 minutes, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue. Not only did Combs succeed in selling his wares, he also doled out bits of inspiration – no purchase necessary. After discussing his work ethic and an anecdote about working in a Mexican restaurant, he told his bathrobe-buying fans, “You can do anything you put your mind to.” And to that, his co-host admitted that that he inspired her “to want to be a better, more passionate person.”
Kim Kardashian wasn’t the only Kim turning heads at Diddy‘s 40th birthday party at the Plaza last night. Lil’ Kim, putting aside her beef over Notorious, helped celebrate her old producer’s big day. The shindig featured guests from all corners of the industry—from Baby and Cassie to Denzel Washington and Bono—and Al Green as the night’s entertainment. Check out the festivities in the gallery below.
Freedom was fleeting yesterday for Shyne, whose promising recording career was cut short following a shoot-out at a Manhattan club in 1999. The rapper was found guilty of multiple charges stemming from the incident (which also involved then-boss Diddy and Jennifer Lopez), and served nine years before his release from prison yesterday. Ironically, Shyne is now being held by Immigration officials, as he may be set for deportation to his native Belize due to his felony record.
Though Shyne previously accused Diddy of influencing testimony against him, the Bad Boy CEO told Hot 97 that he’d recently spoken with his former mentee. “He sounded like he was in good spirits,” said Diddy. “I know he can’t wait to get home.” Shyne was briefly signed to Def Jam Records during his sentence, but dropped after his 2004 album (made of previously-recorded material) failed.
Fashion designers and fanatics alike got dolled up and headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC last night for the premiere of The September Issue. The high-brow documentary follows Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour as she prepares the year’s biggest issue. Sienna Miller, Cassie, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Renee Zellweger were among the celebs mingling with fashion’s hottest trend-makers and models. [Photos: Getty Images]

While Jennifer Lopez doesn’t look as boomin’ as she did back when she was a Fly Girl on In Living Color, we’re kind of amazed that her body is still defying gravity and her face is holding wrinkles at bay one week away from her 40th birthday. Let’s consider all that she’s been through.
J-Lo has released seven albums (another one is coming later this year), starred in dozens of film and television roles (including Gigli, a.k.a. The Worst Movie of 2003), started a film and television production company and launched two clothing lines and seven perfumes. She’s also survived a high-profile court case during her Diddy days, a last-minute calling off of her “Bennifer” engagement as well as two divorces. And we haven’t even mentioned that she gave birth to twins with hubby Marc Anthony earlier this year. Allow us to repeat ourselves: Twins!
Yes, Jenny has been around the block, but she’s holding up nicely as she enters her 40s. Check out photos of Jennifer Lopez filming The Backup Plan, a new romantic comedy to be released in 2010. [Photo: Splash News Online]
Chris Brown looked like he was enjoying himself at Diddy‘s White Ball in Beverly Hills over the weekend — and got chatting up close and personal with Rihanna look-alike Teyana Taylor. The two had already been spotted sitting together courtside at the NBA finals, and it was pointed out that her style looked similar to Rihanna’s. But don’t think she’s taken fashion tips from Chris’ ex. “I’ve always dressed like that. I’ve always had style … I’ve had that Mohawk now for months,” Teyana previously explained. OK!
